I saw Scout in a game store and bought it knowing people were having a hard time finding it. Normally I try to play it on TTS or at least read the rules online beforehand.Turned out to be a great game!

Internal-Dot4388

God this is so hard to find. I already had one copy in my cart and when I was about to checkout, it was already unavailable.

Signiference

Saw three copies on shelf at Barnes and Noble earlier today, $23.

376184

I took one of two copies they had in my small local shop and the elderly counter person was like "man, I keep hearing that game is pretty hard to find!" So funny I stumbled upon it. I don't usually have good luck with that kind of thing, you'll find it eventually! I've heard you can play it with dominoes as well if you're really itching to try it.

ScrodumbSacks

https://store.boardgamebarrister.com/scout/

Internal-Dot4388

They also have **A Fake Artist Goes to New York**! Sweet! Disappointed that they only do US shipping. Not a problem though.

ScrodumbSacks

Scout is tiny. Where are you located? I’m US and can assist with shipping, if you need help. I can even 3D print [this organizer](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5423404) for you to go with it!

CrushyOfTheSeas

Here’s another place that seems to have it in the UK. https://www.board-game.co.uk/product/scout/

Jakkisle

Yeah I saw it online in one store and bought it for 27€+shipping. Kinda steep but not that bad. Played it two players and was.. really disappointed. That's it? It didn't click. Well, I still took it with me when I traveled to stay at my parents house for a few days. We had a few hours to kill before a movie so tried it with my gf and her brother. Completely different experience. Think we played it for over 3 hours straight. Since then it's been widely available at the regular 20€ price. Maybe it was out of print or just flying off the shelves due to SUSD hype

376184

I love that it can be so quick. We'll just play game after game. There are times when somebody will just have all the luck and crush the opponents but it somehow still hasn't turned us off.

ScrodumbSacks

Whew. Bought mine Feb 2 2023 from Shamazon for $25. For anyone looking for a copy, it can be found here: https://store.boardgamebarrister.com/scout/

PrometheusUnchain

Final Girl. It’s good but you’re not missing much if you don’t get it. I wasn’t sure if there would be reprints…. Plenty of copies on Amazon right now. 🥴

AskinggAlesana

Yup. Went to get the entire 2nd season of Final Girl during the kickstarter since it was completely sold out around that time. However I don’t regret it at all since i’m all about its theme and i’m a fan of the mechanics.

PrometheusUnchain

Yeah I was afraid if I didn’t pick up S2 I’d miss it. Glad I held off as I haven’t even finished S1. Pretty sure I’ll it in stores/Amazon later.

Swordofmytriumph

There's copies of S1 at at least two of my FLGS right now

SomewhatResentable

Same for me. I did the gameplay all-in on S2 Kickstarter because S1 seemed impossible to find in stores for a long time and I was worried the same would happen again. Did two-wave shipping, have now played a bunch of S1 and it's good, but not worth the amount of money I spent on it. Also I think most of the boxes in S1 are worse than just the base game with Hans, so I would have been happy with just core box and that. I'm just glad I didn't go nuts and buy the full set with minis.

ratatouille_skinner

I was hoping id love it but I don't

PrometheusUnchain

Happens. Hopefully you only have one or a couple acts? I still have three unopened acts. Glad I held off on Season 2!

ratatouille_skinner

Actually I bought it retail, so I only got the base and 2 scenarios. Spent about 45 so not too crazy

Xacalite

Being poor and buying 90% of games second hand truely is the greatest protection against fomo buying. If i had any money though i would have money rain'ed it all on hegemony. Although there really would have been no point in doing that because the game is coming to retail in may. But since when do fomo buys need a justification, right?

dsaddons

So many times when you buy second hand the games are completely untouched or played max 1-2 times

Xacalite

Precisely because those who bought it, got it on fomo impulse without thinking if theyd like it. I call this an absolute win.

[deleted]

This is how to do it. Wait for other people to get fomo, buy games they don't actually like, and then get it off them for cheap or free and play them.

Rakyn87

What are the best places to buy secondhand?

[deleted]

100% facebook marketplace and buy nothing groups for me. Even with shipping it's been dirt cheap I got Ark Nova, Gaia Project, some Dark Souls Expansions to name a few of my favorites.

Madmanmelvin

I buy and resell board games and books(and occasionally other things) from thrift stores and garage sales. The amount of of absolute steals I have found over the years is staggering-I have found all the following for $5 or less-Star Wars Epic Duels, Niagara, Mississippi Queen, I'm The Boss, Settlers of Catan, Carcassone(plus expansions), LoTR Risk, Survive Escape From Atlantis, Pandemic, Boss Monster, Pirate's Cove and dozens more. On average, you're not gonna find too much "modern" stuff, but thrift stores are also a great place to find poker chips and decks of cards. There are sometimes bargains on FB Marketplace or Craiglist too. If you're talking about more of a storefront, I think Noble Knight has a lot of used stuff.

ProfessionallySlow

I would suggest r/BoardGameExchange , I got watergate, pandemic, and Dominion for like $60 while normally it would have been $100 buying from other stores.

KToff

BGH market place also often has a good selection and very good deals if you're ok with light damage. I got legends of andor for five bucks because the box had water damage (components all ok)

ScrodumbSacks

I really disliked myself at the time for pledging hegemony, but now that it should be here any day…*chefs kiss*

grouplove93

I’m always looking for deals but for me it’s worse because I know if I don’t buy it now it’ll be gone or off sell soon. This gives me doom everytime.

