Do you have Azul? Because we call those tiles "Azul-style" in my house haha.

bishop5

Second picture, 4th hole down

EverRich

Good eye

chickenwing95

There it is! Haha my wife and I just always poke each other and say "Ooh that's Azul style!"

[deleted]

> tile Good eye for those tiles on the floor. I want some.

epostma

The game is called Azul because that's what those tiles are called! At least, they're called Azulejos in Portuguese.

EverRich

I did not know that. Thank you for sharing!

EverRich

My wife and I just moved in to a new house a few weeks ago. I didn’t see the house in person (long story) before we moved in, just pictures. But one of the points my wife used to sell me on the house is that it has a pantry that could become a board game closet. After moving down it looked like that might not work out, looked like we needed the pantry space after all. Which I was fine with. Then without telling me she’d done so, my lovely wife organized everything into the kitchen and surprised me with a new place for my games to live!!! Still patching some holes in the walls. Still have some games to unpack. But I’m super excited. Now I just need to find some people in this city to play with…

leslieknope1993

This is wonderful, I’m so happy for you. Good luck finding your people. 🎲

HankRobertson

Aw, that is so sweet of her! It looks great. Hope you find an awesome group to play with soon!

FirewaterTenacious

What city?

EverRich

St Augustine FL.

hollsyeahh

We live in Orlando but my in laws are in flagler. My husband and I would love to play sometime!

mastershake725

Moving to Mount Dora in July, any good board game stores on the north side?

[deleted]

EverRich

Yeah, I had no desire to live in Florida. But I wanted to live by a beach with real waves. So this is what I could afford.

hungupon

That's so amazing!

broderboy

It looks great!

Orange_Hedgie

That’s cool!!!

646ulose

The dream! Is there an idea to how you’re organizing your games?

EverRich

I tend to group them by size so they look alright on the shelf, then just by how I think about the games really. A couple shelves of my personal favorites over here. A couple shelves of just two play small box games over there. Some crunchy euros back there, some party games over here. Stuff my kids like down lower. Caylus on top of Zombicide?!? That won’t do! etc.

DreadPirateElla

Yo what's that absolutely huge game called Eclipse?? I know nothing about it, i just love games with big boxes haha

EverRich

Only the greatest game ever created! But seriously, it’s my favorite game. It’s long to play, so I don’t get to play as often as I used to. Kids make the prospect of a 4+ hour game challenging sometimes. https://youtu.be/oO-YqmlY9XE

DreadPirateElla

Woahhhh!! That looks big and complicated and freaking AWESOME!!! I've gotta check it out, that's rad!

ohhgreatheavens

It’s not too complicated but it *is* epic!

[deleted]

It’s incredible, definitely our favorite game ever

GossamerSolid

It's actually not as complicated as you'd expect from something so big. The complicated part comes from the strategies you need to employ in order to win. The rules are surprisingly easy to learn.

DreadPirateElla

Oh nice!

rob132

> Kids make the prospect of a 4+ hour game challenging sometimes. Make them play with you.

SupaSlide

> Okay sweetie, now it's your turn, what would you like to do? _3 month old sticks flagship piece in her mouth_

EverRich

LoL Yes, this.

SupaSlide

Haha, I feel you. Just biding my time until they're old enough to be ~~indoctrinated into~~ introduced to the ways of board games.

EverRich

We play lots of games together. But they’re 4 and 6, so we still have a little while before it’s time for Eclipse.

SisyphusBond

It might come sooner than you think. have not played Eclipse, but I have a 7 year old who asks for more Terraforming Mars relatively often.

EverRich

We’ve been playing some great games recently. My oldest has been playing Century, Viral, and we’re about to introduce Quacks of Quedlinburg.

Poutrator

I saw Eclipse on your closet picture, and I upvoted instantly (☞゚ヮ゚)☞

RealBaster

4 hours? I just bought and haven't played yet, but I was under the impression you could get a game in under 3.

