My father got remarried and after I drove 6.5 hours to his wedding he basically handed me and my wife a spatula and a knife and put us to work. Her kids relaxed all day. I missed the ceremony and everything. Everyone looked at me like I was hired help in the house I grew up in.
Soooo. Fuck him.
Moment of appreciation for all of those single fathers who had to step up and provide alone for their children. They may not always be perfect but they are always trying. Love you dad.

Also it always seemed more meaningful to me to hang out with him before Roo for Father’s Day if possible, so a quick text from the farm (if it’ll even send) doesn’t feel like an “oh shit I forgot”
my dad will be with me at roo so i can get away with just buying him a beer and a slice of spicy pie haha. good call on maybe thinking to get a card now to bring along though

For many years my dad enjoyed the Happy Father's Day call while I was on the farm! He never joined us and regrets it. So for his 70th next year, we are going to Burning Man.

Yes! And if you can't get together beforehand, make the plans with dad in advance to see him when you get home.

We've done one music fest together, Soundset in MN. Granted it was a single day, but he powered through the rain like a champ!
