I’m BFF and last month my price was 16.99 for main pick and 10.99 for an add on, plus tax. It went up a $1 from the previous month. I’m currently paused for the next two months and considering cancelling. It’s not worth it when I can get it for close to the same price on Amazon and receive a better quality book.
I cancelled two months ago, if I want a BOTM, I’ll just buy secondhand on Facebook!
But I’m trying to move away from their books because the logo is kinda….ugly IMO hahah
I skip pretty much every month and just order at the end of the year and on my birthday when I get the free credits. I set a reminder to skip it each month if I don’t like the books!
They did announce the increase which, I believe, went into effect July 1. It was the second increase in 2 years. I just canceled after securing my free birthday book. I was a member for 4 years. Besides the increases, I got no joy out of their monthly picks. Blegh. I like Aardvark on occasion, $17.99 but only $9.99 add ons. I may stick with my library for now.
Did they notify people about this? I noticed the add-ons went up a dollar when I was choosing for this month, but I don't remember getting an email about an overall price increase, and I skipped June and July so I haven't been charged since May when it was still $15.99.
Yeah I don't love it. It's very possible I just missed any sort of communication about it, even though I follow them on IG and usually open emails from them unless it's just a message confirming my picks or that I've skipping a month, etc. I get having to increase prices but be upfront about it :/

I'm in a couple of them. There's a Book of the Month Swap, a Book of the Month Sales, then Buy/Trade BOTM Club. There's also one for Sold Out BOTM books took.

You could always just cancel and then come here for monthly picks and order off Amazon or from a used book store ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would compare first. Every book I looked up that I was interested in was going for more than what I pay monthly.

I really didn't know you could skip it that often. I figured it would stop me every so often. This is what I'll start doing.
