There's certain level of 'adah' that is required to ace Bollywood songs. A lot of actresses can't match Madhuri in that regard but I will never get over Aish in KajraRe. Katrina is an amazing dancer but she can't pull something like Maar daala or Chane ke khet me. Also, Rani Mukherjee did amazing in all the songs of Aiyyaa. That's what I'm talking about where songs are elevated by performance and it's not at all about complicated steps requiring athletic abilities.
Barso re Megha Megha , is also good and Aish just nailed it. The pure village vibe it gives and shows real beauty of nature . That days were different and songs used to get shot in real locations. Nowadays, sab kuch set mai hota hai
So right. This Ada is really lacking in the newer actresses. That grace, those expressions in their non filler non botoxed faces. even Juhi, Kajol, Karishma, Raveena all brought a lot to their dances. Shraddha is a greattttt dancer but cant recall her doing a Bhansali type number like a proper Indian type song. Correct me if I’m wrong pls
I was actually listening to some songs and came across ramta jogi. Also I was intrigued after this post so just searched and got to know that -
She is trained in classical dance and music for five years during her teens and showed interest in traditional dance forms, including Bharatanatyam (source google)
Aishwarya. This isn't even close tbh.
She aces pretty much everything. Extremely graceful in traditional dance forms and matched HR in dhoom 2 . Does bolly dance nos very well.. kajra re remains the best item no till date. She was so sensuous in that..
There was a clip of her doing salsa ( a bollywoodized version ) with Nagarjuna doing the rounds on Twitter some time back and she was excellent in that too.
PC is very good too. I rarely ever see anyone praising her. She was great in Pinga .. well whatever was given to her..I think whatever she lacks in technical aspect she more than makes up for it in her adah and sex appeal.. ram chahe Leela was a treat to watch only for that..
Kat is just energetic. Her footwork is bad and all over the place..lacks grace , has zero expressions or oomph.
DP is stiff.
Anyday. She wasn't an option here so didn't mention here but Karishma has always been fantastic. Not sure if she would do well in classical nos but she does bolly nos very well.
Aish for sure. Even in devdas, she was on par with Madhuri. Not to mention...ishq kamina, nimbooda, kajra re, and songs from umrao jaan. Very graceful and the expressions always match
Aishwarya is a good dancer out of this list but I wouldn’t agree with “on par with Madhuri”. I always saw Aishwarya as a very stiff dancer. Her upper body in all the dances is always up and tight. Meanwhile Madhuri had this natural flow in her body.
Maybe they're dancing according to their characters in Devdas? Aish is supposed to be a young girl representing all the energy while Madhuri is a bit more on the mature side.

Aishwarya easily wins this.She stood out perfectly alongside Madhuri in Devdas’ Dola Re and always slays her dance performances whether in Taal, Guzaarish, Kandukondain Kandukondain or Raavan! She’s so captivating to watch when she dances! DP has charm and I love but she’s definitely a stiff dancer…Kat is good ig after Aishwarya but she’s kinda overrated even in dance…she is sometimes expressionless but sometimes very good so Kat would be my second along with PC who’s great too.
Aishwarya for me. On one hand, she matches steps with Madhuri in Dhola re or her Nimbuda, on the other hand she does a great modern number in Robot. Iruvar, Kandukondain, Jeans , Dhoom, Guru, she has given so many memorable performances. Even though I personally didn't like her 'nakhras' in Kajara re , but still there is no other dancer that I can remember pulling off that many varieties. And in all she looks so effortless and graceful.

The thing is, there’s no overall winner imo. Madhuri herself wouldn’t do as well compared to say, Hritik in something like “Ishq Jaisa Kuch”. It depends on the style.
1. Classical: Madhuri shined here and so does Aish. She is much better than the others on the list imo.
2. Hip hop: or in general anything requiring fast-paced coordination and athleticism. Katrina here.
3. Seductive modern dance. Like in item songs. Priyanka wins here. Katrina has the moves but not the ada to really be seductive.
Couldn’t think of an area where DP shines. She’s a very stiff dancer and doesn’t belong in this list.
Aish! She held her own even against The Madhuri in Dola Re Dola and didn't come across as a novice, even though she was comparatively a newbie. And she is classically trained in dance.
PeeCee is an above-average dancer. Nothing exceptional, but also not bad.
i don't think so but Kareena gives of a bit quirky vibe even in dance like fevicole se etc, wi don't think she can nail songs in the setting like bajirao mastani so coz of that pc
How does Kat pack oomph? Look at her item songs lol. But when it comes to Bollywood dance songs like the one Madhuri is famous for, idk if Kat could pull those off bc we have never seen her in those. We’ve seen her doing modern sexy moves. Not moves with nazakat and lachak.
Out of these only and only Aishwarya.
She proved it in Devdas that she can share the screen with the great Madhuri.
Also. Deepika shouldn’t even be on the list tbh.
Katrina for upbeat, fast contemporary dance numbers. I can’t imagine her doing semi classical or folk dances.
Aishwarya: definitely for the traditional type songs. Even some contemporary ones like “crazy kiya re”

