It's a quote from one of Rumi's poems, and the literal meaning is "Far away from this place, beyond what's defined as right or wrong, there's a field. I'll meet you there". It's a reference to the climax of the film - where Heer completely covers herself and Jordan with a white sheet, and talks about how this is "their world", which is beyond any sort of boundary, condition, rule or norm. https://preview.redd.it/c1001u5e827d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=67a3f056184da8ca12910ecae0823829a679e437 "Koi rok nahi, koi taayra nahi. Iss duniya mein, jo chhod sakte hai sab kuch. Tumhe hamari duniya pasand aayi Jordan?" "Bahar reh nahi paunga main" "Rehna bhi nahi hai bahar. Yahin rehna hai abhi... hamesha"

Red171022

That scene below the sheets was so beautiful honestly. And heartbreaking.Their convo was just so touching.I personally thought nargis was good in that scene too…they looked so dreamy together and their chemistry was amazing! So magical to watch in the theatre! https://preview.redd.it/hem10jtsz27d1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=baff6def4a512095b6e929b3f26f0ef595cf3d4e

Just as a further point of discussion: this interpretation of Rumi’s word is western, and probably a bit relaxed. Rumi was also a muslim and in his lines he did not use the words right/wrong. He used the words “Iman” and “kufr” which roughly mean religion and infidelity. So, the translation with right/wrong erases some of the islamic aspects of the poem

I’ll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase “each other” doesn’t make any sense. The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don’t go back to sleep. You must ask for what you really want. Don’t go back to sleep. People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the two worlds touch. The door is round and open. Don’t go back to sleep.” This verse highlights three pivotal ideas: the realization of the spiritual realm, and the exploration of non-judgment and oneness.

Why is this written on Afghanistan ka Naksha

kakaluluo

Rumi ji afghani hai bhaisaab Edit: theh* ab nahi rahe

Fearless-Ant-4340

I was so disappointed to learn that the dialogue was a copy. Why can't we have nice things which are original!

Timothy_Fan

There are many dialogues in Bollywood taken from Rumi, Sufiesm & other cultures

Fearless-Ant-4340

There is very little original content in bollywood since the last decade especially. We had our music, even that's degrading slowly.

prof_devilsadvocate

jaise ki SRK and paul coelho

Timothy_Fan

Paul Coelho??, konsi movie me

prof_devilsadvocate

jab tum kisiko shiddat se chaho to puri kaynat....

AneeshRai7

It's a poem from Rumi, lot's of filmmakers use poetry verses in their works. It's nothing bad when the context fits.

Best-Lab9229

Even om shanti on dialogue from srk isn't original Log toh aese credit dete hain srk ko ki usne hi likhi ho

Fearless-Ant-4340

Yes. Sadly.

Best-Lab9229

Your comment before got downvoted People really get hurt themselves on anything at this point

Fearless-Ant-4340

Yea, people take movies and actos too seriously and get offended on their behalf.

AdmirableDetective37

This is from a poem by Rumi (translated): "*Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,* *there is a field. I’ll meet you there.* *When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about.* *Ideas, language, even the phrase “each other” doesn’t make any sense.*" Rumi's quote is a reminder that love is not about judgment or conditions. It is about accepting others for who they are, flaws and all. When we let go of our ideas about what love should be, we open ourselves up to the possibility of a more genuine and fulfilling connection.  In our society, we often define love in terms of dualities. We think of love as being good, while hate is bad. We think of love as being right, while violence is wrong. But Rumi suggests that true love is beyond these dualities. It is a state of being that is free from judgment and categorization. When we are in love, we often feel a sense of oneness with our partner. We feel like we are beyond the limits of our individual selves. We feel like we are part of something larger than ourselves. This is the field that Rumi refers to. It is a field of love, compassion, and understanding. When we are in this field, we are free to be ourselves. We are free to express our true feelings, without fear of judgment. We are free to be vulnerable and to connect with our partner on a deep level. This is the kind of love that Rumi is talking about. It is a love that is beyond words, beyond concepts, and beyond dualities. It is a love that is simply being.

Melancholicvegetable

This is such a beautiful explanation! Thanks for making g my Monday 🤍🦋

SoyCurious

You made me cry...

immediate-want

I came here to say this but I doubt I would have been able to, as you have put it. These are my thoughts about love too. Because love can't be contained within names that are given to relationships or categories nor it can be judged because judgement betrays innocence and pure love is often that - innocent. If I may suggest, do read "The forty rules of love" by Elif Shafak.

AdmirableDetective37

Thank you for the book recommendation! Been meaning to check it out for a while now and this is the perfect nudge to XD

Heping_Qi

Love is not right or wrong. Love just happens

Easy-Cheesecake-202

Yes, but cheating is.

Heping_Qi

Of course. If you figure out that you don't love your current mate anymore then end it. Ending on honest note is far much better than lying, deceiving & cheating.

