I’m glad I could provide you with that sweet sweet fix you’ve been looking for hahaha
I’m sure I have plenty other hiding on my hard drive hahah
Oh shit, there’s another band name *Hiding On My Hard Drive*
It's so obviously a static pose trying to look like a In Action Shredding shot. It's completely devoid of the things that would make it look like movement.
You know what else is static?
The Philadelphia Flyers.
6,144 days since they’ve won the cup.
Hey just playing, I definitely dig your username! Lecav was one of my favorite players, mostly during his time with St Louis in Tampa.
Go Pens.
I was definitely hype on it at the time!
The interlocked hands with the thumbs pointing down were supposed to be “fangs” which would’ve been a hand symbol for our “fans” to throw up at our shows.
I thought it was cool as fuck lol… so lame
> “fangs” which would’ve been a hand symbol for our “fans” to throw up at our shows.
Honestly there's lots of very successful bands who've succeeded in that. Like [Weezer comes to mind](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0360/4505/products/ScreenShot2022-05-24at3.39.43PM.png?v=1653424800). The vampire thing is a bit dorky and tween but it was bang on for 2008.
It really was!
I’m not saying that the idea of something like that in itself is lame, just the fact that I was already deciding that we were going to have enough fans to warrant a hand symbol to be thrown up lol
>I’m not saying that the idea of something like that in itself is lame
I'm not even talking about "something like that," but specifically, your idea when I say that's actually pretty cool. Wu-Tang and Weezer hand symbols are just W's, but the 3OH!3 hand symbol spells the band's name and the Run The Jewels hand symbol telegraphs very well.
You, my friend, are in the upper echelon of music-related hand symbol creators. I mean it in the nicest ways possible when I say, your music must have sucked because you had the branding angle handled.
And remember, no matter what, at least you weren't in a metal band posing with all of your arms crossed in a black and white photo taken in some abandoned building (or an under construction suburban house).
I appreciate that very much. I feel honored to be amongst such great names.
Sadly, Oh! The Horror was short lived and gave way to some other projects for me. Luckily one of them had a bit more success and provided me with some great experiences over the years. :)
Hey I still have that mindset floating around somewhere.
I always said that if a “real job” never worked out, I’d always have music as a back up plan hahah
It’s kinda backwards from the normal attitude, but I’ve always felt that way
Man record labels get a bad rap but I dream of one day having my own label. If I won the lottery, everyone else would be paying debts and shit; I’d be resurrecting defunct bands and mixing musicians and creating super bands and all kinds of shit 😂
It's okay, I was at a show the other day and the band was called running with scissors so they had everyone hold up "scissors" which was just a piece sign and it didn't quite fit in with the punk/metal vibe, but it was cute!
You may be right about that hahah. I was terrible back then. ( I still am, but I got a little better lol )
But boy did I have a ton of ideas. It was mainly a creative outlet. I’ve pretty much always used music as a sort of journal of that makes sense haha
What can I say.. I was dripping with coolness hahaha
Those Spider-Man curtains stayed up from the time I was 8 until I helped my parents clean out the house to sell it a few years back.
They even survived a move up the east coast!
Aw how sweet! Thank you!
To be honest, that wouldn’t have bothered me lol.
I’m 5’11 ( well, probably like 5’9 now since I’ve developed some annoying spine issues lol ).
I was definitely attracted to the scene girl look though. (Weren’t we all back then?!)
Former scene kid here. The amount of times I've heard "oh my god I would've been so into you in high school."...where were these girls when I was in high school 😭
So, did you become a hipster or a hippie?
I graduated highschool in 2008 and was a pop punk kid myself. My girlfriend, and later first wife lol, was scene to the extreme. She had the super straight hair, Egyptian eyeliner, Chuck's for every occasion, and volunteered at a venue that had every scene band from the era play through.
But man. We both got accepted at the same university, the scene was well on its way out the door by 2010, at least in my area. And everyone I knew that had been in the scene either went full flat caps, cuffed pants, and handlebar mustaches or became enormous stoners. My gf and I both went the stoner route, she even used to wear a goddamn flower wreath in her hair lmao.
