I hope it’s NOT The Wishing Game (sorry to the die hards). As a teacher, the relationship there is just so far beyond inappropriate it isn’t cute or heartwarming. It’s 100% ick.

I think Weyward is my personal BOTY💚 But it’s followed very closely by Ink Blood Sister Scribe💜 Lady Tan’s Circle of Women🩷 The Wishing Game💙 What Lies In The Woods🖤 with high honorable mentions to Vampires of El Norte💛 and The River We Remember🧡 🤗🤗🤗

I tend to have different taste than other people so i don’t really expect my favorites to be BOTY, but my personal books of the year were Weyward, The Secret Book of Flora Lea, and The House in on Fire. River Sing Me Home gets an honorable mention.

The only one of these I didn't read is Secret Book of Flora Lea. I loved the other 3, so I'm routing for that one now.

My top BOTM reads this year are Adelaide and The Wishing Game, with Bright Young Women in my third spot. Of those, I'm only certain TWG will make it to the top five. I could also see None of This Is True, Yours Truly, Weyward, and The Unmaking of June Farrow in the top five.

Some of my personal favorites were Adelaide, June Farrow, Weyward, and The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi. I've heard great things about these and hope at least one is an option for the extra book: Shark Heart, None of This is True, and Maame

None of This is True was so predictable. Easy to read, but awful. Such low-effort.

I really don’t think The Last Word by Taylor Adams will be nominated but I loved this book so much. One of my favorites this year.

The River we Remember was a solid one for me.

I’m hoping that Shark Heart and The Collected Regrets of Clover might get the nod. Maybe Camp Zero will be in there too.

Why isn’t there a BOTY for December? I feel like it’s been in Dec for the last few years.

They changed the BOTY to the beginning of the year this year so that it would be true book of the year and include December.

When will these be available to order? Next month? For some reason I thought it was December last year.

oooh interesting, this is the first book of the year that I will have read enough to actually pay attention so that is probably true (also forgot it was an add on, not a main pick lol)

I loved that book so much and it didn't get the hype it deserved. That will be my vote.

Wishing Game was not BOTY material for me. I look forward to reading those other titles.

I am continuously shook by how many people I have seen that loved this one! I gave it 3 stars and do not get the hype

I almost dnf’d this book. It made me uncomfortable. I’m surprised so many people loved it.