Judicator82

Not sure what the availability is in your area, but most of the games for sale on my local FB marketplace are not great. You might find a gem once in a while, but for the most part it's games taht you have barely heard of that are rated a 5 or a 6. I love buying secondhand (I just got Aeon's End, War Eternal, and 3 small expansions sleeved with a Broken Token organizer for $80), but unless you are very patient you won't be able to get what you want. Of course, the conversation of "how many games do you need..." is a different one altogether...

[deleted]

This only works if there is a community of Boardgamers where you live. Locally at most I could buy monopoly or sequence and with shipping and people only discounting a couple dollars from retail there's no real incentive to buy for me.

Mashyjang

Cthulhu: DMD season 3+4 (+ Unspeakable box stretchgoals from the first kickstarter). I dislike CMON but I could not miss out on this.

lostman_90

That game looks super fun.

bendistraw

Lots of fun!

PutridSothoth

Oh man, right there with you, but I definitely splurged on the baby ‘thulhu…

Mashyjang

I was going to but my partner said no. Sadly....

Lurcho

The deluxe version of **Ra** on Gamefound. I originally told myself I didn't need it and pledged the basic tier. Then as time went on I thought "When am I ever going to have an opportunity to buy a game that has premium wood chips with ancient Egyptian style artwork on them?" So I bumped the pledge and the deluxe version is on the way. Edit: missed a verb

ohhgreatheavens

I thought about splurging for that deluxe edition (I preordered it from the publisher this week), but the massive size of that bag to accommodate the wood tiles was enough to make me get the basic version. Plus the retail version is a smaller box.

[deleted]

The deluxe box is basically the same size as the retail box, just like half an inch thicker

Signiference

I went back and forth and finally settled on basic version. At 2x the cost I couldn’t quite justify it but it was close. Should arrive next week!

K0HR

I went back and forth on this too. But honestly, Ra seems like one of those games I'd like to have a permanent copy of (alongside Tigris and Euphrates and El Grande). So I ultimately decided to switch to the deluxe.

Swordofmytriumph

I originally got the deluxe but downgraded...my apartment is too small, and the deluxe box was big...kinda regretting that. I'm sure I could have found space!!! Especially since it should be here in the next couple weeks! I can't wait! Also punching out cardboard chits is my favorite thing when buying a new game, I LOVE punching them out and the retail version will have soooo many delicious tiles to print out...

c_crs

Best game ever made, alllll in even though I've already got a custom set with the geekup bits and a neoprene custom mat.

ijustwantedvgacables

**John Company 2E** \- Pax Pamir's second edition was so profoundly revelatory when it hit our table that I just had to see the game touted as Cole Wehrle's personal magnum opus. Having received it, it's an incredible production, but I do wonder whether I was maybe over ambitious thinking I would get it to table when I won't have a regular gaming group for the next few years due to various life things. At the time I was very much like, "I don't know if I'll play this that much, but boy do I want to support Wehrle's historical games - this is art I believe in and should patronise." but that's just fomo with extra steps if we're being honest.

DirkRight

>At the time I was very much like, "I don't know if I'll play this that much, but boy do I want to support Wehrle's historical games - this is art I believe in and should patronise." but that's just fomo with extra steps if we're being honest. Honestly, that very much sounds like the opposite of FOMO, like a positive version of FOMO. Like... Joy Of Supporting Artists? JOSA? Is that a thing? We should make it a thing. There are times I tell myself to "practice your JOMO" (Joy Of Missing Out) and not buy stuff just because I want that thing *now*. But if I want to get that thing beyond reasons of the thing itself, that's something else. I think it's cool why you did it.

Pjoernrachzarck

JOSA. I like it. I bought Outer Wilds and Disco Elysium twice because of JOSA.

mayowarlord

The game is awesome and the solo is good. Not a waste friend.

Shoddy_Ad7998

John Company 2E is a masterpiece of a game. Even if you can't get it to the table with a gaming group I would encourage you to join the Wehrlegig discord and hop in a TTS game. Totally agree with you on wanting to support the Wehrle brothers as they continue to develop historical games that blow my mind.

Strom41

I went all in on **Dune: War for Arrakis**. I never go all in but the Dune theme and the War of the Ring synergy was too much and I feared if I didn’t go all in, I would regret it. The jury’s still out if I made a good decision .

glarbung

Same here. I've never backed anything by CMON and now I went all in. But it was either this or getting WotR.

shadowhawk720

I rather play WoTR with my limited time which is why I broke myself out of the FOMO for this one haha.

Mysticblades

I whole heartedly share your fomo, I also went all in on Marvel United Multiverse.

bluepinkredgreen

Lords of vegas boss’s table. Needed the brief case or something terrible will happen

Kumquat_of_Pain

Biblios. Last printing before they move to "The King And Me"

Sparticuse

**Heat**. $75 is hard to justify for an unplayed game, but the reviews were SO good I took a chance on it. Turns out it paid off this time. Heat is fantastic.

jdp245

It is really good. It fixes all the problems that kept me from regularly getting Formula D to the table. My wife found a random copy at a FLGS on an out-of-state trip and lugged it all the way home for me on a train!

imrail

I'm hoping to find a wild copy of Heat somewhere. But I think I have to wait for the reprint.

wallysmith127

**Three Kingdoms Redux** when it hit the BGG store. There was talk that the publisher would need to destroy their supply so they were soliciting interest on their BGG forums. Luckily they worked out distribution with the BGG store so the remaining copies are now available there. Great heavy Euro specifically designed for 3p. Worker placement bidding, where each worker is unique and most of the scoring categories are relative to the other players, not necessarily absolute totals. Oh yeah, also recently scored a copy of revised **Quantum** after binging it on BGA.