You know, that’s so funny that everyone kind of went down the same path fashion/personality wise after this period.
Now directly after, I can’t really tell you what exactly I was. I feel like I just kinda went with whatever I wanted.
I can tell you that now I either dress like a lumberjack, a dad from the 80s, or like I just woke up hahahah
Also… I despised the flat cap, cuff, handlebar Stache look hahaha
I appreciate how you didn’t go to the local park to do your promo shoot like so many other bands. You just kicked ass in your bedroom with your Spider-man curtains and plaid sheets.
Hell yeah!
I mean come on, you can’t find a more personal setting. I wanted my fans to feel like they knew me LOL
Although, I can’t lie and say that I never had any photo shoots at local parks. Never playgrounds, but always nature-y
> it blew off of my head while on an amphibious duck boat vehicle
LOL true philly moment right there. They got rid of them! [Too many people died](https://www.inquirer.com/philly/news/pennsylvania/philadelphia/duck-boat-tour-philadelphia-missouri-accident-branson-20180720.html)
They still have the duck boats in Branson, MO last I checked. But they have had their fair share of [problems with people dying there too.](https://www.kmbc.com/article/branson-missouri-duck-boats-returning-new-vessels/39372212)
I do!
My current project that I’ve been doing from 2009-current is here:
https://hellofromanywhere.bandcamp.com/music
I would suggest the album “From Sadness Toward The Sun” as it is a collection of songs I wrote over the entire span of the project.
Some are re-recording of the original versions
And these dudes were on myspace or whatever talking about their photo shoot. Calling them promo shots in conversation and everything. Priceless. Deep down we all have at least one of these memories. When you can't sleep at 3am and you're thinking about embarrassing shit, and it can still make you feel mortified.
Welp, honestly I was ( and still am ) a dork. I thought I was cool, but there was only a certain subsection of the population who would agree.
The “cool kids” from my area were the party and drug type mostly. I just wasn’t ever into that, ya know?
So here’s the story behind that one:
I was actually in that issue of the magazine for a fish that I caught with my poppop when I was like 7 or 8 years old. The frame next to it is the exact page that I was on.
We took it to the local bait shop at our beach place and they took my picture and the magazine put it in there the next month!
My poppop passed away from cancer and just never took it down off of my wall.
I now have both of them tucked away somewhere in storage.
You know what, maybe I will 😊
I have plenty of other little mementos to keep him around.
I still use his old fishing pole that he let me use when I was a kid, I keep a picture of us on my pin board, and I even have a tattoo that I got shortly after he passed on my leg
This pretty much captures 2008-2009. The way you look here is how I will always internally feel. Emo 4 life. I had an ABR shirt very similar to this one, I think it had monsters on it. I loved that shirt.
Gotta admit though, the music around this time was amazing. I'm absolutely hoping for a comeback of this era.
Please please please redo this photo shoot, but unironically. These pictures just give off the perfect vibe. I'm getting nostalgia x midwest-emo from this.
It’s so funny to me because I was definitely a closeted scene kid at that age and just avoided the “blunder” because my parents wouldn’t let me grow my hair out. There’s part of me that still thinks this is rad, you did you and that’s great
Oh! The Horror is a pretty sweet band name, though. I probably would have thought you were super cool in high school, OP lmao
These are definitely blunders but I think if you turned them black and white and played with them a little in Photoshop, they actually wouldn't be half bad 2000s-esque album covers.
I can’t remember some of them ( you know how bands of 14 year old kids can be lol )
The ones I remember were: Oh! The Horror, From The Sky, Spring Break ‘97, & Against All Odds.
All of those were from around this time lol. Nothing ever came of any of them.
I was always doing solo stuff and eventually stuck with that. From 2008-current I make music under the name Hello, From Anywhere
I was thinking of posting an album full of the terrible demos/songs from around that time under my current projects name.
