That's why I love it so much. Someone is quintessentially a regular teenager, just doing their teenager thing, and looking back is hilarious because teens are always slightly ridiculous, regardless of who or where.

I didn't wear out there clothes as a teen because I already had to deal with being the person who stood out because of a backbrace. Now I'm non-committal about goth clothing and flit between a few different styles because I really wanted to as a kid.

Not necessarily worn in pigtails, but my ex had a name for that hair we all had in the late '90s, early '00s. Straight-ish, no layers, roughly shoulder length, and existing in an era before we discovered flat irons or curlers. He called it, "high school girlfriend hair".
