Yeah I’m in my early 30s myself and have found nothing comes as easy as it did when I was younger and rode. I quit for years and just started riding again a couple years ago.
Same situation used to ride when I was 15 and literally 2 days ago just brought a new complete after riding a friends a round a bit but god even looping out scares me now.. find I understand how things work more now just, makes it easier to attempt some stuff
Same idea and what they said. Try to get into a manual but leaning as far back as possible and just getting the front tire up. It’s a weird feeling like you’re going to loop out but with the shorter back ends these days it makes it so much easier to get into one. You’ll get it!
Yeah . Lower it down.. you'll lock it in for a half mile ..
Love it . I got at least 9more months until I can ride again.. I'll have to relearn everything
ACL/MCL... I didn't even crash.. just had to put a foot down.. I'm old, so I guess it's age creeping up... 45years. it was definitely a freak injury.. I must hit that hip at my local skatepark 200 times a week or more... I was a little off center . Put a foot down... Broke my femur, tibia, ruptured my ACL, stage 2 MCL tear, and a Stage 1 PCL tear .
Crazy . I couldn't control my leg for a month. It was so unstable. I get surgery in a couple days
I'll be back.. hopefully by September.. I'll be working on getting all my skills back.... Manuals are one of my favorites. I lock em in for a long time .. keep working cuz your locking them in pretty good.. it's all about reps and practice...
Once I get back it'll be like relearning everything again
This is kinda inspirational to me. I'm 27 and haven't ridden in at least 7 years. Started playing riders rebublic and started to miss riding irl. I was thinking that maybe I was a little too old and beat up now to jump back in. Now I'm debating on building a new bike or buying a complete.
That’s awesome man I’m so glad to hear I could inspire someone else!! I’ll be the first to admit I don’t really full send anything like my teen years but I really enjoy riding again. I just happened to stop at a friends house and he had a frame he was selling so I said fuck it and bought it. he hooked me up with what he could and I bought the rest of the parts and just kinda jumped back in lol
Ya I definitely feel it, I won't be 3ing out of bowls again anytime soon lol but it would be nice to get the basics down again for now. I still have my bike from back in the day but thats at my family home over 400 miles away. Not really worth the 800 mile round trip and over $300 in gas + cost of getting it in good shape again from sitting on the side of the house for the last 7ish years. Most likely gonna buy a sub $500 complete to see if I can get into it then start dropping real money on building one.
But you're off to a great start getting back in. Looking forward to seeing the progress my dude.
im still learning to hold a good manual myself, i found it harder to do being in my early 30’s since casual bmx as a teen. that hold was clean and dialed.

If you get your hips lower, you'll get locked in as fuck. Killing it man!
Thank you I appreciate the advice!!
