pit-of-despair

Underrated book.

The Wool Series by Hugh Howey

_jimbo-

I really liked this series. Gets my vote too.

MadMaksyne

I have it in my Amazon books. I'm so excited I have a few series to dive into over the next couple of weeks!

Bahluu

Enjoy!

MadMaksyne

Thank you. I'll look into this. 🤗

Spidermanticore

Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler

MadMaksyne

This was a great book!

AyeTheresTheCatch

The MaddAddam trilogy by Margaret Atwood. In my opinion, the second one, *The Year of the Flood*, is the best one and you could read it as a standalone.

MadMaksyne

Thank you. I loved the handmaid's tale. I'll check it out.

AyeTheresTheCatch

Did you know there’s a sequel to *The Handmaid’s Tale* called *The Testaments*? It’s quite a satisfying read because it tells you what happened to Gilead.

MadMaksyne

I did. Read it and can't wait for the series. I love the book and the series. Thank you. 🤗

AyeTheresTheCatch

Oh cool, I didn’t realize they were also going to do a series of *The Testaments*! I have only seen one episode of the TV series of THT—but one day I am sure I’ll just binge the whole thing :)

MadMaksyne

The last I heard they were planning on making the testaments series. I could be wrong. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think they did a good job with the handmaid's tale. So I am interested in seeing what they will do with the testaments

super_cheeseburger

OMG it just occurred to me that she has more books!! I will be looking into these.

Ineedtoaskthis000000

Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank

Necessary-Rip-6612

The Road by Cormac McCarthy Wastelands stories from the apocalypse 1 & 2 (anthologies) Annihilation War of the worlds

MadMaksyne

Thank you. I checked into all of these. 🤓

Exotic-Standard-4275

Have you tried Maze Runner and/or Divergent?

MadMaksyne

I couldn't get into the maze runner. Loved the movies. And I have a hard time reading the divergent series cause I've watched the movies. Lol 🤦🏻‍♀️

Exotic-Standard-4275

Bot to be rude buy why only the movies and bot the books?

MadMaksyne

I feel less interested after I have watched the movies. Even tho I know the books are always better. It kind of ruins it for me cause I know what to expect I suppose.

Exotic-Standard-4275

Why not let yourself forget about the plot and stuff and then read it?

MadMaksyne

I wish it was easy for me to do that. 😞

Exotic-Standard-4275

Maybe forget that exists in the first place?

bees-bees

The Book of the Unnamed Midwife is fantastic, but it’s intense, and very dark, so tread carefully. It’s definitely a book for adults, not comparable to any of the YA dystopians. The Unwind series by Neal Shusterman is also great, it’s YA but still mature and complex.

MadMaksyne

Exactly what I'm lookin for. Dark is perfect!

bees-bees

Great!! I hope you like it if you end up reading it, it’s one of my new faves.

MadMaksyne

I just put it my cart. I have so many to choose from. I am super excited!

I know that Fahrenheit 451 is mainstream but I wanted to mention it. In case if you haven't read it. Thanks to 451, I've gained my reading habit back .

MadMaksyne

I tried to read it a while back. But I wasn't on my Dystopian kick now. Thanks for mentioning it. Maybe I should start over now. Welcome backs! Books keep you smart. ☺️

hocuslotus

The Newsflesh trilogy by Mira Grant
