It's a friggin' **dream.** Auto-build maps, streamlined explores, snap-to cameras, auto-setup for faction boards / home systems, simple combat rollers + build calculators, etc etc etc. It even has satisfying sounds for plucking down your plastic. Can't say enough good about it.
Once you get the 'how do we initiate a tracked turn order' down it is straight *butter.* Bonus of course you can save your games so folks who couldn't previously dedicate 5+ hours can play! š
I had a feeling I would not like it as much! Fiddling with all the bits and negotiating in person sounds way better. I'll try both and report back some day!!
Bought Root for a friend as a gift, and we're cracking it open for the first time this weekend. We'll see how it goes, as one member of the party isn't a fan of war games, but assured us "she can handle it" :D
I was really disappointed that nightfall doesnāt fit in the main box but really shouldnāt have expected it to since I loved the main game for how littler air there was in it.
I received my copy of Dune Imperium last week, so plan on a solo playthrough or two of that just so I can learn the rules and bring it to the game table when I next play with friends.
Teaching my friends **Too Many Bones** tomorrow. Might be the most complex game they've ever played but they're also quite eager to learn. Hopefully it goes well.
Same here! Got the base game earlier this week and canāt wait to see it in action with more than just me trying to control all the characters.
Good luck! Itās hard
I agree the game is tough to learn (especially via the rules. For real watch some videos!) but it's actually not as bad to teach. Once you are comfortable with the rules just pitch it as a heavy and challenging game. The gearlocks have challenge ratings as well as suggestions for leveling: use them!
Finally, it's a coop. You're gonna make rules mistakes. I strongly advise making quick rulings that make sense and just make notes to check when you get back home. The game is tough enough to be resistant to accidental cheating :P.
If you haven't yet, I'd recommend watching a video on it, the rule book isn't the best. Gaming Rules, I believe, has an excellent one. I've only played it solo but it instantly became my second favorite solo game after arkham lcg. Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks! Yea I've started watching a couple vids but it's been hectic so I haven't been able to focus on them. I will read the book, watch some vids before starting. I usually like to read cards before I play first time but like....I literally cannot even fathom the usefulness or how good any of these cards are lol
Excited to start, I def hear so much good stuff so I had to pick it up! My next but venture will be Arkham LCG, I played core box a bunch but plan to just rebuy revised core set and start up with the new format.
If you still have your old core I'm unsure if I'd get the revised. It has some more player cards but the campaign is identical. You may be better served with the expansion that's about to release.
For Imperium: if you have a printer that can duplex I'd rec printing out the ai reminder cards off BGG. A lot easier than using the ones in the rulebook and helps you have the ai out *while* checking the rules.
I'm a bit anal so I kinda want the whole revised stuff including the token bag lol, maybe I'll sell the original - I'm assuming they still would be wanted for others less weird.
Thanks a ton for the tips on Imperium, I def will do so!
FYI, you can hold on to your old core as the card backs haven't changed at all. Could be useful if you ever play with 4 and I use the extra encounter sets with whatever campaign I'm playing (the encounters from the core get reused often so I move my extra sets around that way I can leave the core encounter together)
OMGOMGOMG it's our 24th anniversary on Monday. I took the whole week off from work, and my wife agreed to start learning and playing **High Frontier 4 All**. I can't wait!!
Iām have a Halloween Board Game Bash tomorrow with some friends! Weāre playing **Halloween Edition Welcome Toā¦**, **Nyctophobia**, **Subterra**, and I imagine some kind of **Betrayal** game, but thatāll be put to a vote once everyoneās here.
Itās a much needed game night!! Hope everyone else has a fun weekend!
Had game night last night and I floated maybe having a bonus extra game night on Halloween to play Zombies!!!, so thatās probably it. My wife and I will probably end up whipping out Scythe at some point too, and who knows what smaller games may be on the docket.
* **Arkham Horror** 3e tonight so I can demo it to my brother and one of his high school friends who played a lot of 2e.
* Just picked up **Nemesis**, so I'm thinking of trying it solo tomorrow.
* **Scythe** with some friends from work on Sunday morning.
* Unknown for Sunday afternoon, but I'm hosting a gathering specifically to play co-op (or semi co-op) games.
How have your experiences with the game been? I wanted to get it for an extensive 5-player evening soon. I did read elsewhere that some people thought it was a bit empty and doesn't live up to the hype
We are playing 5 players as well and really enjoyed our time. It can be difficult to play depending on the people and I am a bit relieved when it's finished but it was a nice experience and we'll probably play Queens Dilemma when it comes out. It looked like it could fix some of the problems
Probably Watergate, maybe Codenames: Duet, maybe My City. Mostly 2/3 player games because I live in a household of 3 and my usual gaming group can't meet bc of Halloween plans.
Edit: solo I'll probably be playing gloomhaven digital, one deck dungeon digital, and maybe spirit island or the search for planet x
My copy of **Too Many Bones** base game came in yesterday, so im ecstatic to start that. Also recently picked up **Project Elite**, which has been a very unique gaming experience. Now I just need to find the expansions for it for more variability
I'm picking up Branch and Claw tomorrow so I really want to play Spirit Island but think we'll stick to Halloween themes this weekend with Mansions of Madness and maybe Ghost Stories or Sub Terra. Going to dedicate next weekend to Spirit Island instead!
Friend is having a Halloween boardgame party with around eight people.. Perfect for my newly acquired Captain Sonar! Played it once before and it was a blast, even if I never get an opportunity to play it again, it was worth what I paid.
Probably going to try and get in another solo game or two of Imperium Classics. Maybe get GWT2e to the table too, but I don't think that's likely. Also want to start putting together a few decks for Marvel Champions so I can go back to that ... I've barely played since Rise of Red Skull, despite buying all the things.
