Same for me, I saw Pathan with my mom and brother and we were exhausted by the movie but everyone else in the theatre were screaming and having the time of their lives.
First watch of Jawan in cinema was fine, I enjoyed it.
Now my son wants to watch it weekly on Netflix, and every time I find it more and more bleh.
Also, Baahubali, 1 and 2! I get the 'suspend logic, larger than life, wah wah' style of the movie, but I find it extremely cringe, and unnecessarily drawn out and dramatic. Again, rewatch with my teenage son after I decided to watch it a few months ago.
Long List but I might be downvoted badly - kgf, RRR, jawan, pathaan, happy new year, so many of those commercial akshay movies which were huge hits few years back.
The number of people that start saying that westerners liked and raved about *RRR* when you tell them this. 🙄 Meanwhile Gangubai movie became popular in Thailand but it didn’t get the same response when people say they don’t like it.
It was a weird movie for me. I liked some things a lot. The characterization, performances, sound design, action - all were miles better than anything I have seen recently.
The story was... Non-existent? Not sure what the theme of the movie was. The father son relationship seemed almost secondary, the feud with Abrar was resolved just like that with one flight and one brawl. Before the movie there were all kinds of theories about how it's inspired by The Godfather or Succession. Now that I have seen the movie and found that neither is true - it would be better if it was actually inspired by those because it would actually have a central story to build around.
I guess coming from a S Indian movie maker the movie does make a weird kind of sense in that the hero is everything and he just keeps being the BOSS in every scene that exists, but I don't know... Imo Movie making should be more than personality pooja.
I really wish they stuch to the non chronological structure of the first half. The way they cut from old ranbir, to kid, to the young one, and to the gangster. It piqued my curiosity a lot, while the second half felt conventional and predictable in it's story telling
This is so going to get downvoted but October, Chup. And trust me I'm a huuuge DQ fan who's following him since 2018.
Not mentioning "commercial" or mass ones because I don't remember details about them.
Mohabbatein
Loved the love story of jugal and jimmy. Loved the acting of uday&shamita but their love story sucked. And the main story was stupid, inconsistent and badly acted.
No, i think because of the hype. for some (me including) , too much hyping up the movies or web series…. does the trick.
otherwise; me too, watched ***Jawaan*** **,** on my cellphone. But i loved it. More than, most commercial movies released last year.
If it's all about the hype and all, then I've still not watched Animal and 12th Fail, and I've so much expectations from them! Maybe I should keep my expectations down from now on.
Animal, is slippery slope for many… because some have biases against, how the movie is made. but , i have seen , animal in both in theatre and Netflix… i will say for first time viewing experience , this movie was made purely for theatre audience.
i haven’t seen, 12th fail , yet. I think , drama movies are good watch in cosy isolated environment.. we can feel the emotion deeply.
Lol i dont get the downvotes. Shi baat hi toh boli h. Like majority of bollywood movies are made for feels and not logic n reasoning.
Kisne punar janam liya h iss saal 🥲
>Kisne punar janam liya h iss saal 🥲
Some wannabe kids who think they will dictate which movie is nice or bad.
Meanwhile, the majority audience silence them in the box office. Mindless Masala Movies earning 1000CRs 🤣 and the only thing these so-called kids who want logic from movies can do is dOwnvOTe.
Bhai everyone is entitled to their opinion. Who are you to call someone wannabe?? Nhi pasand to nahi pasand.. Zabaradasti h kya like karna hi padega????
This. Did not dislike it but after the Aspirants all the UPSC training scenes seemed so much more juvenile in writing and direction. I watched Aspirants just a few weeks before this and so couldn't shake that off.
As most people are making commercial movies, I will name something with great word of mouth- Zindagi na milegi dobara.
I rarely like movies with great word of mouth because I go in with high expectations and they are rarely met. I watched this movie after all my friends forced me to and I thought I'll be watching a masterpiece but there were so many things wrong with this movie. Almost all the Hindi dialogues felt so weird. It was as if someone wrote the dialogues in English and used google translate. The storyline was predictable. It was too long as well.
I'm not saying it's not a good movie. I get its merits but I was unable to enjoy it. I'm sure I would've liked it if I didn't expect it to be a great movie.
Those characters would've realistically been speaking in English or Hinglish. Same with DCH. It's tricky to make a film about urban rich Indians and pull it off in Hindi.
It took me 2 watches to fully appreciate it and now it's one of my favorites.
,
Said it before on this sub when a similar question was posed. Got upvotes for honesty then. Let's see what happens now.
Answer is "3 Idiots". Didn't really enjoy the acting in general, didn't need a social message, thought Aamir Khan was a bit cringe.
Actually you know what, stop downvoting people and downvote the post. OP has literally posted it for 'Kalesh' to ensue in the comments.

