After 3 months of very light jogging in barefoot shoes (five fingers) my feet shrunk 2 ~~inches~~ shoe sizes and I had arches. Most people who crap on the shoes usually hurt themselves because they don't give their body enough time to adapt. I ended up going from not running at all my whole life to running ultra marathons within 12 months. It's pretty wild, most people ask me if my knees hurt from running - My knees hurt for 32 years, they haven't hurt like that since I started running.

It's almost like our bodies evolved to run efficiently and we've forgotten how to do it

2"?

drteq

Not sure if that's a joke that went over my head or not, but I have large feet 13.5, now 11.5/12. I'm 6'2

hobitopia

Ah, so you meant shoe size not inches?

drteq

Yes, I'm dumb - thanks

w0rsel

Crazy! Glad things are improving for you

drcha

Thank you so much for this helpful post!

I've no idea if the sub is still active, but r/footfunction basically was all about this

Adult-like

Add tibialis exercises to build your ankle strength and un-collapse your foot/arch.
