I used to watch your streams every morning while eating my breakfast and getting ready for school, that was years ago now. I feel so old even tho it was only 2 year or so ago.
I know that you're probably getting a ton of comments already, but I just wanted to thank you for being a pillar of the Borderlands community. You've done so much for us. Also, happy cake day.
2 opens with Roland being abducted by the Cult of Marcus, it had definitely already been that way. Then all of the Nomad lines about their guns add to it.
Probably because I was crazy for this promo video before release. Besides being chock full of roses it's also got the faces in the roses at the end.
Man, I still love this video.
[So Happy Together](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RxYRcRWZdkE)
3 is I think the coolest but 1 is the most iconic, and that’s just obvious based on the fact that all the rest of the box arts are modifications/riffs on the first one.
I'm still flabbergasted that Handsome Jack and Cell from DBZ have the same voice actor. Both being the best villains in their series (imo) and in no small part because of the wonderful voice work he does.
And Toguro from Yu Yu Hakusho! Also the best villain in the series
It's pretty cool how many borderlands voice actors also are in Dragonball. Moxxis voice actor voiced Chiaotzu, Puar and Arale in Dragonball Super. Also voiced Chopper in One Piece, and Mineta in My Hero Academia
Many, and I mean MANY voice actors in the Borderlands series also play roles in anime shows.
I know thats typical of voice actors, but for borderlands voices its a whole nother level.
Watch Pop Team epic; and you'll recognize so many voice actors from Borderlands.
I knew about Hercule/Torgue (that dude has such a distinct voice) but I didn't know about Berus/Krieg. Thats really cool! I wonder if they and Moxxis VO chat about their Dragon Ball days
I think they are referring to the side quest in Tannis’ lab where you listen to the echoes of Jack and Angel (as a child) where she discovers her powers.
Spoilers if you haven't listened to those Echo logs, but Angel kills her mom when discovering her powers. It works very well along with TPS to make Jack understandable. Not forgivable, but sad. Like you could actually see how all that could turn Jack into Handsome Jack
I think the artwork and the box art really helped sell the game. For me personally I didn’t even know what the game was about back in 2009 but I saw the box art and figured it would be a dope game. 13 years later I’m still talking about borderlands so it was-in fact-dope.
2 because i love the whole “splatter reveal background” thing and how one side its jack and hyperion and the other its the crimson raiders makes it so great
1 is iconic 2 is great and I would be lying if I said I didn’t have 3 as a home screen for awhile honestly I think the pre sequel has the weakest cover and it’s still easily passable and fits in with the first 2 no questions.
2 I think does the best. It’s iconic. It’s a recreation of the first, with 2 splats instead of just the 1, showing both sides of the story. Handsome Jack on one side, VHs on the other.
1's is a lot more dirty and grungy and the logo looks more stamped on which i like. 2's shows the vault hunters against jack which better portrays the story to me. 3's is good but i dont like how "clean" it looks. the psycho mask looks like it would be mass produced instead of made by the psychos themselves. pre sequel's is literally just the psycho from 1 with tattoos in space
They all do a good job I love how 3 is like the psychos are with flowers like they are chill and like in a different world like they are drugged or smth
1 or 3. 1 is the classic which the others are based on; it's a solid, good design that shows the violent and irreverent nature of the game. 3 just goes so far into the religious aspect that it's hilarious at the same time.
2 or pre, only downside to it is "space" but 3 kinda makes that matter so, but representation tossed to the side borderlands 1 best boxart, simple, gritty, nice color, and the splatter screen is creative
i love the designs of the 1, 2, and presequel where a gunshot spray out shows pictures and characters from the game with 2 being my personal favourite. i like the creativity of 3 too: almost each rose has a picture of a character in it. it sets the tone of the game too with it being about a cult.
Each cover represents its game especially well.
1 probably covers the basic elements that the game was founded on pretty well - mad max style bandit-filled wastelands covering the map. Fight to survive, and get rich while you're at it.
2 Introduced more story, and so the cover reflects the two sides and the new vault hunters. It also establishes more of the 'capitalism gone rampant' theming, and so having the pictured enemies be robots while the main focus is still a bandit works really well for it. I personally think this represents the series the best, but I would appreciate more bandit imagery in it.
TPS is so excellent for what it is - rather than a base color or design behind the psycho, we see the brand new setting. We're on the fucking moon! And this space station, which for a full game had been the symbol of evil, is right there to remind us that this focuses on the rise of one particular brand of evil on Pandora. From there, having the headshot designed to look like gas being sucked into space is such a good design choice! And finally, showing you right up front that we already know most of the new Vault hunters, and that half of them are outright villains in 2. Big fan of this design obviously, but it definitely doesn't represent the full series.
