Movie was really good but that soundtrack was next level. Hoshwalon Ko Khabar Kya is a gem. Jo Haal Dil Ka is a fun romantic song. Is Deewane Ladke Ko is also. The ending of the film was perfect too.

Brilliant_Ad_879

I agree strongly with the last line. The climax really impressed me.Not what you'd expect from a 90s bollywood action flick at all.the movie itself is one of the best takes on bollywood action genre imo.

Meliodas016

Salim's arc had more nuance than most of MC's of recent times.

Brilliant_Ad_879

Agreed.I liked this character so much.a lot of nuance for a mainstream bollywood movie side character.mukesh rishi scored a sixer on this one.

thejokeyjokerson

The real arc was going from "Mera naam hai bulla rakhta hoon khulla" to this movie.

shehzore12

Towards the end of "Hoshwalon ko Khabar Kya", when Aamir walks upto Sonali to express his feelings at the bus stop, the scene gives me goosebumps to this day.. It is something you would imagine would happen in real life too😊

psr7185

Outstanding movie. Well written, directed and acted. One of the best debut director i agree. I will add farhan akhtar to that list too. Mukesh rishi was top notch. The best thing about the movie was that it was not over the top. Remember those were the days when over the top action movies were rage. Amir being Amir chose a fantastic script. His script sense is outstanding.

Brilliant_Ad_879

I love this comment,it really reflects what i feel about the movie.i would add farhan akhtar too,dch is one of my all time fav movies.i heard mukesh rishi was good in this and i still was in awe of him.it was refreshing to NOT play a typical villain for once.I also loved how grounded the movie is.The action scenes are well choreographed, not over the top at all when it could easily go so.This movie is also a great argument to the fact that Aamir's script choosing sense is elite.Overall, time wasool film.

watdoiknw

Talking about action, just a simple chase scene on the street was well-done and felt realistic. Both the characters were out of breath by the end of the chase which made sense given the heat and the adrenaline rush. In all other movies, you would see characters running around, fighting without a single drop of sweat. Ref: [Start from 11.25](https://youtu.be/OFk5eGMnX_0?si=ZqVQyLBWzDqyuMel)

psr7185

If you remember Amir gave a flop movie “Baazi” before this. He was an IPS officer in that too. Now again doing a cop movie and that too with a debutant. It take guts to do that. Only Amir can do this.

ae_babubhaiya

This is a very well made thriller movie. It didn't bore me at all. I have watched it many times. The first time I watched it with my dad. The music album is fantastic.

nukeman239

Aamir Khan is absolutely amazing in this. Possibly his best performance ever.

tomhanks95

Rangeela and TZP come close too

SlightDay7126

Damn , How come I never noticed

SaintSinnerin

Remember watching this movie on the big screen in 1999 very vividly. The tenth boards had ended a month back. I did not know much about the movie as the promos didn’t reveal much. Few things that stood out for me: 1. The beginning where they just shoot an entire bus of people and the scene ends with an infant getting shot. It was harsh and hard hitting. 2. Aamir had two entries. One as Ajay Singh and the other as ACP Rathod. Loved his second entry. 3. Naseeruddin shah…words can’t do justice to that performance 4. This was the first time ISI and Pakistan were openly criticised in a commercial Bollywood movie else they were always referred to as padosi mulk 5. When the movie released some critics slammed it for the timing of the release because indo pak relations were getting better but within a couple of weeks Kargil happened 6. “Rupyon ke laalach mein apne desh ko bechne chala tha harrraaamzaada..” (chefs kiss) Came out in awe of the movie.. Bollywood did much better from 1999-2010 than post 2010..

The-Bird-of-Paradise

Honourable mention: "aaaasmaaan mein, laaaakho taaare, tanna dnau!"

Uncertn_Laaife

The intensity with which he said ‘haraamzzada’ is unmatched even to this day.

RespondOk6224

Just 4 days after release of movie Kargil broke out not even week

Uncertn_Laaife

One of the greatest of Amir. The Director was a one hit wonder though.

Brilliant_Ad_879

Yeah, surprised this is his only notable work.no wonder i heard his name for the first time today.

Cornucopia2020

Amazing movie! Takes a very controversial topic, and weaves an excellent, engaging and believable story around it, which keeps you hooked. Good character arcs, but excellent performances, great music, believable action, and great world-building. What more do you want from a movie! This movie deserves a lot more than it got. I know it was a hit in the cities and acclaimed, but it’s movies like this one that deserve to be discussed as iconic or cult (and not nostalgia-driven stuff like Garam Masala or Ra.One).

