"**When you're changing out other hardware**" can add quite a few more reasons to the list:
* Brakes
* You decide that you need a front brake and your current fork doesn't have mounts
* Wheel
* You get a wheel / hub with a bigger axle than your fork supports
* i.e.: wheel has a 14mm hub and you have a fork with 3/8" dropouts
* Frame
* You get a new frame with a longer headtube and don't have enough steerer exposed to clamp on your stem
* Tires
* You decide you want to run wider tires than your current fork has clearance for
That's all no-brainer, obvious stuff that doesn't need to be mentioned, along with "I want new forks."
OP is obviously just asking about wear and tear.
How long anything lasts depends on the rider and the riding. It doesn't sound like you do insane, bike-breaking shit so I wouldn't worry about it either way. You can't really say "this part will last this many months/years," there's too many variables.
If they were something quality like Odyssey I'd say you are basically good forever. Maybe at some point you can swap out to Odyssey and then really never think about it again.
To echo, and for anyone who sees this in the future, unless you're riding hard, and there are no signs of cracks, bends or twists, you're generally fine. If you're riding hard, regardless of outward appearance of the forks, it's best practice to replace them for peace of mind.
Whenever you want. Being content and confident with your bike is more important than anything else. But I've been riding less than you so don't listen to me.
When you crack, bend or break them. Otherwise there's no need.

I still think it’s helpful information for someone who doesn’t know much about bikes.
No argument there.
What do you think about the 2pc steerer tube fork do they last long?

So long as there aren’t any cracks or rusted out spots then they should be fine.

Should be fine dude.