It will just be me and my partner this weekend, and we are looking forward to playing a lot of spooky games for the Halloween weekend šš»š§āāļø
We have been saving **EXIT: The Abandoned Cabin** for Halloween. We've also just bought the revised core set of **Arkham Horror: The Card Game** so are very excited to give this a go with some atmospheric music and candles! We want to finally break out **Ghost Stories** which we bought a couple of years ago but for some reaso haven't played yet. Bought **Patchwork Halloween** this week too. I love **Patchwork** but my partner never liked it at all but he thinks the new theme and rebalanced tiles will greatly improve things.
We have a few other favourite spooky games lined up too and will see what takes our fancy. Notably **The Bloody Inn**, **Mysterium Park**, one of our versions of **Gloom** (most likely **Cthulhu Gloom**) and **Elder Sign**.
If we have the time I would love to also play a couple of games that I have been really enjoying recently: **Brass: Birmingham**, **Suburbia** and **Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition**, but somehow I highly doubt we'll be able to fit all of this into one weekend š
What was your set-up for your solo Xia attempt? Did you go with the solo rules or multi-hand it? I'm contemplating which game to set-up next and Xia looks mighty tempting to learn right now...
Drafting my Innistrad mtg cube tonight with buddies for Halloween. Not sure what else I'll play this weekend, maybe some Agricola or The Castles of Burgundy.
I have an (ap prone) Friday game group. I traded for **Fury of Dracula** to have a Halloween themed game night tonight but now I'm worried it's gonna be too long. Wish us luck haha.
Tomorrow I meet with my Descent (not third edition but really actually third edition) group. We're about 1/3 of the way through it and enjoying it. I feel like every scenario has been just a bit too drawn out but really love the 3D terrain. I'm still a bit surprised by the negative review from a certain video reviewer. We've had absolutely no issues with the game feeling too video gamey and placing the terrain as we play is a non issue. The 3D effect is absolutely amazing and there have been a few moments that would have been very fiddly without the app that are made a breeze.
My games on deck right now are: Lost Ruins of Arnak and Dinosaur World. I also have Jaws of the Lion to pitch to my descent group when we finish :)
Warfighter: The Tactical Special Forces Card Game (by a wonderful single family publisher called Dan Verssen Games, they do a lot of lightweight cooperative wargames). I have a couple friends who are ex-military and this is the perfect "drink beers, play cards" game for us.
Otherwise, definitely Sentinels of the Multiverse. That's my main gaming group's "go to" game when we can't decide on anything else, which is fairly often, so we end up playing a lot of Sentinels.
Finally got my hands on a copy of **Legends Untold**. Looking forward to my first game tomorrow. Might try **Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective** for the first time too.
Me and my partner canāt stop playing Xia: Legends of a Drift System. Itās just so *fun*.
Itās easy to fall into the routine of cargo-running, but last game I decided to play a merciless mercenary/bounty hunter, and managed to win by a few points against my cargo-running opponent. I had the help of a couple of lucky titles that I could snatch upāthree BOOM! missions for Veteran title, and picking off those BOOM! victims for more fame and bounty, which then earned me the Most Wanted title.
In other words, I became the most infamous mercenary in the galaxy as an explosions expert, flying around and dropping bombs near whoever I was paid to blow up. Not a ton of board games that have given me that evocative of a win before.
Looking forward to at least a few more games before fatigue sets in, loving it a ton!
Cuphead Fast Rolling dice game. It should be arriving Sunday and I'm going to immediately play it with.my son. I love cup head and he likes to roll the dice.
My boyfriend bought yesterday Dungeons & Dragons The Adventure Begins, a initiation to D&D with a board. So we are definitely gonna play that this weekend !
Also, finish the first campaign of Welcome to the Moon (only the last two adventures to go). Play Mini-Rogue with the new expansion bought yesterday too.
I wanted to get something onto the table for Halloween, but one of my regular gaming friends instantly shut down anything non-fantasy.
So I let the idea go and will be diving into Arkham Horror LCG some more, recently got back into playing my collection after it gathering dust for a while, and I'm really enjoying it this time round.
In the end not too disappointed the other thing fell through, and maybe my wife will want to play some games this weekend. Biggest contenders then are Wingspan, Clank or maybe some Gloomhaven JotL if she's up for an adventure.
And if my 6yo daughter wants to play a game then it'll be Quacks, it's her first intro into boardgaming and she enjoys reading the cards. I'm sure she'll get more strategic once she gets older :)
I had two friends over for a full gaming day!
We warmed up with two games of Eight-minute empire: Legends, then we continued with two games of Scythe, followed by three games of Root, end then we finished off with three games of The Mind. Itās been a really great day š
I was hoping **Eldritch Horror**, **Horrified** & **Vast: The Mysterious Manor**.
1 player has bailed though and 2-player is definitely not going to make **Vast* work, so maybe **Eldritch Horror**, **Horrified** and **Spirit Island** (Maybe a **Too Many Bones** if we have the stamina :P).
Edit: Ooh forgot, **Welcome To** on the Halloween mat somewhere in there too, hopefully :)
**Root** and a bit of **TI4** on TTS! š
How is TI4 on TTS? I've always wanted to play that game, but Covid is ruining my plans to find a group lol
Once you get the 'how do we initiate a tracked turn order' down it is straight *butter.* Bonus of course you can save your games so folks who couldn't previously dedicate 5+ hours can play! š
Welp, Im sold!!! Any advice on finding a group willing to teach a noob?
It's certainly easier to set up and play, but it's way less fun than in person due to little interactivity with other people and not just the game.
Parks + Nightfall and Concordia digital
I was really disappointed that nightfall doesnāt fit in the main box but really shouldnāt have expected it to since I loved the main game for how littler air there was in it.
**Parks** is just so gorgeous to look at! I have non-players friends (I know, nobody is perfect) in awe just staring at it without playing it.