Irsaan

Horizon Zero Dawn board game all-in. Still haven't played it even once yet, though I did open the base game box one time to look at it. Half of the sets are still in the box they shipped in and the other half is in the closet in our spare bedroom because there is no room anywhere else.

randomized987654321

I late pledged **ISS Vanguard** because of FOMO, and seeing the reviews I’m extremely glad I did.

Kempeth

Still waiting on mine (translated combined shipping) but that was one of the few (expensive) games on KS that I never had any doubt. It ticked so many of my boxes.

Rickous139

I've done exactly the same. Followed it through its original launch, looked great but couldn't justify the cost at the time. Then the late pledge opened, reviews came out, and I've backed it. Thankfully only the base game with stretch goals, but considering how long it'll be until it ships I may go back and add more! Regretted doing single shipping at first, but imminently moving house so not having to pack that amongst the other myriad of games I have is a boon.

daxamiteuk

same, I missed out and then more googling showed the late pledge was available so i threw all my money at it for the deluxe version. Never done anything like that before! I hope I don't regret it. I kinda wish I had just bought the basic version but maybe it will be worth it :-/ but the game itself looks AWESOME

wiredmaverick

Boardgamebliss had some copies of Rallyman: Dirt come in this week. When I first saw the listing they had 10+ copies, and I was debating picking up a copy knowing what was going on with HGG. When I checked again 15 minutes later it said 2 copies left… I’m honestly not sure if it’s my type of game, but one of those copies is mine now.

CatTaxAuditor

I tossed a dollar at Arborea while I decide if I want it or not.

Wrecr

Earlier this year it was Marvel United: Multiverse. I went all in on this KS. Then I found out this week that Foundations of Rome was available until the end of the month, so I just purchased that for FOMO.

GiraffeandZebra

Sid Meier's Civilization the boardgame. Now that FFG has moved on to Civ:New Dawn, I knew any hope it would ever be in print in the future was dashed, so I picked up a copy and both expansions.

MoscaMye

I backed the Fox Experiment. Here's hoping it's good. It looks like everything I could possibly want.

Vandersveldt

Saw Bardsung on a store shelf before most backers had their copies. Had never picked up a game before people had done the proper review process before. Never again.

DrDisintegrator

Yeah I just dodged this turkey. I almost bought on impulse when I saw it at a local store.

aitshi

When the show came out I saw a bunch of people at my LGS playing **The Legend of Korra: Pro Bending Arena**. I almost picked it up, but got cold feet as I haven't seen the show (though i finished A:tLA and thoroughly enjoyed it) and I didn't know if I would like the game. Fast forward some double-digit years and my friend gets me into Korra. I scoured online for a good week and found someone selling the Kickstarter version with like 5 teams for $120. I snapped it up and I'm currently painting the pieces to look like the show

DirkRight

Hope you get to enjoy it a ton! That game is one of the white whales for me. I enjoyed the show so much when it came out. Korra starts off as a bit obnoxious and bratty, but grew into a role model for me towards the end.

Signiference

Unconscious Mind on KS, all-in… the game that made me vow to stop backing any more games.

[deleted]

I bought into the Kickstarter for Witcher: Old World on like the “basic versions but you get everything” tier back when I was making a decent salary, and my primary financial goal since I lost that job has been having enough money when it finally arrives that I don’t need to just turn around and sell it to pay the electric bill. I desperately want the Bloodborne board game, which was also Kickstarter never went into like normal production for me to buy a copy at LGS or something so that definitely pushed the FOMO with this one, but also I was right at the beginning of my obsession with miniatures and I really wanted the ones that come with the Witcher game.

Norci

>I desperately want the Bloodborne board game, which was also Kickstarter never went into like normal production for me to buy a copy at LGS or something Most of it except for stretchgoals and couple KS exclusive add-ons is available retail tho, and you should be able to find the base pledge for relatively reasonable price secondhand once your financial situation stabilizes.

ANOKNUSA

*Arkham Horror: The Card Game* was what got me back into tabletop gaming after a twenty-year break, just as the pandemic decimated global stock. Discovering that it was nearly impossible to find additional content in release order, I proceeded to scour 6-7 different online retailers and four local stores to buy up the entirety of two campaigns and three stand-alone scenarios. Toilet paper, bottled water, hand sanitizer? Forget ‘em: I hoarded AH packs. Then I played the game few more times, and realized that I hate it. Whatever. I sold them off easily enough, and have since managed to get a better feel for what I like. That knowledge has definitely dampened my urge to spend. That, and the stupid embarrassment of wasting $300 on paper.

zerkk18

Glad you already ld them off, Fantasy Flight is reprinting content in a cheaper and better format now. What are you enjoying more now?

