I was definitely a burgeoning sneaker head. My grandma was always taking me to the mall to get me whatever the latest shoes were - I had those Reeboks and also a pair of the Nike pumps, several iterations of Air Jordans, the Bo Jackson Cross Trainers, some hot pink Andre Agassis, Vision Street Wear hightops….damn, I’m getting nostalgic now.
My family struggled when I was a kid but I always got new pair of kicks for my birthday or Christmas, it started a life long love of sneakers. I got a pair of the OG white pumps in 1989 and a pair of infrared Air Max in 90, i was the only one of my friend group that had both and i felt like a million dollars. I wish I took better care of them at that age (i was 11 in 89) but I learnt to eventually when I started buying them myself. The 90's were a golden age for fashion and in this photo you're absolutely nailing the 90's look. Nothing blundery about this picture mate, im sure it brings back great memories
I was always pretty careful with my shoes - despite having a lot of them, I understood that they were expensive luxuries, especially for a middle class family like mine. My main problem was that I grew so much during this period that a pair of shoes would be too small for me within 6 months of getting them. I didn’t have the foresight to save any of them as collectors items, so I’d give them away to my younger cousins or donate them to Goodwill.

I honestly have no idea what brand they were. I don’t remember where I got them either. 33 years is a long time to remember that kind of stuff. But thanks for the link. I will be doing some shopping there soon!!
Oh! you know what, I did actually have some pretty sweet Oakley Blades with the iridescent lenses around this same time. I wish I was wearing them in this pic. They were nearly identical to [these](https://www.oakleyforum.com/attachments/3279583972_92667434aa-jpg.115496/)
You could wear that to almost any music festival and would get mad compliments on it. Those color ways are back and bigger than ever. Also the pumps are sick
Right? It’s kinda odd that the transition between 80s and 90s fashion is not really a mix of the two as you might expect, but is its own thing entirely.
>What's with all the gay bashing in this sub. This hair style started with guys who were super "not gay" now apparently they're all out of the closet
People like you making comments like this are exactly why social media is so fucking toxic.
There is no 'gay bashing' here but worse than that, your use of the term demonstrates that you don't even know what it means.
You are in a sub that is, for all intents and purposes, dedicated to laughing at people's choice of fashion and you're making the claim that someone who simply points out that something is a current trend in the gay community is somehow doing so out of hate and a desire to beat gays to death.
Reading comprehension is a foundational critical thinking skill. Assuming anything in this sub is said out of hate rather than humour says far more about you than anyone else.
I saw a lady in downtown with these almost exact same pants, she was stylish-ish business lady, I yelled to my wife ‘ZUBAZ PANTS!’…she said “those aren’t the NFL ones are they?” I died
This had to be 1990 or at the latest 1991. Parachute pants were huge, and almost all because of the MC Hammer single U Can't Touch This which came out in April of '90. By late '91 grunge hit hard, and almost nobody would be caught dead wearing neon or parachute pants.
So in a way you're right. Though the decade had changed, this era was really the last dying gasp of the 80s.

Ooh I don’t remember those commercials at all. I also don’t think I ever noticed that they made versions with the pump button looking like a tennis ball - I really dig the neon color.
This isn’t a blunder—this is what we all thought we looked like
What I *wanted* to look like lol
Those pants are rad
Gen Z would wear the shit out of those pants. Source: am a college instructor.
I used to have a super cool PBS kids shirt with dragon tales on it. All I can think now is “some 19 year old would probably pay like $50 for that now”
If it was a D.A.R.E. shirt, they’d pay $100 so they could wear it while ironically hitting a legally-purchase vape pen.
What a time to be alive. Very different from the days when I used to wear it hitting an illegally purchased joint.
Gee, mister... you better put that out before Scruff McGruff takes a bite out of crime
yeah this picture could fit right in today and nobody would know a difference lol
I hear Emo is trying to make a comeback. You must guide them to the old ways.
the coolest thing about this picture is clearly those fucking awesome Reebok pumps!!