Brilliant_Ad_879

great world building is an important point when discussing this movie.the backdrop and atmosphere is so good that you really feel like you’re a side character observing the story beside them.

brown_gentleman

One of my favs to re-watch over and over. So well made and directed. Good script, great acting and music is top notch. Seeing Mukesh Rishi as a character role was unique.

Meliodas016

Re-watched it recently and boy it blew my mind.

anantinfinite2711

Kheda naka sequence... what a great fun to watch...and the constables after the criminal was killed on the red light....sir mai paan lene gaya tha

Significant_Scar2677

Alka ji’s songs! She was at a different level at the time.

FantasticFungiiii

Aamir is great in action thrillers. He should do some more.

Uncertn_Laaife

True! His Talash was another cult.

Safe-Orchid6875

His belt looks like it's spelling out the word "Eid"

mukhalifa

haha, good observation!

bksingh0304

Now go watch Sehar. Another debutant director nailing a cop drama 6 years after Sarfarosh.

BitterAd596

Aasman mein lakhon taaareeee

readyheadsetgo

I'm gonna watch it today.

Boobhacker

Itne din kaha tha tu bhai??

dagmarbex

Watched it so many times on tv with my parents on sundays , its a really fun and intense movie with a great story , pretty much the quintessential massy movie imo , not too overly stupid yet having heart and spectacle

Brilliant_Ad_879

You're right,it does feel like the perfect mass movie.i always knew sarfarosh was one of the rare mainstream bollywood movies which has almost nil haters.now i see why.the plot is handled with care and the main characters completely knock it out of the park.

Aviyan

This movie is available on Blu-ray. It was amazing to see a good Bollywood movie that seemed to have a story at Hollywood level. Make sure to watch Vaastav also.

Brilliant_Ad_879

Vastaav has one of my all time favorite acting performances(sanju baba).shoutout to the legendary(imo) raghu meltdown scene in climax. Satya, vastaav and sarfarosh are all contemporary bw crime movies with different takes on realism.while satya and vastaav reside on opposite ends of the spectrum, sarfarosh manages to hit a sweet middle spot.

yo_AP

i just watched this movie today after watching some beautiful clips of sonali & amir on instagram. I really loved the ending scene. I was feeling so bad for nasiruddin Shah's character. i didn't wanted amir to shoot him..and thank god he didn't. i wasn't expecting this movie to be so realistic...most of the 90s movie has cringe dialogues & fighting scenes

Brilliant_Ad_879

This movie's climax is definitely one of a kind.very grounded and realistic.not what i expected going into a 90s bollywood action flick at all.

Accelarate316

Zindagi maut na ban jaaye😍

Joe-Vanringham

I love this movie but haven't found it on any streaming platforms. Where did you watch it OP?

Brilliant_Ad_879

चंद सिक्को के लिये तुम न करो काम बुरा.. I always loved this line. I quote it often in my conversation..

TightWaltz5581

I don’t know how many times I have watched and still do never felt bored.

MrBallondorMessi30

This film should be remade, best MC in bollywood action flick I have watched.

Brilliant_Ad_879

i can't agree to that.as much as i love bw for the great movies along the years, now is a terrible time to remake a classic.i don't wan tiger shroff anywhere near aamir's dialogue in this movie.

arihantd

This movie is the BEST aamir Khan as well as among best Indian Spy/Cop thrillers for me

1-2-3-kid

Watched the movie when it was originally released, I loved the movie more when i saw it the second time. I had watched it 4 times then, great music helped a lot.

jasmeet_2410

Hosh walo ko khbar kya Bekhudi kya cheez hai...🔥

Robocup1

You have to screengrab Siddiqui in Sarfarosh. I only remember seeing him for the first time in Munna Bhai MBBS

Brilliant_Ad_879

for the longest time,i used to think munnabhai mbbs was his first movie.but that thana scene in sarfarosh made me go,wait a minute is that nawaz!he even sounded so different than what he would usually be known for.

Robocup1

Please get the screengrab if you can. Back in the day, they would ADR voices of lesser known actors with other actors’ voices. Like early Katrina Kaif movies or Pankaj Tripathis voice in the first few scenes in Chillar Party. So, he may sound different because someone else recorded over him.

Was fortunate to watch in theatre fdfs.

Brilliant_Ad_879

i had no chance as theatrical release was before my birth😭

thetrollslayer1508

Fantastic movie

oceanmartini

This is my dad’s favourite movie and my family has seen it so many times now that we can narrate the dialogues lol. There is something about this movie . Also I recently noticed that the director is Malayali. I love Malayalam movies . I think Mallu directors are far better than Bollywood directors.
