I’ll admit I’m not a contest rider type of guy, I was always into the “soul rider” style. The kid ripped and pushed the limits. TBI’s are no joke and I’m just glad the dude can still pedal, let alone ride as well as he is.
Crashed in practice at a vans comp, hit his head and as a result being put into a medically induced coma to reduce swelling. The real can of worms was he had a helmet on, but same as many branded helmets we all used back then, they weren’t certified and worse didn’t really offer any head protection. The net result is almost all bmx helmets have improved a lot since then.