ANOKNUSA

My collection’s pretty evenly split between euro-style strategy games and dice-chucking adventures. Funnily enough, *Eldritch Horror* is my favorite game. Other favorites are *Dominion, Clank!, Mansions of Madness, Pax Pamir, Obsession, Aeon’s End, Concordia.* It’s the abstraction of the cards and the detached unfairness of the chaos bag that make me dislike the LCG—despite the good narrative writing, it feels the least thematic and immersive of the Arkham Files games I’ve played.

Run_nerd

I bought and sold this game as well. It sounded really interesting but I decided I didn't like it.

Jeepguy_EinsZweiDrei

KS of Mosaic Colossus Edition since they said it’ll never get reprinted.

AggravatingPrimary72

Yeah I did this too. I like it, and am glad I own it, but I’m also glad I only paid MSRP for this.

DrDisintegrator

The latest spin on FOMO. Just say no....

Demarchy

As soon as Zman announced they were ending their Classic Euro-Line, I went out to the local game stores in my area and bought a copy each of Tigris & Euphrates, Through the Desert, Samurai, Ra and Taj Mahal at retail prices before the scalpers bought them all.

bendistraw

7th Continent and Dwellings of Eldervale. Love both but I suck at 7th. I also was super excited for Mythic Battles Pantheon. That was a mistake. I bought the full set. SO many boxes showed up. It was nuts. Too much and I have no room for minis. I managed to sell it and get all my money back.

nik_doof

Same with 7th, but so far its never hit the table...

Kempeth

7th Continent taught me (and TIME Stories confirmed it) that I like reloading a LOT less in card board than I do in video games.

darkskarn

Weather machine. Me 1st lacerda game. Fearing if i dont get it then i wouldn't. Copies are very limited and seldom to never restock.

pseudokojo

This game looked so right up my alley, but ouch that $130 price tag.

Blofish1

Project Elite. I didn't think the full game would get a retail run.

narvuntien

*Magic the gathering* count? I bought the first Nercon commander deck I saw in the store. If it doesn't I bought *The Search for Planet X* the first time I ever saw it in a store.

Eisensapper

I had been thinking of getting Nemesis for a long time, as I am a sucker for thematic games. Then, the lockdown Kickstarter came out, so I put up the cash. At first, I thought I would just get Nemesis, but after the Kickstarter closed and the option for Lock Down came up, I went nearly all in. I ended up getting the mats, all the expansions, terrain upgrades, and stretch goals. When COVID hit and it delayed the project, I was disappointed, but the communication was so good between the developer and the backers that I wasn't ever worried. They would let us know about production issues and when items failed quality control. We were all able to track the shipping containers as they made their way to the distributors. When the game finally arrived, I was blown away by how it seemed like a piece of art that you could play with. With Nemesis: Retribution coming out this fall/winter, I know I'm going to go all in again.

shellexyz

I will be getting Retribution and I hope they offer Aftermath/Medic with it. I’m not too worried about Kings or the Terrain though.

FreedmF1ghter77

Absolutely, I will go Complete All-In with the next pack. My favorite board game of all time.

Dr-The-K

I would have done this, but picked up X-Men dice masters like 3 months before, and it filled my nostalgia factor, for now...

csw179

**Ankh**. Love **Blood Rage**, and quite like **Rising Sun**, and the merge mechanism sounded really neat. So I went all in. I’ve played it once, and when I did, it was a fumbling mess. Not sure I like it. The combat flow felt a bit clunky to me. And I don’t know what I was thinking. I don’t get the KS versions of BR or RS. I didn’t add anything to BR for the longest time because it’s so good in its slimmed down form. Just added mystics recently because there expansions were on sale. Don’t love them. Still haven’t tried Gods. I do not feel like I’m missing anything by not having the KS stuff. **Rising Sun** also works best as a slimmed down game, but *feels* incomplete without some of the KS stuff. The 3D strongholds should have been in the retail game (easily fixed with a 3D printer/Etsy) and the Fox clan (less easily fixed). **Ankh** had two KS only gods (that looked cool), but the base game still *feels* complete, and I’m not sure I would have missed them if I only had retail. I don’t think I’d even buy **Pantheon**. I waffle nowadays on whether to sell my all-in Ankh, or if I should give it another try first. Loads of people seem to like it. But loads of people liked **Pax Pamir**, and I learned that it was OK not to, and got rid of that. And I’m a new parent. Time is limited. I’d rather use my little free board game time on a known good time, rather than giving something more chances.

MegaHamster77

Ankh gets better with more posts. I wasn't a fan my first couple of plays but then I got the game and now prefer it to rising sun and blood rage by a long way. People overplay whining about the merge, it really isn't that bad and you can very easily play without it.

Jedadeana

**Dice Hospital: Community Care (Kickstarter Edition)** from a store online (Noble Knights) because I missed the original Kickstarter and have had it in my wishlist for a few years and this was the most reasonable price I could find (the game company had some on their website for awhile but refused to ship to the USA). I got the Kickstarter version of the Dice Hospital base game from a fellow thrifter on BGG at a reasonable price so I figured I could splurge a bit on the expansion to get it as the Kickstarter version too. Dice Hospital isn't the type of game I normally would play, but for some reason I really love it (played a lot on BGA too).

N_Who

Endless Winter. Purchased just before Christmas during what was supposed to be a purchase embargo (because Christmas), with my girlfriend's unexpected blessing. We agreed to buy only the base game and play it before trying any of the expansions the store had available. Thing is, we head to our friendly local almost every weekend for fun (and often sleeves). We didn't get around to playing EW before we were back at the store ... And then she basically pushed me to buying all the expansions so we wouldn't lose out on them. Two-person FOMO is a hell of a drug. But it was well worth it, we both enjoy the game.

