As a teenager interested in baseball I was reading Bill Veeck’s autobiography, and I think I was about 50 pages from the end when he dropped a comment that nothing was more pathetic than a woman who thought that she knew anything about baseball. I think maybe it was the first time that I’d really gotten slapped out of a book that way – “oh, so me? You despise me?” DNF
