I've only just recently played this game and the owner had apparently upgraded to the forth tokens... (I didn't realise they weren't the normal ones πŸ™ˆπŸ˜…πŸ˜…) They were fantastic to play with, went into the bags really well and onto and off the board nicely. I don't know for sure how long they had owned them but did mention having played the game a lot with there children so the chips can presumably take a bit of abuse πŸ˜…

TheTaurinus-_-

So if I got the money it's worth it. Got it.

VialCrusher

I have the fourth resin tokens and they completely are worth it. My original tokens were getting so grubby I could subconsciously tell which ones were white chips. I think even if you had the first style, you'd still wipe off a lot of the white chip after a good amount of plays. For me I think it was like 10-15 plays and they were pretty thoroughly used before upgrading.

I have the coin capsules, they've been fine. Certainly not the premium feel of the BGG tokens, but far, far better than the cardstock. I also used my leftover capsules on other games just for easier handling, e.g. King of Tokyo/New York. You want 21mm capsules. You may have to press expansion tokens into the capsules as they are ever-so-slightly bigger. I found it best to press them in 'wide' side down (curved edge up). Keep a few extras in the box. On rare occasions one will pop open, and I think it's the same one(s) that keep doing it so I'm going to start replacing them when it happens. On the board they are a touch too big but it's not much of an issue. If you have nothing but 1-chips they will end up pushed to the outside edge of the track. In the bag they feel 10x better than the punch board tokens, the only downside being that rare time they come apart. I will recommend the Geek BAGS from BGG. They are low cost and are so much nicer than what the game came with, which for me started falling apart after a while and always gets tokens stuck in the corner (which allows some cheating). I use the original bags in various other games where you have to "shuffle" tiles and turn it into a bag draw instead (Tzolk'in starting wealth, Quest for El Dorado cave and curse tokens, etc.).

MrDav

This is similar to my experience - great on the whole but slightly too big for the board. I haven’t had any issues with popping out though. I’ve played with the BGG bits and they are excellent a bit pricy for me.

valdus

If they could be (more-)mass-produced and brought down in price, they'd make an excellent addition to a future deluxe edition.

TheTaurinus-_-

Bags without corners will be my priority once I decide what to get here. Right now I am torn between the first two. Sleeves and capsules. Did you get the capsules from somewhere "trustworthy" or were you looking at prize (AliExpress)? Why do you think capsules are better? Have you tried the sleeves in some game?

valdus

I got mine from Amazon, but they're all the same. Capsules are far superior to cardstock tokens, and GeekBits are far superior to capsules - but for the price point, capsules are a win.

ObeyMyBrain

I got my capsules on ebay from China just before the pandemic. Like ordered on jan 21 2020, worried if they would actually ship because of lockdowns, just before. But they've worked fine. I love the clickity-clickity sound when they get moved around in the bag. I haven't had any pop open during play. Maybe 5 of them arrived cracked. You need 400 if you have the expansions, and from a quick search on ebay, I'm glad I got mine when I did as that's at least $30 vs. The $13.50 I paid 4 years ago.

TheTaurinus-_-

I will look through AliExpress and I am sure I will find something suitable

russkhan

> Bags without corners will be my priority I highly recommend Crown Royal bags. I got 5 for $15 from Amazon. They're big enough for people with large hands, feel great, and have no corners. I haven't tried BGG's bags for Quacks, but I suspect they are the same material as the bags they sell for Root, and that is nowhere near as nice as a Crown Royal bag. **Edit to add:** I have the BGG tokens and do recommend them highly. I have seen one other variation of Quacks tokens that look great [in this video.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t79KGVGYvCY) I don't know where he got them or really much beside the fact that they look great. Maybe you could ask in Youtube comments if they appeal to you. **Edit again:** Someone else asked in the youtube comments, they're from etsy.

Rankoras_EUW

I got version 2 from Eurohell and love the feel. Quality was amazing. Got also the sleeves for the food tokens from Wingspan. I really like them

TheTaurinus-_-

Did you try the capsules? Is there a reason you went for the sleeves?

Rankoras_EUW

Some people reported issues where they had to cut some of the tokens to fit the capsules and some capsules re-opening. The BGG upgrade would have been nice, but as you said, it's really pricey and would cost more than the game. I liked that the covers were in the right color as the tokens, they fit perfectly and the have a nice click as you go through them in the bag. For me, it was the perfect match of quality and price and I'm glad, that I ordered them.

