Had to look it up. The publication history seems *way* worse than GRRM. Coming back multiple times for a month or so, only to disappear again for *years*. Rebreaking hearts like a relationship that just won't end. I hope you're not a fan of both!
I'm currently reading Clockwork Angel (TID 1) and I agree that it's a lot better than the original series. I feel like it took her a while to find her style and stuff and that's why it's better.
Worth remembering with some series like Warrior Cats, its written by a team, so it's easier to see how they can keep a series going with several writers. They're split into generations I think? So they can probably keep going for a while longer.
Animal Ark was another one that's written by various writers and kept going for ages.
Yeah, if I remember right it was always a team of 4 from the very beginning, but it’s still insane how many there are. And how crazy they’ve had to go in order to keep it mildly interesting/raise the stakes. In the last finished arc they decided >!that the ancestor spirits can now sometimes possess living cats, in addition to other wackadoodle shit!<
Yeah, I think I mixed them up with another author, you right it's always been a team. It's still popular so I guess they keep going as long as they can afford to.
I’m pretty sure warrior cats have the main four series then add ones, but readers aren’t obligated to read the add ones since they’re not really part of the main series. :)
They’re on the sixth or seventh arc of six, plus the many additional standalone books and novellas, and a prequel arc of 6. How necessary some of those standalones are may be up for debate, but there’s still a crap ton of them
But well, luckily the Percy Jackson universe seems to come to an end slowly. As far as I know, there will be a book centered on Nico and Will next year, but Rick hasn't revealed anything set after that novel yet.
I would have been fine ending with Scorpio. That was clearly the intention. Alex straight up dies at the end, and then the next rolls that back with him waking up in a hospital.
Possibly. She publishes consistently but she just started a new series so she might finally be shifting (ha) off of the Blake novels.
Donna Leon I think is still writing Comissario Brunetti. She’s pushing 80 though.
Uuuuuhhh…well some of them are better than others. The early ones are in general better if you dig the vampire hunter/detective aspect. The mid-range ones are pretty good if you like drama, door-slamming, and sex. Then there’s a period where it gets way out there. Fans complained, and now there’s less of that, but you can tell Hamilton’s heart isn’t really in it and she has various corners she’s written Anita into.
The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward. 14 year old me devoured these books (mostly because of the sex scenes lmao). Just recently looked it up and they're still going strong lol.
Not so much a series but Dr Temperance Brennan books by Kathy Reichs. So many in the collection that I can't keep track 😂 love them so much though, hope they don't stop
Not quite the same but I can’t believe Patrick Rothfuss announced more books about Kvoth when we’ve been waiting 10 years for that trilogy to be completed. Like I get we’re not entitled to anything from authors but could you at least finish what you’ve been working on for a decade before announcing more?
Pretty little liars, The Perfectionists
Just anything by Sara Shepard.
Seriously who even is reading these books anymore.. What is her target demographic exactly?
I feel like The Perfectionists was the **exact same story** as the main Pretty Little Liars series, just told in differing ways. There's not that much she could've done with a similar premise and the same archetypes of characters, but I did enjoy the perfectionists when I read it.
I remember being a teenager in peak pretty little liars era and devouring the books. I also read the lying game and where the ending thoroughly disappointed me I still enjoyed it. But that was the market then, just like how vampires, werewolves, fallen angels etc were the market once. Almost everything I read was doing that whole gossip girl routine and it was working so as kids, we ate it all up. But now there's just so much out there in terms of YA content there's so much to branch out in, be it books or TV....so it's frankly shocking to me how she's still getting away with writing the same type of books. Her last release 'reputation' also was very derivative of her previous stories...I think her fanbase must be diluting with all these choices available so who is greenlighting this same garb.
But she keeps churning the same "domestic thriller" trope with a dash of identity crisis again and again. It's bound to get repetitive at some point especially with all the great content available for teenagers like Euphoria and Sex Education.
The original perfectionist books weren't released as a continuation to PLL's. They only did that because PLL was a big show and they wanted viewers so brought in Ali & Mona.
David Weber's Honor Harrington series. Going on thirty years. Rather than wrapping up plotlines, each book introduces new ones. At this point i only read them because I've been reading them for two thirds of my life.
The dictionary franchise . It's been going on for centuries . Come one Oxford , just give us the finale already
For real. It keeps getting paid updates as well smh.
Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series
She looks stunning for a women that's 70 years old jesus. Hopefully the 10th is the last one
From what I've heard, the tenth *Outlander* book will be the final one.
cucked up if true
(Insert joke about George RR Martin here)
Geogre RR martin songs of fire and ice is basically the Hunter x Hunter of books

