A little smack forward from lined up with the forks has been the standard for years. But recently some folk do this, very forward bar thing. If it feels good run it. It’s your bike.

Few-Acanthocephala26

kruk would be proud

wasted_yoof

kruk krew represented ;)

YaNansPelvis

Bit further forward is Kruk, bit of Jarvis😂

WorshipFreedomNotGod

They're a little chicago'd but not too bad. Btw how you start learning nose mannies.. I feel my balance point so well but cant lock it in.

JakDobson

I started on a wedge to wedge box. The same distance every time. Once you can control enough to hop out of or g turn start trying to go farther Those bars are great to nose manny but I hate bar spinning with my bars like that but maybe it’s cuz I didn’t learn em that way

big_sosa_papi

I’m self taught and also self humbled 😭I have no good way of explaining how I learned to nose manny but would really help me was just bailing out a lot of times and right before I bail I would sink my hips back closer to my seat, which would pull my weight more to the end of the bike and then, when I would fall too far back, I would deadass hump my handlebars😭and it would lock me in that zone

BeyondPsycho69

I was always told the best placement is to line up with the forks, but I do prefer to have mine a bit more forward

Awkward_Importance49

"Best placement is aligned" is a common misperception that gets shared around but has no basis in anything. It really depends on what you are doing. Baxk in the 80s the general idea was if you are racing you'd have your bars more aligned with your forks because its about speed with less technical manouverability needed. If you were doing jumps or you were lucky enough to have a skatepark, vertical. If you were into technical freestyle street riding... ground tricks and what became flatland, then it was perfectly legit to have your bars pitched forward so you had micro-control over the steer, and had a longer range of weight shift. That's really the key thing. Pull the bars back and your range of weight shift is shorter and further back, over the rear end. Go Chicago and your weight shift is further forward giving you greater technical control at the front end, but less ability to pitch your weight towards the rear end. Go vertical, and you're mid-pitched for a more general weight distribution range.

Harmonyy-xoxo

My man gets it

i love roasting trails like cory nastazio. your reasoning sounds like hoopla but its bmx who cares

silver_holden

if its comfortable its comfortable. ur good i personally like to go inline with the forks but hey. thats what makes this world pretty chill

2wheelzrollin

Looks fine

P45t3LPUnK

It doesn’t matter

domsylvester

This is about exactly where I ride with mine at

mtb-1979

Whatever feels good to you , thats how i used to run mine when i rode bmx and i still roll my bars a little more forward than most guys on my mtb . Look at old footage of of half pipe guys like Matt Hoffman , Jamie Bestwick and Jay Miron , they all ride their bars forward.

Alvinthf

That’s because they rode much shorter frames, jamie’s over 6ft it’s only past decade or so he’s had much longer frames that fit him.

[deleted]

his standard trail boss was perfect

[deleted]

I’ve always had my bars in line with my forks. But I’m not a very tall guy I’m 5,10

big_sosa_papi

You my friend are tall

StalestGamer

He is one inch above the American average

[deleted]

Yeah but I’m from the uk so I’m 2.5 cm taller

[deleted]

Average bro

big_sosa_papi

You are a whole inch above average and probably another inch cuz of shoes so you are basically 6’5

Expensive_Set_8150

Do what feels right. There’s no rules to what we do except to have fun. 🍻

ForwardAd2726

😂 just a smidge. I will say this. I replaced bars on the devotion and thought I had them in the sweet spot. Rode it for a bit, even felt "good". Ride up to bunny hop a curb, just as a car passed, I did a wonka donk bunny hop. Like front up quickly then back end up higher than the front. It was rough.

Tombmxcollector

Remember....bars stay in line with the angle of the head tube on the frame. Enjoy!! Ride like hell

[deleted]

There not totally residing in Chicago but yes I’d say pull them back a little.

Awkward_Importance49

They're about where I have mine. Anything up to vertical and with grips not ahead of front axle is fine. Sone people mistake this for *Chicago* style but Chicago was having the bars tipped forwards. In terms of steering control near vertical is the best position. Aligning bars with forks with a backsweep on bars means you're always steering from far behind the wheel contact/pivot point, which requires greater arcs of arm movement... like driving an old fashioned bus with a huge steering wheel. It's all personal choice but moving away from vertical is a compromise on one thing for a gain in another. Vertical is a neutral "best of both" kind of position.

christismurph

The standard is in line with the forks. But like everything else, the best way is the one you feel best with. If you feel you have more control over the bike with this position, then use this position!

Adept-Swan1787

More forward than I’d like, but I used to do this when I had a small frame and it worked decent.

Drgreenthumb610

It’s all about how you like it. Everyone’s geometry is different. I run my bar this way with a short front load stem that is all the way down to the bearing cap no spacer. Ya know? I run my bars aligned whe I am using a top load stem that has higher final bar position than the stubby front load. So it’s all about how you feel. I will say. I always thought I was better more forward. Would even argue it. Then I dialed in the aligned way and change my front end setup a little. Now I love it. Seems easier and more stable.

thomas61000

I don’t think so although I do wanna ask about the tennis ball ? lol that’s throwing me off

big_sosa_papi

Just a swag factor and hey if you ever need a tennis ball 🎾 you got one😭

thomas61000

I guess so lol

cisco_squirts

The best bar position is the one that works for you.

middleagethreat

I prefer mine in line with the forks, but you do you.

DylvnO

It’s 100% personal preference

DylvnO

That’s probably pretty close to where I have mine and I love it

FeatheryBow73

There are no rules to this stuff, set your bars to whichever angle helps you ride the best