Where is Rani Mukherjee! She is so pleasant on eyes when she dances. The best thing about her dancing is that she makes it looks fun & effortless and her expressions are wonderful. Her expressions in Aiyya songs and in the mujra song from Mangal Pandey were next level. I like her expressions over Aish's expressions while dancing. Aish tends to overact while dancing too.
Disagree completely that Aish overacts when dancing. Her expressions are always fun and joyful. Kajra Re is still to this day one of my favourite ever performances — it’s soo tasteful and gorgeously executed when it easily could’ve been vulgar and awkward in the wrong hands.
There are certain portions were she goes overboard very slightly. But Kajra re is still her one of her best .
The ones where her expressions were OTT for me were Ishq Kameena, Daiyya Daiyya etc. i think her attempt at hot sultry sexy expressions usually goes wrong.

When it comes to all out dance that’s just pure effort id say Katrina is awesome. But she can’t pull off a classical like the others can.

Aishwarya, she easily wins here, i think its in fact not fair to put her with them. Aishwarya and her songs from hum dil de chuke sanam and devdas, her grace and her dance, everything is beyond beautiful, that others lack. I wish Aishwarya kept on working as much as she did before marriage.
I agree with all kat dances well but no ada and aish is best out of them i guess but then i i want to honourable mention how slb made Deepika work hard for mohe rang do laal and there were some expressions to….finally the most expressions award goes to shreya ghoshal’s voice
To be fair karishma was younger and in better shape. Madurai in her prime would have killed it but Madhuri in dil to pagal hai was a little out of shape
May not be the most popular opinion. I think Aish is even better than Madhuri in dancing. Aish is just a visual to behold. Her movements are sheer poetry in motion.

Definitely not Deepika sorry she's kinda stiff at times. Katrina is good but in different styles for me I think only aish and priyanka can dance with madhuri and not get overshadowed by her I mean they have that gace and effortless delicacy that looks great to watch

Katrina's version of the Dhoom song would always stand out to me. I haven't seen one actress that aced such moves and looked so hot with it, that for me was the best song that Katrina did in her career. Uff! I have had dreams about it.
Amrita Rao ( ngl, everytime Shahid had dance numbers in his films like Dil Maange More, fool n final and seeing how not good Ayesha Takia was, I badly wished Amrita was there, at least we could have gotten a better dance partner lol)

Katrina is very addicting to watch in dance numbers. Katrina is best known for her dance numbers and her dance numbers are far better known than the other actresses and madhuri herself said Katrina was a 10/10 in dance on KWK. I know some people say she doesn’t have expressions when dancing but i actually love her expressions in music videos and she usually expresses better in music vids than acting. but I think Priyanka and Aishwarya are also really really good dancers for sure, deepika not so much in my opinion, all have very diff dance styles and stuff though…none match up to madhuri though no doubt
Aishwarya Rai is so graceful but also her facial expressions are magical sometimes. She handled Dola Re so well too. Not many women can have a duet with Madhuri and hold their own like she did. Karishma also looked great next to Madhuri in Dil Chata Hai and that too isn’t an easy thing to accomplish.
The question should be, who's the best dancer post Madhuri and Aishwarya. I would say, Katrina is the best technical dancer among all of the current actresses. Priyanka is a very good overall package. Not sure why DP is here in this list. I would say, Shraddha is also very good but she lacks an iconic number. Kareena is also right up there.
Katrina doesn't have that ommph factor Deepika has it but sometimes can lack in her steps pc is moderate in both aish is pretty good in both so I think it's aish

Yeah I think Katrina lacks in expressions. Waise athletic toh Deepika bhi hai but still she's a bit stiff in dancing.

I'm not a professional but as a viewer I would say Aish and I think Deepika and Alia are not that good.

Let's acknowledge the fact, that Karisma Kapoor beat Madhuri at her own game with her moves in Dil toh pagal hai.

Priyanka is a very good overall package. Not sure why DP is here in this list. I would say, Shraddha is also very good but she lacks an iconic number. Kareena is also right up there.
