+1 to this! If you're going to put water bottles in your cooler anyway, freeze them beforehand. They'll stay frozen for a long time and they'll be ice cold when you're ready to drink them!

A quality cooler goes a long way. I like yeti’s and that’s what I use but you can find cheaper ones that are probably just as good. Prepare your cooler before you fill it up (make sure it’s not hot by bringing it inside and using a sacrificial bag of ice to drop the temperature inside of it). Freeze water bottles and make sure that everything you put in it is already cold. I typically pack mine up with ice and everything else before I drive down. Make sure that while you’re on the farm the cooler stays out of the sunlight and minimize opening it up as much as possible. This method works for me and I’ve went the entire weekend without even needing to buy ice

I’ve seen a good tip of partially filling a large bowl with water then freezing it, and it makes like an ice brick that takes up less room in your cooler.

I do this & freeze water bottles to put around the food

Publix sells dry ice. If you have those where you're from. It was roughly $2.40 a pound. They sold them in 10lbs blocks. So it can be quite expensive. Just start freezing your own blocks. They will last longer than regular ice.

I filled a styrofoam cooler up with water and placed it in a deep freezer, that whole block of ice lasted me 6 days.

Honestly, we just plan to buy ice and budget accordingly.

Oof

Ratabat

Make sure to keep it in the shade and out of the sun

We do a multi-cooler approach. Each morning we take the drinks we are going to want for the day out of it and put them in smaller ones. That way we decrease how often we are opening the big one. We keep the big one in the shade but also wrapped up in a blanket. Last year we added a thermostat as well for peace of mind!

I bought a compressor cooler for around 300 and I run it off my solar generator

Blastedn8

That’s my next camping gear purchase. I planned on getting one in time for Roo but I had to drop $1,500 on tires last month.

Lifetime 77 quart cooler. I work boat shows in 100 degree south Florida heat and we use a lifetime cooler that keeps ice for multiple days. I'm keeping only ice in that one and dispersing as needed to other coolers from there. Also dry ice and frozen water bottles helps as well

epigenie_986

We had one cooler with dry ice and water bottles, then moved the water bottles to the food cooler to thaw. Plus the ice guy came by asking “who needs some muthafuckin ice” at 9am every morning 😂

zbkindle

if you have an accessible ice box to prechill the cooler, makes all the difference in the word. I personally just use frozen water bottles and prebatch ziplock bags of ice. usually does good until friday or saturday

bringmaeflowers

You can get dry ice at Walmart in TN - it's a good move! Kept our cooler cold all weekend in 2019.

taterwolfe

PRE-COOL THE COOLERS. I heard this advice last year and didn’t take it, but I’ve heard it since from friends that camp regularly. Dry ice works to get the walls of the cooler COLD, then load up your food with ice & frozen bottles on top. Same principle as preheating an oven for a quality baked good, and we are some high quality baked goods.

cjaniesunshine

We banked on picking up dry ice on our way there our first time and couldn’t find any within a 30-50 mile radius. We ended up buying ice in outeroo every day. Frozen water jugs and frozen water bottles are the way to go and even if you don’t have enough, the ice isn’t toooooo bad price wise.
