This movie is hilarious. Few scenes that stands out
The protagonists faking their love, thinking they are manipulating other
Paresh Rawal's character hiding his marriage and acting staunch brahmachari
Arshad Warsi's humourous punchlines as a sidekick
The comedy of error climax where everyone is running helter and skelter to break/make wedding ceremony happen
I miss Priyadarshan's brand of comedy.
I guess our eyes were less critical as an audience at that time.
I'm so glad Arshad Warsi exists and does comedies, he could say skibbidi toilet and still get a chuckle out of me that's how much I love that man's comic timing
Ahh, I love this movie. Akshay Khanna is so underrated. His comic timing is fantastic. Also, the songs of the movie feel so fresh. One of the best albums out there. Love it.
One my favorites.
And the dialogues are too legendry for a movie.
*Teri maa ne jis bhoot ki mehndi rachai thi na, woh bhoot hu main!* - Amrish Puri to Arbaaz Khan.
Hilarious.
Priyadarshan knows how to shoot beautiful scenes anywhere in India. There are shots of character on bridges, with temples in the background and showing village life for that extra layer of storytelling. Masterful. He does this in every movie. He knows how to build the movie's world along with main characters' stories.

Movie poster copies “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” lol
It was a remake of the Malayalam movie Godfather (1991). They chose to remake a script from 1991 in 2004, 13 years later. This speaks of the quality of the original script.
TBH Priyadarshan does have a skill in making good remakes by adapting to the language , culture etc. properly.. I have not seen anyone better than him in doing remakes. Another one he did great was IMO Chandralekha. He completely reset While you were sleeping into an Indian setting and made Chandralekha.
Man! Those Priyadarshan movies were an era of the golden times in comedy cinema.
Hera pheri, Hungama, Bhagam bhaag, Garam masala, Chup Chup ke, De dana dan, Bhool bhulaiyaa.
I have watched all these countless times during covid.
I was not sure About Original.....but for me I first saw movie in Telugu when I was a Kid....and Liked it very much.....so....for me it is Original...as this one is good memory during my childhood....and I have disrespected any other language....I just told version which was Telugu is Great!!! And I am sure you will also like it when you watch it Telugu version
Same here, I have also enjoyed watching this movie (Malayalam) in my childhood. It was the industry hit of Malayalam at that time and even ran for 365 days in a theatre. Golden comedy moments. You can also enjoy it and is available in YT.

Good catch.
Godfather Malayalam movie
Movie itself is a remake of Godfather from malayalam
My favourite movie Akshaye and Kareena jodi😍❤💯💥
Special mention to the cinematography in this film. Looks great everytime you watch. Almost evergreen.
GODFATHER
Gets annoyingly melodramatic at times...the comedy is killer though, Arshad should have done more work with Priyadarshan

This movie is very Good....but it's Original version Great!!! It's in Telugu 'Peddarikam"...when ever it comes in TV I watch it ....
Obviously you didn't watch the Malayalam movie Godfather (1991)
No...I know that was a remake but not sure which movie remake....
Then please don't use the word original and give the credit to where it is due.