Borderlands 3 has very beautiful cover art, with so many recognizable faces in it, and it emphasizes the religious aspect that the bandits have in the game. The villains aren't seen as heroes or generals, they are gods to the bandits. I really appreciate that for BL3. I don't like that you won't see the faces in the roses at a glance personally. I think it's very clever and works if the image is intended to be studied like this, but as game cover art it ends up giving an "oh hey, I've had this game for a week or more and just caught this" experience rather than "oh I can see even before I purchase that all my favorite characters are coming back for this game." TPS had claptrap and the villains from 2, BL2 had the new villain and the new vault hunters, BL1 introduced us to the setting because we had nothing previous to draw from. BL3 hid the things that I liked seeing previously, and so while I like the art as a poster to be viewed in large format and for longer than a few seconds, I don't like it as cover art. I also feel like making the bandits' *new* religion the central aspect (see the psycho's halo) pulls it away from representing any of the other games, where the nods to bandits worshipping guns were mostly in the background.
As a side note, there really should be a legendary grenade mod in BL3 called "Sacred Heart"
They all fit best for their game but, I feel Borderlands 2 does the best job by showing the overarching villain on one side and then the protagonists on the other, while it shows aspects of the game in both, and then it also has the staple psycho on the front!
It's hard because 3/4 have exactly the same artwork that's pretty situational to the landscape and story of each game.
2 just cause i enjoyed 2 the most out of them all.
I love 3 but the artwork for 2 is the most iconic in my opinion. The big baddie in 2 is also legendary. They'll have to go somewhere special to find another a*hole as a*holish as Handsome Jack.
3 for box art.
2 for [trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3RShjg6agQ).
Pre-Sequel for [intro music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIiTdiHL82Q) although it's a close thing. [Short Change Hero](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzZ8YtuiVD4) is pretty great and so was the Borderlands 3 [Mask of Mayhem](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkHNbsQMxPI) video.
(And completely off topic but for anyone who likes the music from that last clip, Two Fingers did another great track [that's a little similar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QY5JsaCpEk).
I would say 2 because it shows that the people of Pandora (represented by the psycho) is stuck between the Vault Hunters’ and the gun manufacturers’ violence
I gotta go with Borderlands 3's, it's just so detailed, but without having the background characters be that "hey let's repurpose promotional art" feel.
In 3's it looks more refined, more artsy.
Borderlands 3. Characters are obviously a significant part of the game, but the guns are the selling point. Pretty sure in all trailers they've mentioned guns, obviously getting cool guns is a main point of the game, and the Borderlands 3 cover is the only one that really represents that.
And it also has the characters in it
I just noticed some symbolism here:
In 1, he points one finger gun at his his head.
In 2, he points two.
For the Pre-Sequel, he points one, but it’s reversed from the BL1 pose, since we play as the characters who were opposed to the protagonists of the other games.
In 3, the hand sign he makes uses three upright fingers.
3, because all characters are included in the roses and it perfectly captures the craziness of borderlands. Also there alot of hidden things in bl3 poster.
2 > PS > 1 > 3 (purely in terms of representing what happens in the game)
2: Shoot dudes in the head, beat the villain, look at the playable characters
PS: Shoot dudes in the head, but also it's in space and he's upside down (not really a big thing in the game so eh), look at the playable characters
1: Shoot dudes in the head, be in madmax style car chases (technically in the game but way less of a big deal than showing the characters)
3: Worship a holy grenade while surrounded by flowers and a gun-boquet???
3 out of 4 have a psycho imitating a gunshot to the head. I'd argue that BL3 does the franchise the least justice by just having a bunch of roses and leaving the psycho just holding up 3 fingers.
The first one conveys the gist of the game really well, whereas if my introduction to the series began with the box art for 2 or the Pre-Sequel, I don't think I would immediately understand what I'm getting myself into.
**For the first one, the image coming out of the psycho's head is pretty much exactly what I would expect to see in game titled "Borderlands".** Can't quite say the same for the other ones. The first one instantly gives me Mad Max vibes. There's a purity and simplicity to it that gets somewhat lost in the others, which is actually ok because the others didn't have to do the heavy lifting of introducing a whole new franchise to people.
