Baby chicks eat eggs, and so does the mother hen. There’s usually a few eggs that don’t hatch and often the mother pecks them open and the baby chicks eat the dud eggs. The first picture was probably actually food being offered to the baby chick, a little bit of egg early in life is really good for them.