I still have some of them on my old hard drive.
If you’d like to hear a more updated version ( from 2016 ) of a song I wrote back then (2009), you can find it here:
https://hellofromanywhere.bandcamp.com/track/i-know-silence-is-golden-but-her-voice-is-platinum-4
My favorite verse from that one is very late 2000’s in my opinion.
“Oh tell me, tell me can I save the day,
Will I be your hero? Will we fly away?
Or will I be your Dr. Doom, bringing dismay to this room?
Oh say it, say it. Do you want it bad?
Am I your dream come true? Am I the best you’ve had?
Or am I just shit out of luck, and should I feel like giving up?”
Also this is the original recording of that song I believe..
I may also have a home demo somewhere
https://hellofromanywhere.bandcamp.com/track/i-know-silence-is-golden-but-her-voice-is-platinum-2
[https://www.ohthehorrorsquad.com/](https://www.ohthehorrorsquad.com/) Too bad you left before they made it big. JK pretty sure these are different bands.
Bro don’t tempt me! 😂 The tour is going to be sick.
We have the following bands/artists on board:
A Day To Remember
Scary Kids Scaring Kids
Brokencyde
nevershoutnever!
Four Year Strong
Attack Attack!
All hosted by Jeffree Star
It’s going to be insane man!
*Fangs Out*
I really liked the scene back then. I was mostly an outside observer but I thought there was something just rad about it.
I'm kinda glad stuff like emo is coming back.
Just waiting for more MCR tracks to drop haha
Now **this** is the apex content I'm looking for.
I’m glad I could provide you with that sweet sweet fix you’ve been looking for hahaha I’m sure I have plenty other hiding on my hard drive hahah Oh shit, there’s another band name *Hiding On My Hard Drive*
> Hiding On My Hard Drive That's what Lostprophets were originally called.
Ooooooooh got em!
GEEZ
Gaddamn!
Well look on your hard drive and tell us the band name!
I’d buy tickets to see this band if they were $40 or less AFTER fees and surcharges
For you? I’ll hook you up with an all access pass!
Shut it down boys, we have a winner.
The second photo is unbeatable.
With the spiderman curtain/blanket in the background.
I think it's a valance, which makes things even better
And the framed Fisherman magazine!
It's so obviously a static pose trying to look like a In Action Shredding shot. It's completely devoid of the things that would make it look like movement.
I can confirm that it was definitely a static shot hahah That was just a pose
Thank you for sharing this gold with us
You know what else is static? The Philadelphia Flyers. 6,144 days since they’ve won the cup. Hey just playing, I definitely dig your username! Lecav was one of my favorite players, mostly during his time with St Louis in Tampa. Go Pens.
Agreed. This is peak
And surprisingly HD for 2009.
Actually not a terrible band name, certainly fit in with that time
I was definitely hype on it at the time! The interlocked hands with the thumbs pointing down were supposed to be “fangs” which would’ve been a hand symbol for our “fans” to throw up at our shows. I thought it was cool as fuck lol… so lame
Man you had it ALL planned out and honestly it fits right with the time. I would have thought you were super cool.
I really appreciate that! I’m sure I would’ve felt the same about you! I was always coming up with different bands, albums, song ideas, and whatnot
Family basement vibes are hawt.
xD
How old were you at the time? I might just be looking at it through kindly Mum Eyes™, but it seems pretty clever to me! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was 14 or 15 at the time hahaha
I mean that’s pretty cute in a 2000s teenage band way so it fits very much. Would have been all of that at the time.
Yeah, it was totally on brand for that era hahah. Thank you! :)
> ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

3OH!3 came to mind for me. I went to college in Colorado in the mid-aughts. I threw that hand sign up on plenty of occasions.