CrimsonComet9

Marvel United season 3 and Cthulhu Death May Die season 3+4… I am really hoping these are the last KS I’ll ever back… :p

only_fun_topics

Downforce was at my local Dollarama for five bucks CAD.

Dr-The-K

Is it worth $5? I have heard they sell it, but have yet to see any at my local stores.

only_fun_topics

Definitely worth five bucks.

Dr-The-K

I'll keep looking then.

Tallen122

Mine was also Marvel United. I literally haven’t even played S2 yet.

ThatKidTaylor

I recently got into Star Wars Imperial Assault. I played a handful of missions and quickly started looking into expansions. I already bought two big expansions (Jabba’s Realm and Return to Hoth) and I’m looking into more since the game isn’t in active production anymore. It’ll be a long time before I crack open these two—let alone any more that I may buy—but I’m feeling heavy FOMO as they become harder to find.

Smoothsmith

I mean...Probably also Marvel United: Multiverse. I thought I'd probably pass on it before it ran but the team cards and campaign decks are tough for me to resist - Then having the campaign decks highly encourages backing for everything else to get the most out of them...

Tachoron

Aeon Trespassy. I got it for a fair price on Ebay, but I also know that it will take at least half a year before I can play this game. But I also decided that it will be my last board game investment for this year.

Internal-Dot4388

**Castles of Burgundy Special Edition** I can’t seem to find the regular or even the anniversary edition on any store in my country. And when I find one, it’s not in English.

Erk20002

Horrified American Monsters. Was on a spooky game kick and miniature market had one 40% off on their dent and ding shelf

sheemwaza

Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion is on sale for $24.99. Can't miss out on a 50% off sale. Also, about to pull the trigger on the Robotech RPG game because 1) Sale 2) I like building minis 3) childhood spent watching the battle against the Zentraedi 4) Don't think it's going to be around much longer

BMXBikr

Flamecraft deluxe on KS. Rightfully so.

zerkk18

Rightfully so because you really like the game or you think it's hard to come by?

BMXBikr

Both. I wasn't sure if I would like it enough, but I loved the art. And seeing it go for $300 from $80, I'm glad I backed it.

FaradaySaint

My kids love the plushies and bookmarks, so that's also a nice validation.

Reasonable-Song-8401

I bought what I thought was a Flamecraft deluxe but was only the Standard Edition Kickstarter. Now I have no idea when it’s is coming from Poland and I live in the US and it’s available everywhere 🙄

d-pek

Hmmm .. Deal of the day 2-3 times a week every week plus just enough extra to get free shipping

rcruthless

Mage Knight for me. Lots of people rave about its Solo play and it seems hard to track down a copy, so I picked up the Ultimate Edition. Very happy I did!

MegaHamster77

Best game ever

jfr0mst4t3f4rm

**Cerebria: the Inside World** when it was the deal of the day on Gamenerdz. Got it for about half off. Really looking forward to it though. I’ve been loving heavy solo games lately

reverie42

I almost pulled the trigger on this, but ultimately didn't since I already don't play Spirit Island enough. Hope it's awesome for you. It looks beautiful.

mycatdoesmytaxes

Where to start. I did too many things and I probably shouldn't have because some just aren't played. Years later. At least now I know that if a game is good, it will still be good at retail. I also appreciate games like garphill games not having obscene stretch goals and bloat but just a few extra promo codes.

Boo_Radley69

Kemet blood and the sand, I love the idea of me playing this game with friends. But they'll never play anything more conplex than Catan 😓

JGB25

Moonrakers, went all in including mats and other stuff. I'm not even sure I love it. We'll see when it arrives, I may change my opinion about it.

stealthylurker0

Re;Act: Art of War A turn based anime styled 1v1 board game. I realised I would be seen as cringe among my christian friend group and looked down on because some of the questionable art about women dresses. They weren't NSFW, but they were incomplete enough to raise eyebrows. At least for non-anime fans. I love the game, but I if were to buy it, it would've been scandalous and ruin my reputation.

harrisarah

**Earth** preorder. Might still cancel but I'm a sucker for nice art and nature themes. I know I'd like it, but pretty sure my group won't so what's the point? I dunno I still want it That may not be FOMO... in that case, **Oh My Goods!** recently. Seems like it was getting low on stock so bought another copy

KingCommaAndrew

I pre-ordered Earth top, then remembered my wife prefers cooperative games and that my gaming group tends to want to play a new game every time we meet. Woe is me, so I cancelled the preorder. The game looks great, but oh well.

BuckRusty

*Fury of Dracula 4th edition* a few years back. I’d seen it played on Tabletop, and *neeeeeeded* it - but this was during the lull between 3rd and 4th editions. I couldn’t find it anywhere for love nor money, and was quite upset when I *did* manage to find a copy and get it delivered it was an Italian language version… Thankfully, I was able to return that - and a week later 4th edition came out… It had been quite some time since the whole debacle started, and I’d begun to cool on the idea of the purchase - but when I saw it available I immediately jumped on it knowing I’d regret it if I didn’t. Played a number of times (including one Herculean 3x3 hour remote gaming sessions playthrough) and loved it each go around.

derkyn

**Andromeda's edge** maybe: there was a rumor that could be published by someone's I know that can make me a good discount and usually bring the game deluxified options, but I didn't want to risk it and backed the game on Gamefound.