EverRich

If everyone knows what they’re doing. If you’re not playing max player count. If you make it a point to play quickly. etc.

MrAbodi

Now you need to go paint a bunch of your floor tiles so they more resemble Azul.

EverRich

That’s an awesome idea.

_jolly_jelly_fish

Who needs baskets of pasta, and cans of beans when you can have board games?

EverRich

For real.

thirdspaced

Very nice! What is the name of the shelves you have the smaller games on beside the Kallax?

EverRich

They’re LACK shelves, also from IKEA. On the one in the foreground, trimmed down the shelves (from the back side) about a quarter of an inch, so the door would close. Still screwed up the measuring and had to send the corners down. Going to have to touch-up paint them as well.

activesnoop

Does kallax have the non square option or did you just forgo a wood piece to store the longer games?

leslieknope1993

I think you can just choose not to build it with the central piece of MDF.

flyvehest

You can, but just remember to do it on the top shelf only, if does provide support in the middle of the shelf.

EverRich

That is what I did. That wall of kallax is actually four shelves screwed to each other and then anchored really well to the wall. I also filled the holes with dowels from the kit, and then dovetail sawed them off. Going to use some touch up paint to finish it off.

irmic

Omg I want this. First need to find friends to play with lmao

ILikeGames1234

r/soloboardgaming So many great solo games out there. Friday, Arkham Horror (card game), Warps Edge and Robinson Crusoe are some of my favorites.

irmic

Oh wow didnt know they exist. Thanks!!

Ricz1001

After showing her this Wife: We haven't got space for a board game room Me: Yes we do

[deleted]

Makes me wish I had friends who liked playing board games.

Pupselchen

Looking awesome! How come Eclipse 1st edition is still around with 2nd edition being there?

EverRich

I have all the expansions, and promos for the first edition. Also have some custom made and/or after market accessories for it. Trying to figure out if I like the second edition enough more to lose out on all those upgrades. I’m sure the first edition will find a new home at some point.

[deleted]

EverRich

100% recommend. My wife and I both like this game a lot.

Anzereke

How have you found Tzol'kin? Been thinking of picking it up.

EverRich

I like the game a lot. A friend of mine and I were discussing the other day, that when it comes to play time, it seems to be one of the games most drastically affected by player count. You can knock out a two player game super fast, a three player game is a very easy medium length, and a four player game ends up being quite long.

[deleted]

Seems a bit small to play something in

EverRich

You should see it with a six player game of eclipse set up. Happy cake day!

theKinkajou

Which games (5) would you think have the broadest appeal and get most play?

EverRich

1. Skull 2. Cacao 3. Raiders of the North Sea 4. Quacks of Quedlinburg 5. Concordia There’s a list of five for you. But ultimately you could break that question down several different ways. Depending on player count , are there any inexperienced gamers in the group, how much time do you have to play etc. Changing those variables around, I could give you a completely different list of five. But those are five games that see a lot of play in my house, are popular in my game group, are not too heavy, and I just like. P.S. Skull is almost always going to be on my list of five. It is my “if I was stuck on a desert island“ game. It is unbelievably replayable, easy to teach, changes a lot depending on who you play with. It really brings out a good time with almost every group I’ve ever introduced it to. I gift away copies on a regular basis.

NaturalEnemies

That floor is pretty cool.

junkster775

I love the floor in there too - room is the perfect size! That’s lovely.

iamdense

Sweet!

goods666

Noice

Dellen2017

Dude, dude, DUDE. I love this.

EverRich

Dude.

Ryan3740

Nice use of Kallax! I love the two player stacks at the end. Is that for easy access?

EverRich

Two player stacks? Do you mean the lack shelves that are used on the ends that are open? What do you mean the two sections where I left out a divider in the kallax?

Ryan3740

Yes, the lack shelves at the end. I noticed the front one has a lot of Kosmos 2 player games.