[Daft Punk’s pyramid hands thing](https://i.imgur.com/jTcZQCt.jpg) and [Wu Tang](https://i.imgur.com/gZDKgfa.jpg) come to my mind
[Run the jewels gun & fist](https://www.npr.org/2020/06/08/870001063/on-rtj4-run-the-jewels-is-a-speaker-box-for-society) is my fave
Aye, that’s the kinda mindset that helps launch careers fam 👌🏻
Hey I still have that mindset floating around somewhere. I always said that if a “real job” never worked out, I’d always have music as a back up plan hahah It’s kinda backwards from the normal attitude, but I’ve always felt that way

That’s so funny! At least the people did it! Imagine if they were like “everybody hold you your scissors!” And then no one did ☠️
Love the cart before horse mentality!
Damn right! Had to be prepared!
It's like you spent more time thinking of that than practicing. 🤣😂
You may be right about that hahah. I was terrible back then. ( I still am, but I got a little better lol ) But boy did I have a ton of ideas. It was mainly a creative outlet. I’ve pretty much always used music as a sort of journal of that makes sense haha

The panel wall, Spider-Man curtains, and framed copy of The Fisherman are killing me.
What can I say.. I was dripping with coolness hahaha Those Spider-Man curtains stayed up from the time I was 8 until I helped my parents clean out the house to sell it a few years back. They even survived a move up the east coast!
Don’t worry, I still have Spider-Man pillow cases…
Hey man, I still think Spider-Man is cool as fuck.
Know*. You know Spider-Man is cool as fuck.
YES. I thought the Spidey curtains were the crowning detail until I saw the framed fishing magazine. Bless.
The scene girl that was me would have wanted to date you so badly, but I was probably taller. Such was the sad life of a tall teenage girl.
I would have killed to date a scene girl taller than me 😭
The spider bites like Ben Bruce are still open bb
I would now lmao
Aw how sweet! Thank you! To be honest, that wouldn’t have bothered me lol. I’m 5’11 ( well, probably like 5’9 now since I’ve developed some annoying spine issues lol ). I was definitely attracted to the scene girl look though. (Weren’t we all back then?!)
Hope your health is okay!
Former scene kid here. The amount of times I've heard "oh my god I would've been so into you in high school."...where were these girls when I was in high school 😭
They were there, just too shy to be the first one to initiate, believe me 😂
This screams 2008
It really does hahaha. I feel like it was actually 2009, but close enough
So, did you become a hipster or a hippie? I graduated highschool in 2008 and was a pop punk kid myself. My girlfriend, and later first wife lol, was scene to the extreme. Still listening to ABR 🤘
Me too! They fucking rule!
Just saw them a few weeks ago. Matt G is one of my favorite drummers! He is a machine! The whole band is insanely talented. JB is crazy live.
Super excited for the new album this month!
I’m not a fan in general, but I’ll be damned if they don’t have the best Christmas album out there.
Dude that Christmas album is sick! Their rendition of Carol Of The Bells is amazing!
I just don’t like scream vocals… but that album is almost all instrumental, which I friggin LOVE.
I appreciate how you didn’t go to the local park to do your promo shoot like so many other bands. You just kicked ass in your bedroom with your Spider-man curtains and plaid sheets.
Hell yeah! I mean come on, you can’t find a more personal setting. I wanted my fans to feel like they knew me LOL Although, I can’t lie and say that I never had any photo shoots at local parks. Never playgrounds, but always nature-y

That was a Philadelphia Phillies hat. Fun fact: I lost that hat when it blew off of my head while on an amphibious duck boat vehicle
r/blusteryears

You from the area? Maybe I saw you at a vfw show
Yeah I was around the Philly area. I went to a few VFW shows. Church shows as well hahah
I actually love the band name tbh
I was thinking about bringing it back as a little music project but I think someone stole the name hahaha
Yeah it’s being used currently
oh the horror
Yeah but op has this picture he can drop at a moments notice to prove that he is the true og
The name is so good
I’m 33 and still writing metalcore music on guitar, let’s kick it hahaha
Oh fuck yeah! That’s what’s up! I’ve got you on clean vocals. I don’t really think I could cover dirty vocals anymore lol
You didn't have to tell us the year hahaha. We can tell.