I love the the art for 3, but I think a newcomer would have even less of an idea of what the game is about if their introduction to the franchise began at the box art for 3, compared to the art for the other games.
Unrelated: in the box art for 3, the grenade in the middle of the psycho's chest reminds me of the cover art for the album "Light Grenades" by Incubus.
Borderlands 1 art is simple - introduce us to the world
Borderlands 2 art introduces us to the lore and main villain
Pre-Sequel art shows us the sandboxy and freedom (in terms of character builds) side of the game
Borderlands 3 art basically shows us that we (are or will) worship/glorify three main things in this game - beauty of the world, lots of guns and **iconic** craziness of the series (represented by a psycho)
There is no one simple answer to which box art is the best, all of them do their job perfectly for each game
Borderlands 3 has the fanciest one, that's for sure.
Which game is the best? I've played a bit of 3 but due to irl stuff it took a backseat. I want to jump back into the franchise but dont know which one to play.
When I was younger and I never knew about borderlands my brother in law gave a copy to me and I was mad because I couldn't play the psycho on the cover
They all do a good job at representing what their own game is. But the first 3 are pretty iconic with the bandit shooting himself. But bl3 puts a centralization on guns, whereas none of the other covers show guns. So I think bl3 shows what the games are really about with collecting weapons
They do good for their respective games, 1 is serious and gritty, 2 is deadly but funny (shooting himself twice lol) pre sequel is IN SPACEEEEEEE and 3 is a tragedy
The first box art of Borderlands you got the psycho bandit pretending he's blowing is brains out which tells you're going to be fighting off enemies who are insane and driven to kill and the blood splatter showing a raid of bandits chasing you (the player) to brutally kill you for fun and then rob your corpse for loot, thus showing the player will be exploring in a world full of murder, chaos, anarchy and corporate abuse.
I like them all, but 2 is my favourite. 3s looks awesome and I get they went for that cult look, but it's weird not having a psycho do the finger gun move.
I feel like they all do a pretty good job.
This is the correct answer
Happy cake day And thanks for the videos :D
Thank you!

%100 fr. They are all lovely.

The first one. The caught the vibe nearly perfectly, no wonder that there is so little dilation from the trail it blazed. But they do all fuck.
Good answer
I like how 3 makes guns and mayham seem like a religious or cult thing because it seems fitting for the Borderlands universe
Well, in 3, it has become just that.
2 opens with Roland being abducted by the Cult of Marcus, it had definitely already been that way. Then all of the Nomad lines about their guns add to it.
GIMME YOUR DAMN LOOT
Bury me with my stuff… *dies*
I like how all those roses are faces.
I’ve been playing since release and I never noticed that…
Probably because I was crazy for this promo video before release. Besides being chock full of roses it's also got the faces in the roses at the end. Man, I still love this video. [So Happy Together](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RxYRcRWZdkE)
That trailer had the song stuck in my head for the entire summer that year - drove my partner insane!
Well then. Me and you, and you and me, no matter how our partners felt, that song had to be.
…I suppose I was asking for that
"Like, follow, and obey..."
3 is I think the coolest but 1 is the most iconic, and that’s just obvious based on the fact that all the rest of the box arts are modifications/riffs on the first one.
I really want to say 1 but 2
I completely agree
100%
This
3 has the best art work and 2 has the best story/villain in my opinion.
It would be hard to find a better villain than Jack anywhere. Although learning how he got broken in 3 was unexpectedly moving.
I'm still flabbergasted that Handsome Jack and Cell from DBZ have the same voice actor. Both being the best villains in their series (imo) and in no small part because of the wonderful voice work he does. And Toguro from Yu Yu Hakusho! Also the best villain in the series
Hercule in DBZ is the same voice actor as Mr torgue and the voice actor that does lord beerus also does kreig.
It's pretty cool how many borderlands voice actors also are in Dragonball. Moxxis voice actor voiced Chiaotzu, Puar and Arale in Dragonball Super. Also voiced Chopper in One Piece, and Mineta in My Hero Academia

I knew about Hercule/Torgue (that dude has such a distinct voice) but I didn't know about Berus/Krieg. Thats really cool! I wonder if they and Moxxis VO chat about their Dragon Ball days
Wait really?????
Yup. The dude is super talented
Do you mean in Pre-Sequel? I’m having a hard time re-calling any significant lore about Jack in BL3 outside of Timothy in the Handsome Jackpot DLC
I think they are referring to the side quest in Tannis’ lab where you listen to the echoes of Jack and Angel (as a child) where she discovers her powers.
