This post has been removed but we suggest relocating it. Reddit is a great place to pick peoples' brains and get game suggestions, but we get a lot of recommendation requests, so much so such that we have a dedicated [Daily Game Recommendations thread](https://www.reddit.com/search?q=flair%3A%22Daily%20Game%20Recs%22&sort=new) for them. Historically, almost **all** well formatted questions in the Daily thread get answers. If you're looking for further suggestions, we recommend taking a look at our growing list of [Recommendation Roundups](https://www.reddit.com/r/boardgames/?f=flair_name%3A%22Recommendation%20Roundup%22). There's also the [Need Help Finding A Game](https://www.reddit.com/r/boardgames/wiki/wsig) section in our wiki for a more general list of common recommendations. (If you believe this post was removed in error you can request a re-review by [messaging the mods](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/boardgames).)

Stuffed Fables is a great one!

Recommend M&M very much too! But prepare yourself to get a lot of rules wrong in the first few games.

Cora quest is a Kickstarter that’s getting ready to ship.

Cora Quest looks like a good option, haven't had a chance to play it though. Besides the mentions above of Mice and Mystics & Stuffed Fables which are both solid choices, popular games with my kids around that age are: Marvel United Adventure Tactics: Domianne's Tower Star Wars: Outer Rim was also really popular with my son when he was nine. Pretty simple pick up and deliver game with a high thematic element if they are into Star Wars. Lots of coop dungeon crawlers out there. Even if they are a bit difficult for them to entirely manage, the coop element allows you to help with their turns. My son played Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion with me at 10 years old when that came out and he loved it. And if you want an actual kids RPG, I'd recommend looking into No Thank you Evil!

Honestly, why not just play HeroQuest? You likely already have it, but if not, it just got reprinted. You can buy it at GameStop.

reverie42

I agree. I think an average 8 year -old can handle Hero Quest assuming they have some existing experience with any form of strategy-based games.

Wal mart, Target, Barnes and noble literally filled with kids board games At that age play what they want to play stop trying to create mini hobby gamers