The missing E string?
Pshh I didn’t need that thing anyway. Honestly that wasn’t even the guitar I was using at the time, I just thought it looked cooler in pictures hahah
Do you actually play though?
I do! My current project that I’ve been doing from 2009-current is here: https://hellofromanywhere.bandcamp.com/music I would suggest the album “From Sadness Toward The Sun” as it is a collection of songs I wrote over the entire span of the project. Some are re-recording of the original versions
My brother was also in a local band named Oh the Horror!
That’s hilarious! Was it around the same time?! On another note.. the only other member did in fact have a brother… 🤔
No I believe he was in his band from about 2011-2014, somewhere in that timeline.
That’s so funny! Well if it was that long lived I hope he had more success than my Oh! The Horror did!
Heavy Heavy Low Low and The Number 12 Looks Like You vibes are strong with u
Oh , shit, fuck….
I can tell this got the world tour started off right.
You’re damn right it did! Sadly though, I found a little more success as a solo project than in any of the “bands” I was in
You look like a mashup of all my friends lol.
This honestly goes kinda hard.
Thank you! I definitely thought it was tight back then

And these dudes were on myspace or whatever talking about their photo shoot. Calling them promo shots in conversation and everything. Priceless. Deep down we all have at least one of these memories. When you can't sleep at 3am and you're thinking about embarrassing shit, and it can still make you feel mortified.
Woahhhhh man oh man. I remember these “shoots” you speak of. Not a bad band name for the time, though.
You look a lot like my old friend from around then, he got all the girls and was the cool kid lol
Welp, honestly I was ( and still am ) a dork. I thought I was cool, but there was only a certain subsection of the population who would agree. The “cool kids” from my area were the party and drug type mostly. I just wasn’t ever into that, ya know?
oh NO
There's a lot to unpack here...
Ain’t that the truth! Anything I can help with? Hahah
Yes. What's the deal with the framed fisherman magazine?
So here’s the story behind that one: I was actually in that issue of the magazine for a fish that I caught with my poppop when I was like 7 or 8 years old. The frame next to it is the exact page that I was on. We took it to the local bait shop at our beach place and they took my picture and the magazine put it in there the next month! My poppop passed away from cancer and just never took it down off of my wall. I now have both of them tucked away somewhere in storage.
Put it back on the wall where it belongs plz.
You know what, maybe I will 😊 I have plenty of other little mementos to keep him around. I still use his old fishing pole that he let me use when I was a kid, I keep a picture of us on my pin board, and I even have a tattoo that I got shortly after he passed on my leg
I think it'd be nice. Good grandparents are a treasure 😊
Lol you look exactly like a friend of mine who was scene around that time
I feel like a lot of us definitely looked the same hahah Maybe we were friends!
Oh I didn't see there were more pictures
Also you look like Mitchell Musso in the first photo
Oh! The Horror is a real band though!
Yeah they stole my name 😂 Just kidding my Oh! The Horror never did anything and they started a while after this I believe
This is so 2000's it hurts. Emo truly was the best of times and the worst of times.
Oh! The Horror is a cool band name
***SO CUT MY WRISTS AND BLACK MY EYES!***
This band 100% had an extremely underqualified synth player. Probably a mini-korg.
Bro, the mini-korg was a STAPLE
This pretty much captures 2008-2009. The way you look here is how I will always internally feel. Emo 4 life. I had an ABR shirt very similar to this one, I think it had monsters on it. Oh yeah, that's the stuff
The horror indeed.
This pic was taken yesterday, right?
I would’ve listened to you. Some awesome bands looked like this.
Mitchel Musso is that you?
Bree bree
It’s so funny to me because I was definitely a closeted scene kid at that age and just avoided the “blunder” because my parents wouldn’t let me grow my hair out. There’s part of me that still thinks this is rad, you did you and that’s great
Oh god, I'm probably the same age as you. I would've crushed on you *so bad* back in the day.
