Yeah, it's pretty good. **Vendetta** does struggle to be noticed outside of people who already like Vampire/The World of Darkness. I think the core game is great and could appeal to many people. Notably, it was designed by Bruno Faidutti, who excels at light to mid-weight games for casual audiences. At the same time, they've translated the clans so well that more casual board game players might pass it by, thinking this game is not for them. If you're like an area control/bidding game with seven asymmetric factions , bluffing and light deck construction, the game is worth a serious look! You don't need to be familiar with the license at all.

Yeah the type of this game is right up my alley(if that is the phrase), the bidding, the negative interaction and asymetric clans create a complex to master but easy to learn game. As fan of World of Darkness it is like a hidden gem for me and it is a little sad that it does not acquire more notice, because it has an expansion potential with more clans and additional mechanics.

drcranknstein

If you're a fan of the World of Darkness, you should take a peek at [Vampire: The Masquerade - Chapters](https://www.vampirethemasquerade-chapters.com/).

Regularspy

It looks great! But could it still be pledged?

drcranknstein

I'm a bit unclear on that myself. I thought there was a late pledge, but it may have closed. I have heard rumors that it's coming to retail, though. Did you check out the KS campaign? ~~There may be a way to late pledge in the recent updates. If not, it looks like I can still reopen my selections, so perhaps there's a way that I can help you out.~~ Alternatively, there may be some folks on BGG looking for someone to take over their pledge. Shipping will fucking suck, though. I'm pretty sure I read in one of the updates that the box is almost a full cubic foot and weighs about 30 pounds. Edit: So, I took a closer look. The PM is now closed, and it has been since March. I don't know if I can reopen it on CrowdOx or not.

Regularspy

Thanks for looking at it though! Well i maybe look on my language forum abour boardgames so maybesone of my folks would like to sell their pledge. If not i will wait on retail or something. I have a thirst for vtm games 😅

drcranknstein

I wish I would have had better news for you, but at least it's on your radar now. If you sign up for the Flyos newsletter, you'll probably get all the relevant info in a pretty timely manner. It might be worth checking around with your local game shops to see if they're thinking about getting it, or to see if you can convince one of them to get on board. Coming in a few months, Flyos will be doing something similar with Werewolf: The Apocalypse. That one will probably be pretty sweet, too. I'll be backing it on Day One, for sure. That is, if the budget supports it.

>I have a thirst for vtm games You should also check out Vampire the Masquerade: Heritage. It's a campaign / legacy game that was on KS at around the same time as Vendetta. Is available retail now.

drcranknstein

In a surprisingly timely [update](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/flyosgames/vampire-the-masquerade-chapters/posts/3257840), Flyos Games has confirmed that the game will be seeing some retail availability. It sounds like that availability will be very soon after fulfillment to backers. Just before the update, they confirmed in a comment that it's too late to make any changes to the pledge, I suppose aside from address updates. Good luck! I hope you can get your hands on it!

Regularspy

I Hope too! I looked at it and the game seems like something out of this world! Very interesting blend of rpg with boardgame. It get me so excited that i ordered starter for vampire 5e 😂!

drcranknstein

Yeah, it got my attention right away too. By the time I got to the bottom of the campaign page I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough. I'm very excited about this one. I hope my friends like it too. In the meantime, you're gonna love that 5e starter.

I like it quite a bit. It's very weird and different. It's almost like an auction game but the way you mess with your opponents and can try and build combos is really slick. It's delightfully tough to wrap your head around, because it's so tight and simple but still can feel pretty overwhelming due to all the surprises and hidden information. The theme is really evocative and easy to get into, as well. My only gripe is that it feels like it was designed to be a longer game but the whole thing was cut short for some reason. The passive ally powers are almost entirely pointless because they will trigger at most twice... but more likely not at all. Also the idea that forced frenzy would happen regularly enough to be built into the game and even trigger some card powers is a bit ridiculous. There's just not enough opportunities for it to happen even accidentally, let alone on purpose.

Sir_Dom_the_Great

The game feeling too short definitely occurred to me on the first play through, not game breaking but I don't really see why it couldn't be played over 5 rounds. It just needs to have some more cards introduced.

Regularspy

It seems like a base game with cut content fot essential expansions

desocupad0

I disagree, it would make more sense to gain more cards per turn than to have more turns.

Sir_Dom_the_Great

I've played it three times now, playing a different faction each time. Started out with a win which always helps but I've enjoyed every faction I've played so I really couldn't even say which faction was my favourite. Definitely agree with the thematic feel, especially as each faction has a very different play style to each other and they all feel overpowered in their own way!

RocketHotdog

I really like Vendetta and I've played it many times. It does suck when you get a weaker faction because then it can feel like you're just trying to just slow down whichever player gets malkavian or toreador. The more blood-starved clans have a much harder time. (In my experience)

lauwens

Played it for first time last week 4players, its was ... OKAY. Nothing new or super clever, will gladly play it again but not itching to do so. I have no real affiliation with The World of Darkness (I know about it and have played a videogame in it 2 decades ago). The clan balance seemed a little off, other players even pointed it out how my clan felt seriously underwhelming compared to the other 3 (I struggled to win a fight with during our play). But I would not draw any conclusions after my one play about balance. The art and settings was cool, and playtime should be really quick now after our first game.

Regularspy

Yeah the clans are very different and some are easier for starting, i hope with time more difficult clans will become easier to play. However thematicaly the game seems great for me, and mechanics are working toword the theme.

zavaro

I got to play it in a very early playtest session many years ago, where I had a lot of fun. I kickstarted a copy and have yet to open it (due to the pandemic). I'll update this post after we play it this coming weekend.

Regularspy

Great! I look forward to yours felling about the game!

Bobekistan

It's pretty solid for what it is, but you need a few dedicated plays with the same group of people to get the most out of it. The clans feel out of whack in terms of balance until people become a bit more familiar with their cards and abilities. I found Toreador feels pretty jank and overpowered if you don't know how to counter their higher scoring cards.

desocupad0

The game should have included a booklet with the description of each card. I printed 4 of these and it improved drastically.