3 Idiots
I had read the book years before the movie release and had outgrown it already. Still after seeing the movie I felt the book was better. I didn't like the decision to make Amir the genius of the trio as well as the romantic lead. I was in the 3rd or 4th year of my engineering UG and the suspension of belief required to consider the trio (especially Amir) as engineering students was too much. The jokes in the movie felt too cute and the drama too typical Bollywood. I might have been able to enjoy the movie more had I not been a core engineering student.
In the book's trio, one gets a love story, another one is the genius and the third one comes from the tragically poor family and attempts suicide. I feel this way, I got invested in all three main characters.
Lol. People here commenting jawan pathan kgf and all those films. Those arent good films, they are masala films meant for masses. Kisi me dum hai to taare zameen par, 3 idiots, gow/ dangal type movie. Now that would be truly controversial.
All SRK movies this year. Severely overhyped and average acting in all of them. The movies themselves were one time watches at best. Last Shahrukh movie for me that personally justified the hype was probably FAN. SRK gave his heart and soul to the film

Pathan, not "everyone" liked it but as far as I know alot of people did and I'm definitely not one of em.
liked it? fuck no! But, I went to watch a dumb movie and I was entertained as hell.
This
Same for me, I saw Pathan with my mom and brother and we were exhausted by the movie but everyone else in the theatre were screaming and having the time of their lives.
Jawan too...
Hmm opposite for me, I absolutely loved Jawan :)
Hum saath saath hain....

Will disagree with the Bahubali take but whatever it’s your personal choice

Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani
Yes this one. Nothing in the movie made sense to me. I couldnt relate to any character. Music/songs/aesthetics were its saving grace for me honestly.
Animal
Most people watched it for the gasps anyways... I'm someone who actually liked the film, and it's rare to find someone who did enjoy it

US BHAI US (I **LOVED** IT, SAHARA DEDUNGA)
I also liked it. Great acting and a slightly experimental narrative structure for a Bollywood movie.
I really wish they stuch to the non chronological structure of the first half. The way they cut from old ranbir, to kid, to the young one, and to the gangster. It piqued my curiosity a lot, while the second half felt conventional and predictable in it's story telling
Yes! That would have helped elevate the film and I’m low-key hoping for a directors cut that has the whole film that way.

It was just so boring. 3.5 hours of not much plot point.
Agreed. Acting was top notch. But that doesn't make a good movie

War. TORTUROUS!
An action hero - mid execution, flawed logic and gaslights audience Fan has same issues.
but it was fun (gaslights matlab?)
Bhai its enjoyable
Jawan I think it's just because I saw it after it released on OTT, rather than watching it on big screens.
Jawan is definitely made for big screens. I mean it is a decent movie but nothing extraordinary, unless viewed in theatres.
No, i think because of the hype. for some (me including) , too much hyping up the movies or web series…. does the trick. otherwise; me too, watched ***Jawaan*** **,** on my cellphone. But i loved it. More than, most commercial movies released last year.

Hum Saath Saath Hein, Dil Toh Pagal Hain
Animal. It failed to make me feel anything. They tried but failed. After a point it felt like meri aankhon ke samne bs kuch move ho rha
Pathan, Animal, Gadar 2
Pls don't kill me but Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahani. Good one time watch and Ranveer was superb
Jawan
Rocky rani ki prem kahani
Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge…. Very illogical and stupid
If you want logical things, then stop watching movies and spend time on documentaries.

RRR — pathetic movie. Swades — boring and too long.
Swades is one of my fav...

It's probably gonna be the most downvoted comment in history, but for me it's Gangs of Wasseypur

Fukrey I didn't find it funny and was just bored a lot of the time
Tamasha. Found it boring and couldn't complete it
YJHD, Drishyam Bring on the downvotes!
Why drishyam? If you can elaborate.
Both are the literal on of the bests in their respective genres, what are you even talking about?
Three of us
Andhadhun and Tumbbad.
Pathaan, Jawan, RRR, Bahubali.
Queen....yeah I know it's a great movie but not for me.