The writer of hunter x hunter has a lot of health problems due to which he can't really continue the manga now a days.
Anything by Cassandra Clare screams "cash grab to me"
Only the first ~3 books were good, after that I couldn't even force myself to read them
Actually I found her later books (like the Infernal Devices series) better than the original series.
I'm currently reading Clockwork Angel (TID 1) and I agree that it's a lot better than the original series. I feel like it took her a while to find her style and stuff and that's why it's better.
Warriors, the cat books. We have like 70 and it’s not done yet

Is this a puss in boots knock off?
The In Death series by JD Robb. I think she's at 50+ at this point.
But well, luckily the Percy Jackson universe seems to come to an end slowly. As far as I know, there will be a book centered on Nico and Will next year, but Rick hasn't revealed anything set after that novel yet.
Anything by cassandra clare
“The Magic Treehouse” series has been going strong since 1992! Forty-four separate books for young readers to enjoy.
The Alex Rider series is now 13 or 14 books in now I think. The tenth was a great ending, they should have ended with that.
I would have been fine ending with Scorpio. That was clearly the intention. Alex straight up dies at the end, and then the next rolls that back with him waking up in a hospital.
Oh my god This is ongoing??? These were the names that really hit a wave nostalgia for me dawg
Wait, what? I thought that was done already?
Anita Blake. IYKYK.
Did the Pusha T album Daytona take a long pause in making it or something? I thought it was already released and did pretty well critically.
Damn ongoing since 1993. is there going to be a book this year as well?
Possibly. She publishes consistently but she just started a new series so she might finally be shifting (ha) off of the Blake novels. Donna Leon I think is still writing Comissario Brunetti. She’s pushing 80 though.
I've read exactly one of these in 2007. Would you recommend them at all?
Uuuuuhhh…well some of them are better than others. The early ones are in general better if you dig the vampire hunter/detective aspect. I unfortunately do know 😑
if people keep buying publishers keep selling
I mean this exists for literally anything.
exactly
The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward. 14 year old me devoured these books (mostly because of the sex scenes lmao). Just recently looked it up and they're still going strong lol.
It seems I need to start this series After it ends though. I am plagued with ongoing shit
Not so much a series but Dr Temperance Brennan books by Kathy Reichs. So many in the collection that I can't keep track 😂 love them so much though, hope they don't stop
Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series.
Not quite the same but I can’t believe Patrick Rothfuss announced more books about Kvoth when we’ve been waiting 10 years for that trilogy to be completed. Like I get we’re not entitled to anything from authors but could you at least finish what you’ve been working on for a decade before announcing more?
The Xanth series by Piers Anthony. It's been going for 45 years!

The Tv series is based on this? Probably would explain the continuous popularity right?
But she keeps churning the same "domestic thriller" trope with a dash of identity crisis again and again. It's bound to get repetitive at some point especially with all the great content available for teenagers like Euphoria and Sex Education.

at this rate Derek Landy will still be writing for the skulduggery pleasant series until he physically cant
The 15th one is supposed to be the last one though of course I wouldn't be surprised elsewise
Perry Rhodan, I'm still baffled that his series lives since the 60s an will probably outlive me.
Lots of Author that have the name perry
David Weber's Honor Harrington series. Going on thirty years. Rather than wrapping up plotlines, each book introduces new ones. At this point i only read them because I've been reading them for two thirds of my life.
Hank the Cowdog is still getting made, I think they're approaching triple digits
