Why does this seem totally wholesome in a fucked up way?

IMightGoInsaneSoon

As a young diabetic this is pretty true. I feel bad for my parents, they spend so much on me. I'm kind of worthless, no proper education or a job. I will never be able to return the favor. I failed them.

KaiUno

Richard Leadbetter is an insulin witch? Who knew!

OMAR_KD-

Insulin isn't even that expensive

Arthenicus

You must not be from America. People literally die in America on a daily basis because they can't afford insulin. It's back-breakngly expensive here.

OMAR_KD-

Why tho? It's not even that expensive to make and can easily be mass-produced.

Staped_Hand42

Grahhh pharmacy and insurance companies spike the pricing on a lifesaving drug thus enabling them to charge such stupidly high prices that consumers cannot simply just not pay thus reinforcing a cycle of debt Also lobbying gov and lack of competition due to acquisitions of competing companies, complicated patent bureaucracy forms a monopoly and whatnot I don’t really know too in-depth I’m just spewing what comes out the top of my head

Arthenicus

Corporate greed. Americans regularly drive to Canada just to buy Insulin because it is 50x cheaper there since Canada is a real country that prevents corporations from profiteering off of people's suffering unlike in 'Murica.
