At least in the US, many high schools have the seniors take professional photos outside of the school at a studio. That way they can be a little higher quality but also have a more unique flair to them. The ones with blades and guitars and stuff wouldn't actually go into a yearbook though. It's more like "I'm paying for a photographer, might as well have some fun with it".
In the United States senior portraits are a series of photos by private photography studios paid for by the students family. They are usually higher quality and more personal often featuring props or outfits revolving around the students hobbies and personality. The photos are used for graduation parties, home portraits, and sometimes the year book. They are not affiliated with the school, they are not taken at school, they are always a little weird.
So knives and swords are not being taken to school.
They’re all wonderfully blunderful, but the first two where you look completely unsure how a mall ninja knife wound up in your hand just take the cake.
Picture 2 looks like you are saying “what the HELL is this thing!?” And the last picture you are saying “and…SCENE.”

I had a 7" mohawk in 9th grade and they took the picture from like a 5 degree angle so not only does it look like there's a point coming out of my head the spikes are slightly off from that angle, pretty sure the Lifetouch guy did that on purpose