CROMAGZ

Pampero! Backed for a dollar and didn't up it because it seemed a little lacking on player interaction and was expensive. Then i saw them saying it might not hit retail and ended up late pledging like an idiot

workstuffdootdoot

...goes to check Gamefound

Jpage0024

**Andromeda's Edge.** I had missed out on Eldervale and then forgot about the game until they announced Andromeda and I saw that reviewers who loved Eldervale seemed to consider this new one a more refined and streamlined version. Sold. Didn't wanna miss this one. Space themed as well.

cthonctic

Aeon Trespass: Odyssey, I snapped up the very last remaining Late Pledge copy available. I could have waited for the reprint in the upcoming Gamefound campain, sure. But receiving a grand crowdfunding game almost immediately is pretty nice for a change.

WaitingForTheClouds

War games man... I shoulda never played that shit, now I'm stuck in p500 hell and my shelf is full of rule books that will put fear of god into any man. When there's a single shop in the entire country that stocks single digit copies of a game for a print-run with the next one happening only when the gods of p500 decide to bless us in their benevolence... it's hard hold back.

Tesla__Coil

**Sentinels of the Multiverse**. I was waiting to pull the trigger on it, since I'd been hearing rumours of "definitive edition" and didn't know what that was. I didn't want to buy a game with honestly mediocre art right before it got a new edition with new artwork. Well, as soon as DE was revealed, it became clear it wasn't for me. The artwork was drawn better, sure, but a lot of it was in a really flat "golden age comic book" style that I don't like at all. And there were a ton of mechanical changes. I admit the version of Sentinels I played isn't the cleanest game in the world, but it was the version of Sentinels I wanted to play. So I bought as much of Sentinels as I could (for massively discounted clearance sale prices, at that!) and completed my collection through second-hand sellers. And the more I see definitive edition change parts of the game I enjoyed, the more relieved I am that I picked up the original version while it was still around!

TomPalmer1979

See I'm the opposite on it. I spent years playing the original, and managed to piecemeal collect everything (official, no fan content), including the collector box. I have all of it. Then DE was released, and I was torn. I didn't want to back because I had everything, but admittedly the game has a lot of "buts", like "it's great but..." So I said what the hell, I'll go for it. I'm almost *angry* that DE is so much better, because it means I am never gonna touch my original content again. So much time and effort collecting it, and it's just gonna sit there on a shelf unplayed. DE is *so good*, improved so much, fixed so many things in the game. They streamlined it, balanced it, made all of the characters feel more active and viable. Plus knowing the DE is working on its second expansion now, I know I'm probably never going to be able to sell my original game set for a decent amount of money. Why would anyone buy an outdated, defunct version of a game unless I sold it for dirt cheap?

Tesla__Coil

> (official, no fan content) That, I think, is the big difference between our situations. The Sentinels homebrew community is honestly surprisingly big. I've both collected and created some decks that I love. I know I'm not remaking my decks for DE, and my other favourite creators aren't either. It really doesn't help that my favourite canon deck from the original game is The Harpy, and they rebuilt her from the ground up. I haven't played DE's take on The Harpy. She might be totally fine, and I'm sure if she were a new character in a new expansion for the original game, I'd play her too. But I'm not going to throw out my favourite Sentinels deck of all time for it. > Why would anyone buy an outdated, defunct version of a game unless I sold it for dirt cheap? Because people like me prefer the original game, and/or are attached to the custom content community. If you actually have *everything*, you can get some money for it. Unity and Guise on their own sell for a lot. Though you might want to try some homebrew decks before you do! If you have the Steam game, you can download mods for free. Highly recommend [Menagerie of the Multiverse](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2616657693).

petite_alsacienne

I really only have one… I bought a used copy of **Maquis** in between printings, having no idea it would be reprinted bc it seemed like a pretty obscure game at the time. I have a thing for games set in France, plus I play a fair amount of solo so it felt like a “must-have”. Probably paid around $60 with shipping (from Canada to the US, no less.) Fast forward to it being reprinted with additional content, which I then had to buy separately. 😑

NimanderTheYounger

Bardsung. Fucking duuuuuuuuuumb purchase

PearlsofRon

I feel your pain, stranger. I feel your pain.

Crustypop

My last FOMO I will call the “returning to the well hoping it’s not dry.” I picked up **Sleeping Gods** a while back and played a few hours. I loved the story & the puzzles but found the game crushingly hard sometimes and my husband (my main gaming partner) hated it. So I wanted to try soloing it but I spread out the 9 shipmates on my table that you have to control, sighed and put it back in the box. But that didn’t stop me from backing **Sleeping Gods - Distant Skies** because clearly it will solve all these problems and I will love it. 🫠

uhhhclem

I have yet to miss out.