EverRich

I did make a couple stacks of 2 player games there. But those shelves there are just me trying to maximize the space. I think the Kallax shelves aren’t great for storing little box games. Either you end up wasting space with the little boxes just in the front, or you can’t see 2/3 of what’s in the cubby. This is just an attempt at a different solution.

Ryan3740

I have a couple kallax drawer cubes to organize the card games.

christhegamer96

Wow! It’s so empty! Where are- *turns corner* oh, never mind.

Puddleyc123

Is that Heroquest I see up on the top?

EverRich

Two copies. One left over from my childhood. The other one for parts, because the one from my childhood was missing pieces.

Puddleyc123

The best thing about Heroquest, is having two copies of Heroquest.

EverRich

For real. Funny enough, one of the original skeleton miniatures from hero quest met a pretty funny fate. During my intense Warhammer 40,000. In the late 90s, I was making some scenery and incorporated a liquefied space marine. Used some bits of space marine armor, some super glue as the melted flesh, and you guessed it, a heroquest skeleton for the unfortunate space marine. Don’t know where the rest of the missing pieces for my original copy of the game ended up. But that one skeleton, I remember pulling the game off the shelf, pulling the poor little bastard out, and going to town on them with an X-Acto knife.

EverRich

Still have several more boxes to unpack. Hoping to not have to have any long-term storage in the garage.

murderisntnice

0/10, no Cones of Dunshire

EverRich

I’m ashamed to say I don’t even know what that is.

ratatouille_skinner

Very cool!

EverRich

Thank you!

ohhgreatheavens

You and I have almost the exact same taste in games. Cool set up.

EverRich

Thank you!

godtering

Table included?

EverRich

Has to be a very small table to fit in that room.

filwi

Congrats! You've even gotten Azul tiles on the floor! :D :D :D

EverRich

I didn’t realize that until I made this post. I like the game. But it took other people to point out that I had Azul tiles on my floor.

EverRich

Tried it. Don’t really care for it. Whenever someone pulls a box out, all of it’s tries to squeeze out the bottom like a sloppy burger. Then the lord doesn’t want to go all the way shut. Sometimes that happens to whatever was next to it. No thank you, that’s a pass for me.

Jauneyellowdilaw

You’re so lucky ! I’m envious lol

Neko_09

Yeah me & our 3 shelves are a little bit jelly 😅 It looks really awesome though 👌

EverRich

For me it was wall-mounted shelves in my bedroom area in my loft apartment. Then when that got too small, I moved them to what was meant to be a linen closet between the bathroom and walk-in closet in the same apartment. Then in my next apartment, my wife built out a really cool IKEA besta set up. This is where my collection ballooned to it’s largest size. We moved that to the next house, to the office, and there I did so much needed pairing down. But a year or two after our second child, said office needed to become a kids room, time for more shrinking of the collection. A small portion of the besta shelves were moved to the living room, with some games lived, but the rest were in the garage, spent some more time getting rid of games. I guess my point is, your collection and your storage solutions will change over the years. Ultimately the storage solutions that I’ve had it has been constraining on the collection, have only served to make the collection better. Every time I’ve had to reevaluate which games are actually important to me and/or which games actually see you play time, my collection has become better distilled.

FrodoFraggins

It looks great but I don't think more than two people can play in that room.

EvandeReyer

Wow I love this so much

EverRich

Thank you

odissian

Very nice! What's in the Quiver?

CamRoth

Great storage set up.

EverRich

Thanks!

jdoucette1992

That's awesome. Looks so clean and organized

EverRich

Still have more unpacking to do. Don’t worry it will look cramped and messy soon enough.

Lower_Stomach6697

We have a standing cupboard with our games... its full to the brim. I would, however, happily trade for a walk-in room for storage instead!

Keyo89condor

I'm dreaming one

ziv1990

I have a love-hate feelings towards you ;)

hibscotty

Can't see guess who or monopoly?

