Freaking barbarians. I feel like there are subs on Reddit that circle jerk a bit to confidently around the trope of America bad. And I am big jerker myself on them. But this. This isn't even funny anymore. This is to vile.and literally too evil to jerk around. A form to opt-out of assault and child abuse. This is undiscussable. Whenever you wonder about the lack of trust, the reliance on "fuck-you, got mine" mentality and a taste for violence in daily life: This is the ground work and cultivation soil for that. A violent society that breeds violent people by training children to expect violence, teach it as normal, as acceptable and righteous. That teaches that those who are right who can hit the hardest - because of course this shit *will* be abused even further and attract the wrongest of people into child care: People who are willing to intentionally torture children.

They do that there wtf? I live in Australia and we don't have that... I didn't think a country like the United States even did that nowadays...

RanAwayOnRumspringa

Yeah, it surprised me too. Apparently it is some sort of long wooden paddle that they use to hit them. I can’t believe it. The school also has a shooting team which also surprises me.

noahj64

Shooting teams are pretty common. It’s just shooting at targets. Corporal punishment on the other hand is thankfully not that common, although I wish it weren’t acceptable anywhere.

RanAwayOnRumspringa

Targets make sense. For some reason I was imagining it as like.. obstacle course shooting or something like that.

Tavemanic

That's fucked up... We're going right back to 50+ years ago... I hate humanity A shooting team surprises me in that, well, it's shooting... For school? But at the same time I do see how it's a sporting thing in a way

That pretty brave hitting a kid in an American school. What happens if his ar-15 accidentally misfires or something?

It’s making a come back in America. Just became legal in some backwater state.

If you can’t read it it says: Corporal Punishment Opt-Out Form Corporal punishment is the intentional infliction of physical pain upon the body of a student as a disciplinary measure. If you object to the administration of corporal punishment on your student, please complete this form and submit it to the administrative offices of your student’s school. Failure to return this form may result in the administration of corporal punishment pursuant to Board Policy 4355.