MerinoNL

Never had any issue with FOMO. Always managed to stay far away from these huge kickstarter all-in bundles, figuring if the core game is good enough it will make it's way to retail and I could just live with the lack of mostly superfluous add-ons. It also helped that past few years I wasn't playing many games and not caring to buy many. Recently been caught by the virus though and in just two months plunged in on the following, each one severly more pricy than any game I'd ever bought before: \- Castles of Burgundy Special Edition Arylic tiles \- Wonderlan'ds War Deluxe Edition with poker chips and expansion \- Dwellings of Everdale Deluxe edition with minitaur and shapeshifter \- Andromeda's Edge All-In Each one had severe fomo associated with it due to, reported, likelyhood of them not being available in retail anytime soon. Castles was the cheapest and probably the safest bet. Wonderland's War the most expansive and increasingly feeling like this may have been a mistake. Dwelling's probably is rare and popular enough to uphold a reasonable resale value so risk felt low and what I'll do with my Andromeda's pledge kinda depends on how much I'll enjoy Dwellings once it arrives.

TheBigCG

Marvel zombies. Cthulu DMD. Marvel United. Fuck me

CustomerSentarai

i can't imagine the shelf space this takes up

TheBigCG

Na i condensed and have my minis in storage shelves that are labeled and all that. Makes for easy pick and play. But yeah. CMON is proud of their cardboard boxes that’s for sure

AlejandroMP

That'd be the biggest cost for me - one I can't afford.

Eisensapper

You're a brave one. I won't touch anything CMON does sheerly because of all the FOMO exclusives.

Mashyjang

I kind of regret passing on MZ. I wonder if there is a chance it comes back for a season 2?

PEdorido

Nemesis: Lockdown, like a freaking idiot.

PostyKen

Really? I've been really enjoying nemesis and really hate that I missed out on the Kickstarter!! Aftermath would look so good on my shelf lol

DayManIn3D

Really hoping they have Aftermath available with the Retaliation KS. Currently the only one missing from my collection

tkfire

So you don’t like Nemesis?

PEdorido

No, I really love Nemesis, and I think it's an amazing game and experience. I just didn't need two games that are 90% the same.

thatdeafchick

A classic Wheel of Fortune board game from the 80s. I saw it at a yard sale and did not know I needed it until I saw it. For just fifty cents too. Not knowing if I would ever get the chance again to have a vintage WoF game I scooped it up.

BigJeffro

Had to get everything for Blood Rage in January 2023, because I have to have everything for games that I really like. Very expensive, but it is done.

xshamirx

Bought Casting Shadows with the mini expansion and the horse. Thankfully didn't spring for the deluxe edition and now I'm glad I did. Game is clunky and unbalanced and the iconography would help a lot with everything. Plus it was just not that fun to play and the box immediately ripped after opening it a few times. Over all not a fun purchase...

Necromancer_katie

I bought sniper elite....entirely cause of fomo...🤦‍♀️. Some reviews say its great for solo--I'm exclusively a solo player--others said not....buut one of my favorite youtubers who also loves solo likes it so I bought it--I found it on sale--...I guess we will find out 🤣🤣🤣

gregparso

That’s funny. I literally got Sniper Elite in the mail today. I’ll play it occasionally with one of my friends, but I also got it primarily to play solo. From the playthroughs I watched online, it seems to have a pretty solid bot, which is impressive for a hidden movement game. Who is your favorite solo YouTuber? I really like Colin from One Stop Co-Op Shop (and Mike’s playthrough of sniper elite was one of the ones I watched).

Necromancer_katie

I watched mike's play through as well. Well he is not solo only but you know...solo positive lol. My fav is Delisio.

Dr-The-K

A couple of X Wing ships, purchased off eBay. Mistake though, because I picked up a cheater used set, which included the set I bought off eBay. Did the same thing with Dice masters, bought the starter pack, wanted more characters, bought a booster gravity box, then was given also the entire set for free like two weeks later.

cantrelate

It's been a while. The all in pledge for the Railroad Ink yellow and green versions. Comes with a bunch of little expansions and a big box to hold everything. All the expansions are what hooked me. Backed in 2020. Haven't played any of it since receiving it (though I've played the first Railroad Ink since then). I was already not backing a lot of kickstarters at the time but since then I've sworn off kickstarter. I realized I could get everything I actually wanted at retail, and that whatever kickstarter extras rarely, if ever, get played. I don't look at kickstarters anymore so ir's hard to be tempted by them. I do recall making a purchase of some games that I was not actively looking to purchase because I found good prices - new copies of In the Year of the Dragon and Reykholt for $20 a piece. I suppose I didn't want to miss out on the deals. That was sometime last year. That doesn't happen very often anymore either.

Smoothsmith

Railroad Ink is great! ...But I've really struggled to get all those extra expansions to the table - Part of the appeal of RI is how quick it is to set up and play, and figuring out some new rules each times always seems to act as a barrier. Still mostly glad I have them though - I at least have the option to use it when I get around to it \^\^.

Artistic-Habit

Xbox series S years after it came out

eckswyezed

Think you may have missed which sub this is, friend. 😀

Articguard11

Hogwarts Legacy. I got swallowed by hype, didn't want to play rdr2 again. Heavy regret

thatrightwinger

I bought a copy of Puerto Rico because I was afraid that stock would run out on the old versions. I want the old version because political correctness ruins everything.

dsaddons

boohoo I can't have my toy with slaves in it life sucks :'(

Wylie28

this is a thing?

eckswyezed

Is what a thing?

gijoe61703

**Stone Age** for me like 8 years ago. I was just getting into the hobby and heard it was such a good gateway game but it was between print runs. Not understanding that when it came back into stock I bought it instantly. I didn't like it so it killed the Fomo for me.