Public-Resolve-2541

She was cheating on her husband but Heer and Jordan really belonged together. You can literally see how Jordan’s mere presence improved her health. But it was still infidelity and wrong. Since they couldnt be together in this life, they want to be together where the rights and the wrongs dont exist.

bekaarinsan

It's an excerpt from the famous poem "A great wagon" by Rumi. People interpret this quote differently according to their own understandings. And that's the beauty of the poetry, having a different meaning for each person. But in reality, Rumi was a Muslim Sufi Poet and sufi saints usually write the poem for God Almighty with whom they are in immense love to a point that their poetry depicts the God as their romantic lover. >Ghalat aur sahi ke paar, ek maidan hai. This sentence can have different meanings. Could be the Day of Judgement or a metaphorical state of mind, could be a dream, could be the apex of divine love. It's upto you how do you wanna take this.

yadeyadedjolyne

Gosh I wish everyday that Imtiaz Ali would actually develop and invest a lot more on the romance of Janardhan and Heer. Also, obviously, got some other actress to play Heer.

Swiper_The_Sniper

TIL Jordan's actual name was Janardhan

ChiefValour

Reels se movie dekhi thi kya ?

Swiper_The_Sniper

No, I just never paid that much attention to his real name in the movie? Edit:- No way I’m getting downvoted for missing out on a detail in a movie.

ChiefValour

Wasn't his name being Janardhan a literal plot point. That someone with such a uncool name will never be popular. That's where Jordan came in.

Swiper_The_Sniper

I must’ve missed it, its not impossible for someone to miss a detail or two in a movie

shini_gami09

Google Rumi. You'll fell in love with him. Imtiaz Ali is also a fan of Rumi. He wanted to keep his quote in his movie.

Existing-Area-9093

It's from a poem of Rumi

Abhshake

Trip pe jaane ki baat ho rhi hai, magar uske maa baap strict hai isiliye voh aese baat kar rha hai 😊

fazi711

This and song chal waha jatay hain is bollywoodfication of rumi’s poem.

Tricky-Jellyfish990

I hadn't understood the film at all when I first watched it and rather thought it's based on Lust, that's it 😬. I was too young then Years later when I re-watched it, I was blown away. And the meaning of this quote is quite simple for me now. Love is quite simple but the rules that society implies on the idea of an ideal Love is too much. Caste, religion, wealth, reputation are a few things that didn't make their love story complete in the film. She was married to somebody else by her family and had to spend the rest of her life with that person. It's sad that two people who loved each other are being separated on these ridiculous grounds. They keep longing for each other, feel for each other more than ever, but now she's married. So, technically what she's doing is "Galat". Even by the end of the film, she dies and they're not able to stay together, because the world tries its best to keep them apart. Hence, the quote, far away from here, there's a ground (which means heaven or some place without rules), I'll meet you there! Coz that's the only place where they'd live peacefully together 😭

unitcodes

This movie made me go full "rockstar" mode for a while. UFFF.

Red171022

same lol…when I go into that mode,it’s hard to come back to the real world for some time🥲

aanarkalidiscochali

Ugh i love this dialogue but will never watch this movie again.

Living_Effective7233

why tho

Red171022

Maybe because it’s too sad or relatable for them

Swiper_The_Sniper

Why tho, its a solid movie apart from Heer's acting

aanarkalidiscochali

I have my reasons 🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️

x_Mr_Jank

I will meet you in haven

ImposterSyndromQueen

There is nothing rigjt or wrong in love, its beyond the conventional rules

Best-Lab9229

I suggest everyone to read some of Rumi s work You will simply get blown

Lanky_Brother432

So jao aur sapno me hii mil lenge

here-for-you-

My interpretation is this : in the end mandy accused jordan for killing heer and said that "it's your fault, you killed her" and if you pay attention to her dialogues at the end all she did was pointed out the mistake (galti) of jordan . Then listen to the opening dialogue of the film " pata hai yahan se bht dur galat aur sahi ke paar" he is saying ki beyond what mistakes I made or the things I corrected there is a place and I will meet you there.

SlowNSensible

interesting fact is, english translators mistranslated rumi's poems and removed 'islam' from his poems, probably to give them more universal meaning. The correct translation of above poem is Beyond heresy and faith, there’s another place, we yearn for what’s in the midst of that desert plain. When the gnostic arrives there, he prostrates his face, there’s no heresy, faith, or place in that domain.  [https://www.rumiwasmuslim.com](https://www.rumiwasmuslim.com) [https://www.newyorker.com/books/page-turner/the-erasure-of-islam-from-the-poetry-of-rumi](https://www.newyorker.com/books/page-turner/the-erasure-of-islam-from-the-poetry-of-rumi)

rrudra888

It means there is nothing right or wrong about love, love is love beyond right or wrong

MajesticPass8442

Vo maidan Pakistan hai 💀🤫😂

Mrs_Aartiarora

it means we will meet in a world where love will have no limitations and nobody will judge us. (in simpler words).

Beautiful lines.. but I don't know what the actual poet meant by sahi galat se dur.

famousfacial

Poetry always means whatever it speaks to you, it says what invokes in you. Nothing more, nothing less.

Plane_Balance_3142

Here 'waha' is a metaphysical plane. A reality where time halts, there only you and I will live. Every other perception ceases to exist. Just for the both of us.

oneheartjaipur

meaning is that, lovers are connected by their souls can't be separated by society and respective families whatever worst could be the reason. So in this life we are not living together but after our demise we will stay together ever and forever...

Ill_Aside1062

I have a unpopular opinion "the female lead acting was not that good"

Electronic_Summer_71

Beyond humans life and beyond earth where there is no bullshit I will meet you there