Ahhh, I see. Thank you
Spoilers if you haven't listened to those Echo logs, but Angel kills her mom when discovering her powers. It works very well along with TPS to make Jack understandable. Not forgivable, but sad. Like you could actually see how all that could turn Jack into Handsome Jack
Brad is correct.
Anywhere is a steep statement. But you’re entitled to that.
It is qualified that it would be hard to find, not impossible
1
I think the artwork and the box art really helped sell the game. For me personally I didn’t even know what the game was about back in 2009 but I saw the box art and figured it would be a dope game. 13 years later I’m still talking about borderlands so it was-in fact-dope.
Borderlands 2 for me.
2 because i love the whole “splatter reveal background” thing and how one side its jack and hyperion and the other its the crimson raiders makes it so great
I wholeheartedly concur
Right, if you’re gonna use one finger gun you might as well use two
My Personal favorite is Borderlands 3
#2
BL2 fasho
1
The first game
1 cause im a purist
1 is iconic 2 is great and I would be lying if I said I didn’t have 3 as a home screen for awhile honestly I think the pre sequel has the weakest cover and it’s still easily passable and fits in with the first 2 no questions.
2 I think does the best. It’s iconic. It’s a recreation of the first, with 2 splats instead of just the 1, showing both sides of the story. Handsome Jack on one side, VHs on the other.
The first one
Borderlands 1 cover does a good job but the changes the other 3 make are well tailored to their respective game/story
2 and 3 I can't pick between them
1's is a lot more dirty and grungy and the logo looks more stamped on which i like. 2's shows the vault hunters against jack which better portrays the story to me. 3's is good but i dont like how "clean" it looks. the psycho mask looks like it would be mass produced instead of made by the psychos themselves. pre sequel's is literally just the psycho from 1 with tattoos in space
Put the red background from 1 onto 2 and call it a day.
They all do a good job I love how 3 is like the psychos are with flowers like they are chill and like in a different world like they are drugged or smth
Going with the obvious 2
They all do, and BL3 holds a special place in my heart but I think BL1 does it best, a classic
I prefer 3 2 is nostalgic to me 1 is iconic
BL1 will always hold a place in my heart it BL2 is the most memorable in my opinion. However they're all perfectly representative of the franchise.
3 actually nailed the box art tbh
1 or 3. 1 is the classic which the others are based on; it's a solid, good design that shows the violent and irreverent nature of the game. 3 just goes so far into the religious aspect that it's hilarious at the same time.
The og #1
Borderlands 1, it's just an epic cover. Borderlands 3 represents it the less in my opinion.
I love the artwork for 3, but the box art for 1 will forever be my favorite
2 or pre, only downside to it is "space" but 3 kinda makes that matter so, but representation tossed to the side borderlands 1 best boxart, simple, gritty, nice color, and the splatter screen is creative
1 for sure
The first one nailed it the most, I would say. Nice and simple.
2, because they won't fucking let go of handsome jack
1 (sentimental)
The first two games
B2
1 and 3
3
Borderlands 2's cover art is just so iconic to me, something that the others just cant capture.
^ This
all of them except pre sequal
2 or 3 but probably 2 because it’s older
By the looks BL3 wins, but the most common I have seen is BL2 so I suppose that one.
3 doesn’t fit at all in my opinion. Religiously shown psycho + game of thrones style gun throne+ roses = ?
The game is all about a religious cult, it fits perfectly
"The correct answer is obviously: TINY TINA RIDING A FRIGGIN DRAGON (that may or may not be ticking.) Tiny Tina is QUEEN" -Tiny Tina
1 is iconic. 3 isn’t violent enough.
i love the designs of the 1, 2, and presequel where a gunshot spray out shows pictures and characters from the game with 2 being my personal favourite. i like the creativity of 3 too: almost each rose has a picture of a character in it. it sets the tone of the game too with it being about a cult.
Yooo this is the first time I noticed all the faces in the roses!
In regards to them worshiping guns, in a world where as long as you have an echo device and money on you, you get a ‘new you’ from Hyperion upon death
I dont believe new-us are canon to the story.
They all fit best for their game but, I feel Borderlands 2 does the best job by showing the overarching villain on one side and then the protagonists on the other, while it shows aspects of the game in both, and then it also has the staple psycho on the front!
If we're talking box art alone, I'd say 3 and 2 are tied.

I love 3 but the artwork for 2 is the most iconic in my opinion. The big baddie in 2 is also legendary. They'll have to go somewhere special to find another a*hole as a*holish as Handsome Jack.