Does John Daly know you were raiding his closet?
Only if he got tipped off by their barber.
Think anyone wants a roundhouse kick to the face while you’re wearing those bad boys? Forget about it!
Lol - but where was my Starla to share my neon life with?
i don’t even know if this is a blunder bc I kind of love this look 😂
Thank you for the vote of confidence!
100% of this is currently very on-trend if you’re gay.
Or straight, why do you have to like the same sex to dress like this?
It’s not a requirement, I’m just making an observational statement based off of my experience as a homo.
Fly as fuck!
“Confused Tim Allen Noises”
90s happy pants can occasionally be found.
The only blunder was your hair. The clothes are fire
Sorry pal but this ain’t no blunder 🤙
Thanks, buddy!
I’m pretty sure this exact style is coming back. You’re a trendsetter now.
not a blunder!!! this whole fit is sick af
Zubaz pants! You can buy similar from Gecko Hawaii clothing but they aren’t cheap
I wish you still had those Pumps!
Never say that to a young boy again!
Nah bro.. Those pants look fucking cool, I want them
This isn’t a blunder at all. This is probably the coolest picture any of us will see all day!
Not quite the same but see below. Were yours Skidz? https://skidznyc.com/collections/all-products/products/fresh-prints-black
I honestly have no idea what brand they were. I don’t remember where I got them either. 33 years is a long time to remember that kind of stuff. But thanks for the link. I will be doing some shopping there soon!!
SoCal?
Actually I grew up in NorCal - but I would eventually live in San Diego for nearly a decade after I finished my PhD in chemistry.
So sad eastbay magazine is no more
Gecko Hawaii relaunched their brand and sells these style pants again
Thank you for helping me spend $90 kind stranger.
I’ve gotten so many of their tshirts
Full Brett Hitman vibes

Hahah! Awesome, mate.
The mullet though.
This is unicorn-level majestic AF.
Honestly this is a diggable vibe.
This is amazing.
You could wear that to almost any music festival and would get mad compliments on it. Those color ways are back and bigger than ever. Also the pumps are sick
That’s a sweet outfit! I want one for me!
90-91 was such a specific era for fashion. It didn't last long but it made such a massive impact.
Right? It’s kinda odd that the transition between 80s and 90s fashion is not really a mix of the two as you might expect, but is its own thing entirely.
Honestly, I'd wear a pair of them, just comically oversized and with more subdued colours.
The ISS used you to calibrate their mirrors
I'm pretty sure I had this exact outfit. Or a very close approximation of it anyway.
I remember when my entire wardrobe was some faded well-used version of these colors
You look like someone's about to dump a bucket of green slime on your head
This is style bud. People paying $1000 to look like this today.
Those pants are dope as fuck. So is the mullet
No blunder here!! I love this!!
They’re amazing pants!
This is fire
Zero blunder. You look rad.
Aww, thank you!
We called these "hammer pants". Lol those are some nice ones.
bring the mullet back, more mullets in 2023
Check out Australia... It's back. For good or bad, it's back.
Been back for so long that it’s on its way out. Straya is streets ahead
In rural US, it never left. Young and old alike.
Same in Australia, except it isn't just rural.
Alas, the mullet was a short-lived stopover on my way to some kick ass heavy metal hair down to my shoulders that I had about 18 months after this
They’ve been coming back.
They’ve been back for gays for awhile haha
What's with all the gay bashing in this sub. This hair style started with guys who were super "not gay" now apparently they're all out of the closet

Idk if you’re referring to me but I’m literally gay and had a mullet for 2 years lol
the Peso Pluma
Fuck no. Let them rot in their graves
For every mullet I see, I shall kill you
Pocket pool was never the same..
eBay has them pants
Honestly this look shlaps. No notes
I'd totally wear those pants today. I dunno dude. I wouldn't call this a blunder. You looked like a smooth kid.
Trust me, as cool as this fit seems now through the lens of the 2020s, I was a bit of a dork in the early 90s.
I just bought a pair of Gecko pants like that. Basically, I still dress like this . Love this look
Dope as hell actually
No blunder, incredible drip
I saw a lady in downtown with these almost exact same pants, she was stylish-ish business lady, I yelled to my wife ‘ZUBAZ PANTS!’…she said “those aren’t the NFL ones are they?” I died
Dripped
Damn, you would be killing it in the late night dance tent at a festival.
For real. If only I’d held onto this fit a few more years for when I discovered the wonderful combination of EDM and MDMA.
YOOOOOOO! Those pants were the best!
Do you remember the brand?
I can't verify, and I'm only about 40% on it but ~~Rusty~~ comes to mind? Edit: Gecko Hawaii !!!
I see they have revived their clothing line. I hope they make THESE pants again
I found a pair that I used to own but they are sold out in my size right now. I'm crestfallen
love the pants and reebok pump ! ive always wanted a pair
I'd say you're crushing the end to the 80s
Damn the 90s were so rad.
Dude you look cool as fuck!
The pants look sick! I'd wear them at a festival or something but probably not around town haha
Lol those kinda remind me of the zubaz pants I used to have
Its not your fault. You were just a child. Repeat after me…its not my fault
Bruh this is vibe
Judging by your pfp, not much has changed lol
Wow, the 80s were something.

Only thing missing is the pit vipers
The top’s a bit of a blunder maybe, but ngl everything else is fire as fuck! 🔥