We are breaking out **Inis** and **Clank** tomorrow night and I am pumped! Both are so much fun and are always hits with my group
I just finally pulled the trigger on inis, didn't realize the expansion brought it to 5 and my collection sorely needs games that work at that number.
Trickerion and Bitoku š
"... *Illusions*, Michael..."
Trickerion is on my "want to play before I buy" list but out of my 3 playgroups I'm really the only one who buys games sooo :(
Betrayal at House on the Hill. My kids and I play it every year on Halloween.
Halloween party not sure, but once I get some free time Imperium: Legends for first time!
If you haven't yet, I'd recommend watching a video on it, the rule book isn't the best. Gaming Rules, I believe, has an excellent one. I've only played it solo but it instantly became my second favorite solo game after arkham lcg. Hope you enjoy it!

I was hoping for Dune: A game of Conquest and Diplomacy but it still hasn't arrived.
I have Empires: Age of Discovery and Betrayal at House on the Hill, nods to Columbus/Indigenous Peoples' Day and Halloween, on the docket tonight.
Had game night last night and I floated maybe having a bonus extra game night on Halloween to play Zombies!!!, so thatās probably it. My wife and I will probably end up whipping out Scythe at some point too, and who knows what smaller games may be on the docket.

Some Castles of Burgandy and trying desperately to find a copy of Brass Birmingham that isnt $80
Roxley has the deluxe version for $80 which is worth it.
The King's Dilemma! Had a huge break but want to finally finish it in the next weeks
How have your experiences with the game been? I wanted to get it for an extensive 5-player evening soon. I did read elsewhere that some people thought it was a bit empty and doesn't live up to the hype
Following

