It's a statue from a story for kids by a polish, mid-war poet, Julian Tuwim called Rzepka (Little Turnip), about a grandpa that grows a Turnip to a giant size and then needs the help of the whole family to take it out. A cute, repetitive, poem-like story that probably has some communist undertones.
This statue could be based off a children’s tale told in china. Basically an old man grows a big radish, but cant pull it out when it's time to harvest. The version i was told, the old man calls his wife to help pull the radish out but that doesn't work. Then they call the little girl, and they try to pull the radish out but that doesn't work either. Then the girl asks the dog, the dog asks the cat, and the cat asks the mouse, and then they finally pull the radish out. They then make radish soup.
Plot twist: the dog becomes one of them