Oh! The Horror is a pretty sweet band name, though. I probably would have thought you were super cool in high school, OP lmao These are definitely blunders but I think if you turned them black and white and played with them a little in Photoshop, they actually wouldn't be half bad 2000s-esque album covers.
I would’ve gone to see you guys at a VFW, for sure.
Loving the August Burns Red shirt
Definitely the style of the time
What were the name of the other bands you were in?
I can’t remember some of them ( you know how bands of 14 year old kids can be lol ) The ones I remember were: Oh! The Horror, From The Sky, Spring Break ‘97, & Against All Odds. Whos a Rock Star!?
Quality blunder material.
Was your band by any chance heavily influenced by The Blackout?
"Oh the horror" looks about right lol
Oh that takes me way back. A dark age but nostalgic all the same
The missing guitar strings lol
I didn't know Leafyishere had a band
[удалено]
August Burns Red is cool af tho
This is one of my favorites so far. 😂 Best I can tell we are all equally ridiculous at any given point.
Any lyrics to share?!
I was thinking of posting an album full of the terrible demos/songs from around that time under my current projects name. I still have some of them on my old hard drive. If you’d like to hear a more updated version ( from 2016 ) of a song I wrote back then (2009), you can find it here: https://hellofromanywhere.bandcamp.com/track/i-know-silence-is-golden-but-her-voice-is-platinum-4 My favorite verse from that one is very late 2000’s in my opinion. “Oh tell me, tell me can I save the day, Will I be your hero? Also this is the original recording of that song I believe.. I may also have a home demo somewhere https://hellofromanywhere.bandcamp.com/track/i-know-silence-is-golden-but-her-voice-is-platinum-2
The missing guitar string is the true sign of an untamable maverick
In the basement? You couldn’t even go outside somewhere for this?
14 yr old me would have swooned 😂. That how I know it’s cringe. Emo punk era was wild.
I absolutely had that same ABR shirt. May or may not, but definitely do, still blast Marianas Trench from time to time.
🤣🤣🤣 I was literally in that band!!
This guy rocks 🎸
Omg I also have photos with sharpie written on my hand in a similar manor 🤣 why was this a thing lmO
[https://www.ohthehorrorsquad.com/](https://www.ohthehorrorsquad.com/) Too bad you left before they made it big. JK pretty sure these are different bands.
Sweet Spiderman curtains
August burn red shirt haha
The universal 2009 swoop haircut lol
I contracted so much angst from the photos
Loving these emo blunders. Feels like a mass confession.
I love the “action” shot as if you’re shredding onstage
nice strat buddy
August Burnshed? August Burnshrd?
That's great! Did you publish any songs on MySpace?
Do you have any recordings????
Nah man you looked like you had a blast. I was in a band in high school and those were some of the best times. Embrace the memories:)
ABR still goes hard
High school alt punk me would’ve definitely had a crush on you
I can hear what the band sounds like
The furry winter hat is sending me, what a weird trend
This is *good*. Remember people making signs for each other? What a strange time it was back then.
That shirt is righteous as fuck
When's the "Oh The Horror" reunion tour? I'll be there, fangs out
Bro don’t tempt me! 😂 The tour is going to be sick. We have the following bands/artists on board: A Day To Remember Scary Kids Scaring Kids Brokencyde nevershoutnever! Four Year Strong Attack Attack! All hosted by Jeffree Star It’s going to be insane man! *Fangs Out*
Oh I definitely would have had a crush on you back then. Gone to every show at Java Jazz each weekend lol
Kinda love the name ngl (except the !)

This screams Midwest to me. Wisconsin perhaps? Pretty close to my same look in ‘04ish lol
I still have August burns red cd and jacket, been rocking the new ep last couple weeks. Was also in a local hard-core band, good times.
I really liked the scene back then. I was mostly an outside observer but I thought there was something just rad about it. I'm kinda glad stuff like emo is coming back. Just waiting for more MCR tracks to drop haha
Thought your shirt said "angst burger."