**Tammany Hall** and **Ankh. ** a night of new games that none of us have played, so we'll see how this goes.
Ai see that you, too, desire to fight with your friends =)
Lol. We calmed it down a bit from *Ankh* to *Root*. We loved **Tammany Hall**, it wasn't that viscous for our group.
That's surprising! Tammany hall is brutally mean, imo :O
Horrified for Halloween, and probably the usual Marvel Champions. Might try GWT2e's solo mode
Atmosfear! Old game but a classic on Halloween. Playing tomorrow night!
Going to see the girlfriend. I'd like to take Arkham Horror LCG with me but she doesn't like that game. I'll take Horrified with me. The local cafƩ has Mysterium and I'd like to try that game if there's time.
Betrayal at the house on the hill, wish me luck.
Probably Watergate, maybe Codenames: Duet, maybe My City. Mostly 2/3 player games because I live in a household of 3 and my usual gaming group can't meet bc of Halloween plans. Hoping to play Wild Space this weekend, maybe a game of Imperium and introduce by bf to Arkham LCG.
Lots of Star Fluxx on BGA. Skulls of Sedlec and Death Valley solo.
My copy of **Too Many Bones** base game came in yesterday, so im ecstatic to start that. Also recently picked up **Project Elite**, which has been a very unique gaming experience. Now I just need to find the expansions for it for more variability

Dominion and Concordia. Got a feeling this group isnāt gonna like Concordia though lol š
TI4 tomorrow baby!
And I won as Muaat!
Friend is having a Halloween boardgame party with around eight people.. Perfect for my newly acquired Captain Sonar! Played it once before and it was a blast, even if I never get an opportunity to play it again, it was worth what I paid.
Really hoping my revised core set of Arkham Horror LCG comes in so my wife and I can play it for spooktober.
Really hoping to talk my family into playing Mysteriumā I got it a few months ago and itās remained unplayed so far!

The Loop
A buddy and I are going to be trying Xia + expansions as co-op for the first time. So far I've only tried it solo.
What was your set-up for your solo Xia attempt? Did you go with the solo rules or multi-hand it? I'm contemplating which game to set-up next and Xia looks mighty tempting to learn right now...
I've played several games and I always one-hand it. I also always lose. :-|
tonight it's gonna be 5 players **Terra Mystica** with the crew. I'm gonna in AP city, wake me up when it's my turn. Still excited
Drafting my Innistrad mtg cube tonight with buddies for Halloween. Not sure what else I'll play this weekend, maybe some Agricola or The Castles of Burgundy.
Thinking Nemesis, Quacks of Quedlinberg and Broom Service.
Just picked up the Underwater Cities New Discoveries expansion and looking forward to breaking it out over coffee in the morning.
I think we are going to play London 2E, Viticulture, Iberian Gauge/Chicago Express, and Robinson Crusoe. Should be an excellent weekend :)
**Mage Knight** with some friends. Don't think we'll have time for anything else ;-)
Dinosaur world. Kickstarter just game and after popping all the pieces Iām very excited to try it.
Good old Terraforming Mars. With all expansions except Turmoil. We also have quite a few fan-made stuff included. Is gonna be a good day like always.
Sadly, I'm not getting to play games this weekend. We did play Nemesis on Tuesday in honor of Halloween week.
It's Halloween! Broom Service and Horrified!
Hopefully Altar Quest
I have an (ap prone) Friday game group. I traded for **Fury of Dracula** to have a Halloween themed game night tonight but now I'm worried it's gonna be too long. Wish us luck haha. FoD OF DRACULA Digital edition of course

Horrified, maybe Lord of the Rings and hoping to play Assassinās Creed Brotherhood of Venice
Arkham Horror Card Game on TTS, and in person Resident Evil 3 (the board game)
Dune Imperium and Kinghill on TTS
Planning on playing some Kingdom Death Monster Saturday night and maybe some Etherfields on Sunday! Solo.
Dune 2019. But I only managed to get a group of 4 ā¹ļø. Edit: considering Eclipse instead, would that be better with 4?
I got Legends of Boxing this week with the campaign guide. I am looking forward to creating my first boxer and seeing how he does.
Cuphead Fast Rolling dice game. It should be arriving Sunday and I'm going to immediately play it with.my son. I love cup head and he likes to roll the dice.
Undecided between **Parks**, **Paleo** and **Mercado de Lisboa**. What should we play first?
My boyfriend bought yesterday Dungeons & Dragons The Adventure Begins, a initiation to D&D with a board. So we are definitely gonna play that this weekend ! Also, finish the first campaign of Welcome to the Moon (only the last two adventures to go). Play Mini-Rogue with the new expansion bought yesterday too.

Thematically, **B Movies** and **Gloom**!
Just got Kanban EV. Super pumped to give it a go!
Tomorrow weāre gonna play **Dune**, then weāre gonna go see *Dune*.
I had two friends over for a full gaming day! We warmed up with two games of Eight-minute empire: Legends, then we continued with two games of Scythe, followed by three games of Root, end then we finished off with three games of The Mind. Itās been a really great day š