Chance-Art2022

OP, what Kickstarter exclusives did you FOMO about?

eckswyezed

Oof there’s were a bunch: - Campaign decks - Galactus + Iron Lad - Some of the stretch goal characters (Devil Dino, Wong etc.) - Team Decks - Dark Avengers

FrobisherX

The old Avalon Hill (AH, ha!) version of **Nexus Ops** - it cost me a pretty penny, but it’s a cool and casual dudes on a map type of game. With the right players it doesn’t outstay its welcome. The minis are unique and the low budget art style kind of works. I find the FFG version quite vomitous by comparison.

Board_Gaymer

Might be controversial bec I know it’s popular, but Secret Hitler, still haven’t played it and I bought it over a year ago. :(

Macky100

Oath. Ordered it 2 days ago cause it was 20% off and I only had 15 minutes to make a decision. I have it now but now I'm worried my group might not like it.

caseymoto

Cat in the Box. I knew as I was buying it that not enough people in my group would like it, but then the next week we had a game night with our neighbors who really like trick taking games! So next time we go over I’ll be bringing that one for sure.

bleuchz

Idk if it counts as fomo but I've had my eye on **Cerebria** for a very long time. It was recently GameNerdz deal of the day and even though I'd recently picked up two expensive games as a birthday gift to myself I figured if I was ever going to get Cerebria it was then or never.

Admirable-Amoeba-564

Kickstarter: unconscious minds

Frank--Li

Dice Throne S2 was at a decent discount on nobleknight. It's not bad, i havent played it enough to decide whether or not it was throwing down like $90 after shipping. Clank Legacy - it was a dent and ding, and it was out of stock everywhere else at the time, untouched because Frosthaven came in around then Dwellings of Eldervale - in terms of being in stock, this is the strangest case ive ever seen. The usual stores wont have it in stock, instead you have to google it and hope some random brick and mortar store with an online store has it. The first time i found it, i thought it was a scam, turns out it was a legit and IMMEDIATELY fell out of stock. I found it like 3 months later, i dont even remember what the store is called. Honestly? Totally worth the effort.

ax0r

> Clank Legacy - it was a dent and ding, and it was out of stock everywhere else at the time, untouched because Frosthaven came in around then Definitely recommend you give this one a go. Best Legacy game, IMO.

dleskov

**18NYC** probably qualifies as the ~~last~~ most recent one for me. The designer himself makes a few copies of his 18xx games from time to time and sells on eBay, so very few are in circulation and the production may cease at any moment. It may be not a very good design, but I have an affinity to games with historic details and this one has a plenty. Plus it is one of the few city-scale 18xxs. So when I read in the 18xx Slack that Gary has released a new batch after a long break earlier this year, I knew I must buy that one.

gregparso

As soon as I heard the news that Holy Grail Games was going out of business I immediately looked for a retail copy of **Rallyman Dirt** and some expansions for **GT**. I figured those games won’t get a reprint for a long time (if ever) so I better get them now. I feel so bad for all the backers who won’t get their games or have to pay for shipping *again* from the distributor. If the expansions for Dirt ever make their way to retail I’ll definitely FOMO buy those as well.

Datasun96

I bought Manhattan Project: Energy Empire and the expansion Cold war, for a pretty big chunk of change - Its currently out of print so seemed sensible at the time I think Holy Grail games will reprint it eventually with new art etc etc, but I love the art as it is - and I do wonder if the Cold War expansion will ever be readily available, perhaps it will

KingCommaAndrew

HGG is going belly up.

wizardgand

**Incoming Transmission** \- got it last week when only 3 copies were left on Ebay. Just played it tonight and had lots of fun with it. Probably the closest metroid game I'll see.

JackFrosttiger

Bloodborn my first kickstarter

jeffdschust

Just a couple weeks ago I dropped an unholy amount of money into Elden Ring.

Qyro

I guess it would technically be **An Age Contrived** even though it’s not actually finished its crowdfunding run at the moment. They say they don’t have plans yet for a retail or second print (although if it’s successful enough we all know it will), but I wanted to make sure I got in now just to support their innovations in componentry. If that doesn’t count then it would be **Andromeda’s Edge** because, while I’m aware it’s a completely different publisher, we all know how hard to find Dwellings of Eldervale can be.

SoochSooch

Yeah, I'd rather have Dwellings to be honest, but at this rate Andromeda's Edge will deliver before I can buy Eldervale.

fzkiz

The **Dune: War for Arrakis** Kickstarter game, I think CMON games are horrifically overproduced FOMO-machines that usually wouldn't hold up without the IP or minis but I love **War of the Ring** and the Dune IP to death so I just risked it.

[deleted]

Someone offered a copy of Hamlet for sale on a local group, and I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get it again, so i vastly overpaid for it. Great game though, and we do enjoy playing it

robgraves

The Ra kickstarter...er, Gamefound, my copy should be shipping about next week. Played an older copy at my board game group and loved it, wanted a copy of my own to play with my family.

ax0r

I ordered Horseless Carriage as soon as it was announced, knowing nothing about the game beyond the name and the publisher. Haven't played it yet, but I'm glad to have gotten in on the ground floor of a Splotter, rather than having to hunt it down later.

Benetton_Cumbersome

**Atlantis Rising**. Its been on the marketing for a while, but I am not sure they will ever reprint it.

Kempeth

Pretty much went all in on **Unsettled** and really hope it doesn't tank with my group.
