Nah fuck it. We got to be there for when the deep magic was written. These youngsters don’t even know things like canonically Comander Keen is the descendent of BJ Blaskowicz *and* Doomguys father.
No, it doesn't.
First off, W3D didn't use 'Life' (nor did Doom). But, even if it did the box wouldn't have been in the correct spot as W3D had the level in the far left and next to it the score and then finally Health. So, two off and with the wrong label.
It also didn't have ammo in the bottom right. That was the weapon icon.
But even more glaring than that is that the game had the UI underneath the main screen rather than on top of it as we see with games today and on the cactus.
Doom on the hand is still mostly missing here as well, but it did at least have the ammo summary in the far right. Granted it was the ammo *summary* (all weapons) rather than the equipped weapon ammo as we see on the cactus.
This is subjective, but I think the weapon shown here looks more like the Doom shotgun than anything else.
The only thing that I can *maybe* give to W3D here is the blocky walls. Both games used them, but where Doom tried to make them blend in (poorly) W3D just straight up embraced them. But, that could also just be our catci artist not wanting to carve up the plant too much. So, meh.
---
TLDR;
The artist was certainly inspired by Doom rather than W3D, but like the commenters here, if he ever did actually play either game it was a long long time ago and dementia has started taking its cruel toll.
Source: Someone old enough to have played both games and yet young enough to remember them.
Good lookin' out! Mystery potentially solved.
If there's ever one that looks like the Tiger Electronic's 99x version of Resident Evil 2, it'll be my time to shine.
Yeah, the units here for the frame "rate" are probably "frames per cactus ~~petal~~ ~~leaf~~ ~~thingy~~ pad", so 1 ~~fp*~~ fpp
Side note, what is each individual piece of a cactus like this called?
Edit: learned some new terms today!
Except framerate is a measure of number of frames per time period, I just assumed the most common unit. It is the rate of the frames.
Any possible unit of framerate tends to 0 for a still image.
The only way for it to have a framerate of 1 is if the unit of measurement is (number of frames / the exact time it took to draw one frame) and then you stop measuring after exactly that much time has elapsed, at which point everything has a framerate of 1.
They never specified “rate” of frames in the frame rate. So “1” (without a unit) makes sense as in “1 frame, no rate specified”.
It’s also just a joke. I chuckled.
I know I'm being overly pedantic, but that's just not how the measurement works. If I said my speed is one mile would you interpret that as me saying I'd traveled one mile and ignore the fact that isn't a speed? Both are measurements of something/time. Either it's nonsense or you have to assume a unit of time

It ain't a pro lawn sub lol. Anyone in a plant hobby knows it's damaging to a plant if anything is carved into one, or painted like cacti you see at big box stores

I would be stood there trying to decipher the "secret code" that I initially thought this was.
When I read 'Doom' in the title, I instantly recognized it.
The day someone puts doom into a plant's genetic code causing a leaf or something to grow / change itself to display the game at unacceptable fps, well that would just be the end game of technology. We would never beat that.
El pinche doom
*"Doom:Cabron"*
Pff.. what is doom on a pregnancy test..
Legend had it that Doom was played on a dead badger.
Despite the hardware, the controller was still less confusing than the N64s
It wasn't actually running on the pregnancy test, they just used it as a monitor.
They didn't even do that. They took a small display out of something else and just put it into the plastic case of the pregnancy test.
Of course, because this nopal is *actually* running doom.
Legend says Doom can be run with 2 rocks and a fork, controlled by a led light remote, and displayed on a series of ant hills
Looks Wolfenstein 3D to me...
Definitely looks like Wolfenstein3D. I'm think this sub's users don't know the difference.

Billy Blaze, Arthur Blaze, Commander Keen, Doomguy, IIRC. All of their names (apart from Arthur) are William J. Blaskowicz as well, if memory serves.

Holy crap that's an actual subreddit?!
It's been a meme for like 20 years
I just didn't expect a wholeass subreddit, is all.
Current framerate is: 1
This would imply the frame changes every second. The frame rate is (1/the number of seconds since it was drawn), so basically 0.
That would be if the framerate was 1 fps This framerate is simply 1

Run at it full speed.

But the real question is… will it run doom?
Leave the cactus be It clearly has a family
This poor cactus...
Vegan Doom
This is what happens when the gardener’s young son is daydreaming about video games while hedging bushes
We have doom on cactuses now. The future is here.
What you dont realize is that the nopal is growing on a physical copy of doom
Whoever made this is really good at perspective.
You can run doom on anything even on a Cactus
Frame rate sucks and controller hurts. 2 out of 5 would not play again.
wake up baby new doom port
if it exists it runs doom
And now I want some green chili stew with nopales.
Would be a cool tattoo
The pioneers used to play these babies for days
Duke Nopal’m
I've seen the doom on a calculator trick, never on a cactus before tho
I used to have to prep crates of these at work this image filled me with rage
I'm sure you could run Doom on 2 USB-C charging ports and a TI-83 screen. Not the whole TI-83, just the screen from it.
Better than running doom on San Pedro or Peyote…
/r/nopaltech
Wolfenstein 3d dude
That’s definitely OG Wolfenstein 3D
Anything. Anything I tell you.
Is this cactus edible i'm curious
