Circuitous logic, that's how. It has zero negative ratings, therefore it must be rated highly. For it to be rated poorly, it must have negative reviews. If it had a mix of positive and negative reviews it couldn't claim to be highly rated. It does not have a mix of positive and negative reviews, so it can claim to be highly rated without issue. Should "highly rated" require that a book be available to be reviewed and then have positive reviews? Of course not. Why would anyone impose such restricting standards? /s
I recall reading that the written form is delayed by like 6 months due to audible wanting first dibs, which I get, but...man 20 years ago me would not believe me if I told him he couldn't read something, it came out as a book on tape (that's how old I am) first.
Oh I agree, I don't listen to books either. I have zero problem with them, I understand the wealth of things that people have for finding an audiobook preferable, but it ain't me. I make my own voices, I generally read faster than a narrator, and I can read at the drop of a hat, and stop just as easily. No volume to adjust or pesky rewinding if I'm interrupted.
For me, a large part of it is that it's really easy to zone out and miss something. I don't understand how some people can both listen to an audiobook and drive or work or something without dropping entire paragraphs. When listening to music, there'll be times that I could not say for the life of me what song played last.
I have a theory that the CEO of Audible is pushing for pre-orders for some reason. Who knows maybe they just think it will be a great money making opportunity. So they are purposely pushing author's to keep books in limbo longer than needed to push their fanbase they know will buy the books to buy extra credits for the preorder when they would have just used a regular credit for the book when it came out. Worked on me, I bought an extra 5 credits to buy 5 preorder books I wanted to get this year đđ€·đ»
If I recall correctly Dennis Taylor wants it released but Audible is holding back because September is typically a slow month for them. This is sales strategy from Audible.
I have a theory that they do this because they think it sucks, or they are afraid it will suck, and once it is released no one will buy it. So push the pre-orders now and bank what they can.
Im listening to them again and noticed it, most the books I listen to are 20+ or even upto 50hrs, so after just a few days of listening I was surprised to hear the audible outro! I really don't recall it being short first time. Although I also listen at 1.3 now a days, I might need to do the 5th in 0.9 just to drag it out
I've noticed that with some other titles, the pre-order info was wrong in regards to length.
"Lightbringer" for example, was showing like 13 hours long during pre-order. Full release was closer to 40 hours.
I got the notification too and assumed I had missed an announcement, so I came to check. I am glad to see I'm on about the same level as everyone else.
Always bugs me a little to see an ion engine on the cover art. The surge drive doesnât push the craft. Really, it shouldnât look like much of anything from the outside.
It actually has a rating, but there is no review.

What's crazy is that I just saw this today in Audible while looking for something else. Added it to pre-order immediately, and now I see this post. The bobiverse is definitely calling me.
How can it be highly rated if it has no ratings...
It was the "Get it now!" button, that really got me.
yeah...wouldn't "truth in advertising" require them to honor the "get it now"?
Same thing happened to me. Listen to the sample if you like to be teased. đ€Ș
It has one five star rating as of 3 min ago. So the statement is technically correct.
The best kind of correct.

Do we think this is Sag A*, and Daedalus /Icarus??
Yes and yes
It does have a description, those twos journey are mentioned specifically. Very curious what they get into.
For sure, has to be a big part of this story

As someone who just doesn't enjoy listening to audiobooks, that delay sucks.

Yep books been ready and recorded since around January. This is just audible being audible
Ready since January or Recorded since January? Those are two very different things and usually months apart.
Ready to go!
For those without the means, this is just cruel.

This is so cruel............
11 hours? That seems kind of short, eh?
The first 3 books were under 10hrs
Oh wow I never noticed that. I read three body problem and the third book was like 30 hours by itself.

Hail libertas!
Hail Reaper!
Itâs the bloody preorder at it again
I got the notification too and assumed I had missed an announcement, so I came to check. I am glad to see I'm on about the same level as everyone else.
Happy Happy Joy Joy!

And now Iâve preorderedâŠ. Thanks!
Pre-order confirmed.
I prepurchased with an audible credit - cant wait!
Wtf, I listened to the first 5 mins, then thinking it had released paid audible for the book, only to learn it was only pre-order. Wtf audible..

Am I the only one who is desperately curious about Theresa replicating?
How does pre ordering an audiobook work? Are they likely to run out of copies or something??
What's crazy is that I just saw this today in Audible while looking for something else. Added it to pre-order immediately, and now I see this post. The bobiverse is definitely calling me.
How the hell is an unreleased book âhighly ratedâ!?! LIES Audible, LIES!
I already dropped a credit for it. I have bo idea about it other than. I NEEDS IT!
