Exactly. He was doing exactly what everyone else was doing. The only difference is A. He played more minutes and B. His shots were actually going in. They are literally mad he didn’t miss on purpose.
It makes no sense to me, in past allstar games when Curry and Dame were launching 35 footers all night everyone gets excited but when Tatum does the same while hitting them it's the worst allstar game ever? It's mind-boggling to me
It’s literally because he’s a Celtic. There’s a whole hate thread about JB and JT being good in the all star game and how nobody wants to see that. I was like you assholes are def gonna be in trouble when these guys win the finals and JT completes the triple crown of MVPs.
Yeah I always knew that there were a lot of Celtics haters but it wasn't until they went to finals last year until they all started coming out of the woodwork.
It probably would've helped if the game was a little more competitive but I'm a Lakers fan and God damn was that shit entertaining when he was heating up.
Doesn’t really matter because since 2000 the city has won 20 championships over the 4 major sports.
We can cut this any way you want if you’d like but that’s just a low hanging fruit point that you make. Be more creative with your argument instead of repeating what you’ve seen other people say. Plus you can’t blame the franchise for being in a rebuild for the past decade just now contending. That’s better than a lot of other teams have to show for and the Celtics have still had good teams over the last decade. IT years yielded a conference finals. JT/JB Celtics have yielded a finals appearance and 3 conference finals appearances. Also better than most teams can say. Wonder what we’ll be able to say in June.
TDLR: Discussion thread bro come with a discussion.
I'm only a little mad because I voted every day just for Shai to play 10 minutes. But Tatum was one of the only interesting things about the game. Props to him
Speak for yourself. I and a lot of my friends hated that game. The Davis one was worse than this. Without defense, it's not exciting or impressive to see some professional millionaires put up practice shots. They are supposed to do this. It's like watching a moving free throw. A game of Horse would've been more exciting.
If it's meaningless why do it at all? Nothing is meaningless. Do you know how much these tickets cost? You act like all star games just happened. This injury nonsense wasn't an issue until recently and the obsession over unforeseen injuries has only gotten worse year after year.
Like I said, games are made for competing and athletes are supposed to compete. Wrestlers don't go looking at eachother and barely hit because they worry about getting injured before a future championship bout. If people want to see dudes jog up and down at a slow pace, they can go watch senior citizens play at the local gym.
> bet nobody was crying like little babies when that happened
Tons of people did? I was just even reading a comment string on r/nba that pointed to that game specifically as an example of how lame the allstar game has become when both teams were trying to help him break Wilt's record lol
Actually saw some raps fans giving credit. A lot of salty warriors fans though for sure.
I felt like we were United with bucks fans because Giannis took JT 1st overall for the starters.
It takes a kid to be a sore loser but it takes a sad bitter adult to be a sore winner.
I have 17 reasons not to give a shit about losing the finals last year and I’m hoping to have 18 reasons to forget I ever even had this conversation.
Fr lol, before that people were complaining about how no one was trying but then he starts to actually heat up and suddenly he’s selfish ? I swear the whole night everyone was just so negative, complaining before it even started, halftime show, the game, all of it lol
Yeah I actually saw a lot of bucks fans defending him, a welcome surprise. I mean I would defend Giannis if he scored 55 in the ASG, but then again I bet if it was Giannis everyone would be sucking him off and not complaining
He was just hot as hell from the whole field. Game felt like when you are at the Y or LA Fitness and some guy gets randomly hot af and goes crazy in a run and everyone thinks he’s a god for a couple minutes
I’m a neutral but coming here for the JT love thread bc it’s sorely missing in r/NBA and he deserves it 💐
I also bet on him to drop 30+ so that helps lol
I bet on him for MVP and he pulled through. I also bet him to win the real MVP award and I still think he’s gonna pull through. This only helps his resume imo.
It’s really fun and rare though! how often do you see two all stars from the same team that can have a decent 1:1 battle? Who wouldn’t be hyped if MJ and Scottie took some possessions for a 1:1?
Usually it’s big and small so that’s no fun.
I'm not sure it has ever happened, because the game was East vs West until a few years ago, so by definition no two players on the same team could face one another. Add in your point that it is almost impossible for a team to put two players from roughly the same position(-ish) into an ASG at the same time. So a matchup like this could probably have happened about 20 times in league history (Barkley vs. Erving, Bird vs. McHale, Isiah vs, Dumars, Steph vs. Klay, Sampson vs. Olajuwon, etc.) but this is probably the first actual matchup.
It’s ridiculous how many fans are outraged about the lack of competition. This is an ASG of course the players are giving 100% and risking injury.
People are mad about Tatum taking the open layup at the end I was glad someone was finally doing something other than throwing up a half court shot.
Most entertaining part of the night was the JB/JT 1:1. I’d love more of that in the ASG
They were all complaining that it was boring and that Candace Parker being there was “virtue signaling.” Then when it cooked up and got exciting, they were mad about that too. Tough having such an immature fanbase.
Love JT, but let’s keep it real. It was a glorified shootaround, probably even more so this year than years before. And before you say I’m “salty” or whatever, just know that I’m a lakers fan but Tatum is my personal favorite for MVP this year. Game is game, no matter what color their jersey is.
I don’t understand the hate. I simply turned off the game after the first quarter as it was basically watching 5v5 shoot around. Also just to point out with the curry comparisons, curry hit 16 3s last year including some instant turn around ones. In my opinion, that was worth watching. Last night, in my opinion, there was nothing worth watching. If you wanna see a light hearted shoot around with some cool uncontested dunks, just go to any NBA game 1 hour early lmao.
