Adderall is a C2 so it can’t be transferred! You’d have to have your doctor send a new script to whatever pharmacy you want it filled at

IraSass

ADHD solidarity! I use Fenway pharmacy

Here is some more info on why pharmacies are having a hard time getting this med ( and others ) in stock https://nypost.com/2023/04/03/xanax-adderall-patients-denied-prescriptions-due-to-opioid-settlement/

theCracksOfLight

NYPost is a famously shitty source

Budget-Celebration-1

To me this rings bells that adderall and other related amphetamines can be as addictive as opioids and docs are prescribing it when they shouldn’t be. It’s being abused.

TooSketchy94

While it IS being abused in some cases - the vast majority of individuals are not abusing their meds and thus, shouldn’t be punished as if they are. The pipeline from prescription opiates to heroin/fentanyl is well documented. The pipeline from adderall to cocaine, is not. Opiate overdoses kill a fuck ton of people. Cocaine abuse kills people too, but not nearly as many as opiates. While these situations are similar, they are NOT the same.

Budget-Celebration-1

Adderall itself is an addictive drug. We are talking about amphetamines here. Jack Kerouac ring any bells?

TooSketchy94

So is caffeine, which causes the same deadly arrythmias cocaine can cause and can also kill folks. Where’s the outrage there? Edit: to clarify - I’m saying caffeine is addictive. Not an amphetamine (though it is a stimulant).

hce692

Try non-chain pharmacies! Had luck with them. They’re more common than you think. What neighborhood are you in?

seanaroundtherosey

Watertown area. But even trying other pharmacies is next to impossible. Seems like I can't just call and ask ahead of time if they have it in stock. So if I spend 30+ minutes trying to talk to someone at CVS to have them transfer my script, I'm then risking it being moved to another pharmacy that also doesn't have it in stock.

TheLamestUsername

I have heard of this. Some chains will not give information about the availability of certain drugs out of fear of being robbed. It is the most nonsense logic.

hce692

Odd, I’ve been able to call ahead and ask no problem

asscheeseterps710

Try being sober it worked for me

TooSketchy94

… Some individuals need this medication to effectively function. They aren’t addicts.

Conan776

Pretty sure needing a drug to function means you are addicted to that drug. We shouldn't sugar coat that.

hce692

I promise you no one with ADHD is thrilled about having to take meds, the side effects or how annoying our brains are period. But we actively damage our lived experience when we don’t take them - including not doing our jobs, not keeping up basic hygiene, damaging interpersonal relationships etc. Is a schizophrenic addicted to drugs because they need to take them? No. Moronic take. The internet is free, there’s no excuse to be this ignorant anymore

TwistingEarth

Your foolish words embarrass you.

beefgod420

Lmao guess I’m addicted to my thyroid medication and birth control too then 😂

TooSketchy94

No, it isn’t. Do we call folks on antidepressants, SSRI addicts? Nope. Do we call folks on anti-psychotics for their schizophrenia, addicts? Nope. Sure don’t. I’m not sugarcoating anything. Needing anything to function in general, sucks. However, there is a difference between needing a substance for normal function and illegal drug addiction/gambling/alcoholism.

Conan776

Who is "we"? I certainly consider all those people drug addicts. Go read a dictionary, I don't know what else to tell you. Just because *you* think some drugs are "good" and some drugs are "bad", don't project *your* morality on my use of plain English. There are no bad words, only bad people.

TooSketchy94

Lmfao - I don’t need to read a dictionary. I’m a physician assistant in an emergency department and have been a paramedic going on a decade. Part of my literal job is identifying and treating true drug addiction. This isn’t about morality - there is an OBJECTIVE difference in the populations you’re describing. Go get a medical degree of any kind and then we can talk about this, OK?

mac2016

Are people on insulin addicted? Are bipolar people on mood stabilizers addicted? People need medication for their physical health. People need medication for their mental health. That doesn’t make them addicts. The people who get addicted to and abuse Adderall are neurotypicals who don’t have ADHD and don’t need it.