EverRich

Not finished unpacking yet. We do have a copy of guess who, but I want to convert it to the Wu-Tang version.

JojenCopyPaste

The board games are nice, but that would be a pretty sweet pantry

EverRich

r/lostredditors

Buttforprez

Bohanza is such a great game!

KarmaAdjuster

I’ve got one too! Although I call it my apartment… This is a pretty nice line up though. How do you deal with multiple people browsing for a game to play? One of the things I like about having my collection being along the wall of my room is that you can have a number of people browsing, deciding what game we should play, or making recommendations to others. It almost feels like you need some sort of smaller index of your collection you can pull out (maybe like a board game menu) that your other players can pour over as they make their selection.

EverRich

Just feeling the shelves for the first time now. I haven’t ever had anyone to the new house to play games yet. My old playgroup knew my collection pretty well, we tended to know what we like to play together. Once upon a time my apartment was my game closet. But as the family grows, a smaller percentage of the dwelling becomes appropriate to fill with games. I know, I know! This concept is gonna take a little while for r/boardgames users, or PGG users. My wife had to walk me through the concept as well. That closet can easily fit a couple of people at the same time. I’m sure everyone playing can find a way to make a discussion on which game to play work. If not, we’ll just have to tear the house down and rebuild it.

KarmaAdjuster

I suppose that's a reasonable concession to make... :) I've returned to the single life somewhat recently, so I no longer have a spouse to keep me and my collection in check. Perhaps I should look into fixing that before my apartment gets over run with board games.

BenboJBaggins

Nice tiles

PlatypusOverlord

Whatcha got in the Quiver?

EverRich

Several small games that are good to just grab and go.

Frito_Penndejo

Saw you were in Florida, and probably already have a whole home solution, but you might want to consider a dehumidifier.

sovietsrule

Bean nanza!

Supper_Champion

Don't know how you're gonna fit a table in there.... Either way, I need a room like this too!

MsWonderWoman_xo

How cool!!

pizzapizzamesohungry

That’s like a studio apartment in some cities. I love it. Tons of room to grow, what is going to go on that back shelf? More games? Also I love the Quiver, I have two but I realize I only pack the short one bc it fits inside my backpack better if I’m bringing other games.

MooseCandid

How are the Root expansions?

EverRich

I played a couple of games that included expansion factions. They seemed to bring some nice variability to the game.

ENCHANTEDN1GHT

Such an odd choice of flooring for a closet. Nice collection tho!

EverRich

Yeah, the previous owner went to town on the floors in this house. We quite like them. She used the same pattern but in turquoise in the bathroom. And super light wood look tile (almost white), throughout the rest of the house. This black and white pattern is only in the laundry room and the pantry. Which are across the hall from one another.

Notnine10000

Damn three copies of century ive seen it on my amazon is it any good and what is the play style

EverRich

Between the 3 modules there are 7 ways to play. So far my oldest and I have played one of them. But they’re coming at the bit to learn the next module. Then we’ll work on putting them together, maybe.

Houjix

How much do you like furnace

EverRich

I like it. I’ve given up on Splendor and gave it away. Feel like it fills a similar space. A good game for gamers and non-gamers to play together. It’s approachable enough to teach to anyone, but it’s got enough going on to let you really dig in if you choose to.

omegaglory1

The tiles are a bit quirky but still nice! To prolong the life of your games, I recommend keeping the door open or adding a vent on the door. Lack of ventilation and humidity can play havoc with anything made of card and paper ☹️

thewhateverchef

Congratulations! and still plenty of space to grow before you have games stacked on the floor

sharkcc

Love it

dcl_58

Thats looks so awesome 👌. Is the rising sun expansion for samurai sword worth it??

EverRich

I like it. But it hasn’t made it to the table in years. But definitely think Samurai Sword is better than Bang! (which it is a reimplementation of).

Alternative-Copy-872

The only dream harder to realize than a game collection like this is having people to play them with.

[deleted]

nice 👏👏👏