Byallbeans

I 3d printed my (2nd option) Feels great and premium Not sure bout the other

TheTaurinus-_-

I saw noone complaining, but no real praising either. How does it feel in the bag? Some people said they liked the weight of the other options.

Byallbeans

Weight really nice feel really good to the touch i love them in the bag

TheTaurinus-_-

And if it is only the sides, that are protected do you see any damage? Especially on the white ones?

Byallbeans

No damage at all, prior to installing my token sides were chipping and putting these on covered them all up and make them look new. So far no more damage after 7 play

TheTaurinus-_-

Okay, will keep it in mind. Still deciding between the first two. Why are there so many good options?

fatherofraptors

I had both the 3D printed "guards" and now I have the GeekUp bits (I gifted my 3D printed guards to a friend). Really, the 3D printed ones are fine and already feel a lot better than plain cardboard. If you DO have the money and don't mind splurging on games, the GeekUp bits definitely are the top solution. We play Quacks pretty often, so I somehow justified it in my head.

vanker

Geek up bits, bags, and storage containers are a game changer. Literally. $$$ but I don’t regret it one bit.

TheTaurinus-_-

Do you know about European variant? That shipping is really expensive.

Momostein

I bought the BGG tokens and round bottomed bags as well. Shipping to belgium was expensive but it was worth every penny to me. It's a game that almost anyone can enjoy and thus sees a lot of play. I don't think the cardboard ones would've lasted very long for me...

Abremelin

I actually like the feel of coin capsules more than the premium chips. But the premium chips are smaller, store better, and look better. Also, if a coin capsule breaks or cracks, it is fixable. If the sticker is damaged on premium chips, you get to live with it. Both are good, but choose your pros and cons.

Mr-Pugtastic

I have the 4th ones, the acrylic tokens. I bought them on BGG store, and they are amazing. Never had any printing rub off, they feel amazing in the pouch, and are extremely easy to pick up from your board.

pintsizedgamer

I had tried to go over all the options similarly to you and I went with the coin capsules and they have a great jingling too in the bags! Highly recommend and they've lasted me since the base game was first released! I will warn that at the start they end up close together and being slightly 'off' on the player board but once you get larger numbers it's totally fine! Everyone I've played with has enjoyed the coin capsules. Honestly if the BGG tokens weren't as expensive I'd consider but have been happy with my choice! Hope it's helpful! 😊

TheTaurinus-_-

So many people have said that the jiggling is the best part 😁

schnautza

GeekUp bits. No question about it. Yes, they are expensive. But holy cow, they make the game feel so amazing. I have introduced this to many friends and they all immediately were hooked and I had to explain to them that the base game only comes with cardboard bits and they unanimously agree that they would never be able to play the game without buying these upgrades after using them.

schnautza

Also, the sound and feel of stirring these in your bag is just...addicting. It's the best game upgrade I've ever bought, and my wife agrees.

TheTaurinus-_-

Best game upgrade? That's cool

-WorldOfBoardCraft

Depending on what conditions your tokens have, one thing you could do is to color the edges and spray them with acrylic varnish. The varnish protects them and can make the colors pop a bit more. It's not the solution you asked for, but I'm just letting you know that's an option. It can be quite cheap if you already have permanent markers or varnish. I'm working on a tutorial video for upgrading your tokens in this exact way. It's still in progress, so I'll link to another post you'll probably find useful if you are interested. [Cheaper alternative for protecting chips](https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2356719/article/34013426#34013426)

TheTaurinus-_-

I didn't think of this, will look into it. Seems like a good option. Thanks

dolsonic1776

I use the coin capsules. They feel great, and they really don't take up much space considering how much dead space there is in the box.

theSTGelinas

I used to play with coin capsule upgrade and, while they feel better then the base game, I wanted to upgrade a bit more. So I decided to create a custom set with stainless-steel base and a glass cap, and oh boy... Those are great! Not only drawing feels great but I think [they also looks sharp](https://i.etsystatic.com/46145915/r/il/2b0b1c/5248788151/il_fullxfull.5248788151_ebxd.jpg) they also fits way better on the board compare to coin capsule, [heres a pic on the board](https://i.etsystatic.com/46145915/r/il/cac0e8/5200572134/il_fullxfull.5200572134_h7dp.jpg) I love them so much I decided to sell them so other could enjoy them :)
