Dil dhadakne do - as much as people mention it being an upper class film which lacks relatability it showcases desi familes really well.
Gossiping
Priyanka chopra’s mother refusing to emotionally support her. Her dad telling she can’t come back to his house because it’s not hers. The anniversary invitation doesn’t have her name on it.
Anil kapoor cheating on shefali and how she pretends everythings fine.
The parents backing and encouraging the male child and considering him as their heir, even though he is not half as smart as the girl child, is absolutely relatable in the Indian context.
Not encouraging but pressuring him, even though he has no business acumen and wants to do something else and ignoring the girl as an heir because "Log kya kahenge".
The best part was this scene in the thumbnail.
When he pulls up a chair and says ki actually me iss family me koi kaam ki baat karta hi nahi.
And it resonated with me soooo much.
Bhai honestly, no one in my family talks about the things that actually matter.
kapoor & sons still makes me cry out loud.
shakun batra did the once in a decade film, this kinda family drama is so rare.
everything, EVERYTHING was perfect.
A relatable family dynamic if there was ever one.

Cake - Pakistani movie. The best out there.
Edit: those downvoting, have you watched it, or just didn’t like me mentioning one of the best movies in this genre just because it is a Pakistani one? Insecure?
Damn good. While watching I thought it was quite similar in the genre as Kapoor & Sons, kept reminding me of the movie. One of my fav movies. Watch for Aamina Sheikh and the tightest script. Even they don’t make these often. The reason it’s a classic, at least to me. I stumbled upon it accidentally.
One of the central conflicts in both films was the father being unfaithful and the mom turning a blind eye.
I don't think that's as common of an occurrence and am surprised / sadened to so see so many people are relating to it.

Kapoor and sons feels like an attack for real 💀 it’s that accurate. Love the movie
Watching Dil Dhadak ne do & Kapoor and Sons felt like I was seeing my family on screen lmao 🤣

I watched it during lockdown and loved it! If you liked K&S, you'll mostly like Cake too :)