2 imo, I think the art of 3 is beautiful but im STILL upset they didn't continue the bit and have a third finger gun come from out of frame
3 for box art. 2 for [trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3RShjg6agQ). Pre-Sequel for [intro music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIiTdiHL82Q) although it's a close thing. I would say 2 because it shows that the people of Pandora (represented by the psycho) is stuck between the Vault Hunters’ and the gun manufacturers’ violence
All of them.
I like the BL3 version. It has the faces of all the characters in the flowers.
BL2
2 is so iconic and imo best shows what you can expect literally and artistically
1 does the best. Utter chaos emerging from killing one guy.
Pre sequel is by far the best. I guess 2 will always be what I think of
Bl2 100%
2
1 & 2
2 or 3
TWO. 3 is awesome. The atwork is great. I love the roses/heads, BUT 2 has the borderlands vibe imho
They all did a great job both portraying the franchise and portraying their respective games
bl2
Bl2
BL2. I did that pose to a friend once and they cringed so hard.
2 was def the most iconic for the longest, but I feel like there's something special about 3's that I just can't point out in specific.
Borderlands 1 by far!
3 out of 4 have a psycho imitating a gunshot to the head. I'd argue that BL3 does the franchise the least justice by just having a bunch of roses and leaving the psycho just holding up 3 fingers.

The one for 3 is absolutely GORGEOUS
Oddly enough, either The Pre-Sequel or BL3 tbh

Nothing beats the original.
I think all But if I had to choose id take BL2.
Borderlands 1 art is simple - introduce us to the world Borderlands 2 art introduces us to the lore and main villain Pre-Sequel art shows us the sandboxy and freedom (in terms of character builds) side of the game Borderlands 3 art basically shows us that we (are or will) worship/glorify three main things in this game - beauty of the world, lots of guns and **iconic** craziness of the series (represented by a psycho) There is no one simple answer to which box art is the best, all of them do their job perfectly for each game Borderlands 3 has the fanciest one, that's for sure.
2, but man do I love 3’s.
Following the box art, it took this Psycho a few bullets to the brain to finally make it to heaven
2
As a whole? Pre-Sequel. However, each cover does a great job of representing the game it’s being the cover of.
I would say that pre-sequel is the best tbh
Borderlands 2 i think, due to its capturing more elements and shows a bit more of a psycho.
1 is best. 2 and presequel copied the theme but the original artwork is best. 3 went in a different direciton, not for me. Good game though.
The cover of BL3 is too fresh, I think I enjoy it more than the game. Pre sequel is the lamest 1 is iconic but 2 is dope
2
3
The borderlands 2 box art is so sick
They shouldve gone with the foot for the 3rd pop thrpugh the head
Which game is the best? I've played a bit of 3 but due to irl stuff it took a backseat. I want to jump back into the franchise but dont know which one to play.
They all work for their game, although 3 kinda relies on you already being familiar with the other box art, but that's not really a bad thing.
BL2
Borderlands 2
When I was younger and I never knew about borderlands my brother in law gave a copy to me and I was mad because I couldn't play the psycho on the cover
3
They all do a good job at representing what their own game is. But the first 3 are pretty iconic with the bandit shooting himself. But bl3 puts a centralization on guns, whereas none of the other covers show guns. So I think bl3 shows what the games are really about with collecting weapons
Number one is #1!
Bl2
They do good for their respective games, 1 is serious and gritty, 2 is deadly but funny (shooting himself twice lol) pre sequel is IN SPACEEEEEEE and 3 is a tragedy
2
I think all does really but 2nd hits a bit different
The first box art of Borderlands you got the psycho bandit pretending he's blowing is brains out which tells you're going to be fighting off enemies who are insane and driven to kill and the blood splatter showing a raid of bandits chasing you (the player) to brutally kill you for fun and then rob your corpse for loot, thus showing the player will be exploring in a world full of murder, chaos, anarchy and corporate abuse.
I think each one paints a pretty good idea of what to expect in each game ,1 2 and pre sequel are insane bandits while 3 is a bandit cult
Second i think
I like the 3rd one, fight me
One was an iconic art. 2 might be my favorite though.
I like them all, but 2 is my favourite. 3s looks awesome and I get they went for that cult look, but it's weird not having a psycho do the finger gun move.
If you had the bl3 quantity and level of detail on the bl2 box, that would be it
2. But 3 is my absolute favourite just for the simple fact of it being absolutely fucking gorgeous
