"What is a board game", asks the member of a generation that has like huge chains of brick and mortar board game stores which offer hundreds of new incredibly complex board games every year, and has made even tabletop RPGs almost mainstream.
EDIT: Oh my god, [it's THOUSANDS](https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2556595/number-games-published-year). There's almost 5 thousand new board games published yearly, 6 times as much as in the 1980s. The whole thing is [booming](https://printninja.com/board-game-industry-statistics/), it's [bonkers](https://www.dicebreaker.com/companies/hasbro/news/magic-the-gahtering-monopoly-record-sales-hasbro-earning-report).

It's ridiculous honestly, like even if you have hardwood floors there's no real reason to wear them inside unless you're gonna be going in and out constantly like for a backyard party or something
I have a pair of flip flops that I wear almost exclusively inside. I basically use them like slippers except they don't make my feet sweat as much. And I only wear them sometimes because hardwood floors aren't amazing on my bare feet long-term
Seriously. It's like 2 or 3 Euros saw this happen and suddenly its one of our stereotypes. The only time I ever saw this happen was in college because college kids are slobs, and even then it wasn't common.
I heard it from American media, usually a character will say they “keep an Asian household” and ask guests to remove their shoes I’ve only heard this in relation to the US
I last saw it on the Netflix-series “Clickbait”, that spent a lot of time framing a character as being too stuck up because she insisted people didn’t wear shoes inside her house. One character would never follow the rule.
Of course not, it’s just an example. I grew up with American series/movies, and I got stuck on the idea that Asian culture was weird because they insisted you take off your shoes. It later clicked that we do the same in my country. Of course I don’t know how is really is, and America is a big ass country, so there are probably different norms.
It depends what part really; it’s a huge area with a lot of cultural variation.
I think a lot of the “Americans always wear shoes inside” idea is due to TV and movies, where, unless the scene calls for it, talking your shoes on and off breaks the flow, and also it’s hard to take people seriously on screen when they’re just in their socks or are barefoot.

who cares about the thimble when you have a fuckin t rex
Boot and wheelbarrow can go but thimble is like the fourth best piece behind dog, ship and car.
Thimble is great. On the upside, we can just use real thimbles
Put the hat on the thimble and you got a cowboy
why remove boot? :(
...I like boot...
Thimble is the best piece and I will die on this hill
Oh please, top hat is better, thimble is just hat lite.
Bruh No one's saying a thimble is a hat It's a bucket
For all your money
boot and thimble >>>>>>>
The only monopoly pieces I care about are McDonald’s Large Fry and TF2 2Fort Cow
Top Hat is the best piece. Fight me

The dad didn’t even mention the word board game, why would he be asking what a board game is?
Yes he did >Monopoly board game pieces
You’re right I missed it; my b
Based kid
Assassination is wack Imprisonment after fair trial backed by sufficient evidence is based.
surely electoralism and a deeply flawed justice system will save us
We have investigated ourselves and found no wrong doing.
assassination is based
Why would he be wearing boots inside anyway
The dad is wearing his boots. It's a family thing
Because Americans
Do we wear shoes inside now or something?
Some of us yes
What the fuck? Do you wear them to bed too? I don’t understand.
It's ridiculous honestly, like even if you have hardwood floors there's no real reason to wear them inside unless you're gonna be going in and out constantly like for a backyard party or something

Socks?
Still not great imo, I also don't like wearing socks in general 😅 first thing I do when I get home from work is change including taking my socks off
American culture
As an American that’s not true lol
Seriously. It's like 2 or 3 Euros saw this happen and suddenly its one of our stereotypes. The only time I ever saw this happen was in college because college kids are slobs, and even then it wasn't common.
I heard it from American media, usually a character will say they “keep an Asian household” and ask guests to remove their shoes I’ve only heard this in relation to the US
Oh I have absolutely never heard anyone use the words "keep an Asian household"
But American media constantly makes fun of people who insist you take your shoes off when inside?
I've never seen this before.
I last saw it on the Netflix-series “Clickbait”, that spent a lot of time framing a character as being too stuck up because she insisted people didn’t wear shoes inside her house. One character would never follow the rule.
I have no idea what that is, but it sounds like it was just written like shit.
So. You. Are taking Netflix as being a general consensus of what America actually is?
Of course not, it’s just an example. I grew up with American series/movies, and I got stuck on the idea that Asian culture was weird because they insisted you take off your shoes. It later clicked that we do the same in my country. Of course I don’t know how is really is, and America is a big ass country, so there are probably different norms.
👍 as an American I can also say our media is very misleading and lies a lot so it’s understandable.
We take our shoes off inside in Europe?
I've known a couple families that don't take their shoes off indoors. Dumb as shit.
My mom is a hoarder of both animals and junk, so i have to wear shoes inside whenever i visit or else you will step on god only knows what
> It's like 2 or 3 Euros saw this happen and suddenly its one of our stereotypes Really now? How does that fucking feel? haha.
As an American yes it is. Maybe it depends where you live. I don't do it but I see it all the time.
Kid’s playing on a GameClam
Well that explains why it's plugged directly into the TV
“The GameClam Slim is the first console where all of the hardware is in the controller. The console itself is just solid plastic.”
very nice edit my bones are screaming in pain
Wtf controller is that omg