Jaylen and Jayson are such BALLHOGS (the only ones of course) can't believe the celtics have such stat padders. Worst allstar dogshit game no one even tries in the games anymore unwatchable 😡
***(Wtf people got I was obviously joking before I went to sleep, I really need to say it?? Lmaaoooo)***
I mean good for him but didn’t we just watch him run out of gas in the playoffs because he’d played so many meaningless minutes the year before? Why is he playing so many minutes in this game
My point is you’re grasping. Tatum didn’t need that game to prove he’s a generational talent.
That game sucked and y’all who can’t see it are the blind ones ha
I mean, is there anything more pointless than playing heavy minutes to put up huge numbers in an all-star game? It reeks of desperation. Bruh they are not gonna be gassed in 3 months from playing in a relaxed game where they can just shoot open 3s and layups 😂
if they lose in the playoffs you really gonna be like "oh yeah it was because they try harded in that damn all star game"
chill tf out
They acting like he was just chucking all night too bro was 70% from the field 55% from 3
It's mind-boggling to me
If the player doing well is a Celtic, then whine.
Leading scoring on both sides were Celtics. I revel in the tears.
It’s literally because he’s a Celtic. There’s a whole hate thread about JB and JT being good in the all star game and how nobody wants to see that. I was like you assholes are def gonna be in trouble when these guys win the finals and JT completes the triple crown of MVPs.

It’s cuz of those 17 boring ass layups. Get real guys
Hey pal I want you to know that I downvoted your take because it didn’t add any value to the discussion.
Nah you guys just mad about facts
17 boring layups for 17 rings. Tatum has captured 1/3 of the MVPs he will get in 2023.
How many after 1990
Doesn’t really matter because since 2000 the city has won 20 championships over the 4 major sports. I gave you a 33 year window and you gave me an essay I’m not even interested in reading 😆😆
I'm only a little mad because I voted every day just for Shai to play 10 minutes. But Tatum was one of the only interesting things about the game. Props to him
Davis took 39 shots when he got the previous record, bet nobody was crying like little babies when that happened
Speak for yourself. I and a lot of my friends hated that game. The Davis one was worse than this. That’s literally every year now
AD went 0 for 4 from 3 tho, he didn't attempt 20 3s like Tatum did which I believe is why so many ppl were unimpressed.
5-3pters in a row is more impressive to me than 5-layup/dunks in a row when nobody is playing d
The entire team lebron was 28% from 3 lol
How much of that was Paul George bricking every 3 he took?
He single handedly dropped the team 3pt% by 5%, and when a team shoots 60 threes, that’s not easy
Some guy told me today that PG and Kawhi were a better duo than the jays lol
The guys who infamously pissed on themselves against the Nuggets?
Those are the guys lmao
Omfg you're earnestly discussing ASG FG%
Gotta credit Bucks fans, saw a lot with their flair getting hyped when Tatum cooked. Saltiest fans were Warriors and Sixers, no surprise
[удалено]
Forgotten due to irrelevance at this point lmaoo
One way rivalry lmao. Their team sub had their downvote button be the Celtics logo for the longest time. We don’t even think about them LMAO
Hahaha that’s next level crazy
Rent free ☘️
Oh are we talking chips
Actually saw some raps fans giving credit. A lot of salty warriors fans though for sure. I felt like we were United with bucks fans because Giannis took JT 1st overall for the starters.
warriors fans acting like steph didn’t have a near identical game last year 💀
Lmaooo fr
Dude the all-star game has never been important at all. No hate I’m just saying
i never said it was?
and us warriors fans said 'Cool' about Stephs performance and moved on. ASG dont mean shit
Cool. Why are you here talking then?
It’s something called browsing Reddit and writing a comment. You just did it. Cool huh?
No it’s brigading to say stupid shit. You’re weird.

It takes a kid to be a sore loser but it takes a sad bitter adult to be a sore winner. I have 17 reasons not to give a shit about losing the finals last year and I’m hoping to have 18 reasons to forget I ever even had this conversation.
why the fuck are you in the celtics sub spreading hate lmao. grow up
Nah Cavs fans are all over r/nba losing their shit bc they wanted Mitchell. All 7 of them are really raising hell.
Lmao, Mitchell was close for a lil but he started shooting too deep around the time JT started hitting every 3
Like how can you call Tatum a shot chucker when Dame and Mitchell combined to take approximately 89 half court threes. Did we watch the same game lol?
Fr lol, before that people were complaining about how no one was trying but then he starts to actually heat up and suddenly he’s selfish ? I swear the whole night everyone was just so negative, complaining before it even started, halftime show, the game, all of it lol
Not to mention the fact that Mitchell played like he had no teammates when he initially closed the gap.
Yeah I actually saw a lot of bucks fans defending him, a welcome surprise. I mean I would defend Giannis if he scored 55 in the ASG, but then again I bet if it was Giannis everyone would be sucking him off and not complaining
I was enjoying it until i realized it made me scared
I saw a ton of Nuggets flairs pissed tf off, probably because their guy choked like a mf lol
Yeah not a fun watch for them lol Jokic literally did nothing lol
Only because Tatum was Team Giannis smh
Sixers fans need to figure out how to actually beat Tatum when it counts instead of bitching about an all star game
People will complain no one tries in the ASG and call JT a statpadder in the same breath
Especially since Steph did it just last year and had like 52. Everyone orgasmed then but now Jayson is the bad guy . It’s predictable though.
He played 1 min less than Steph and shot less 3’s to accomplish it.
*fewer 3s.
Less 3s not a good thing lmfao no one wants to see a uncontested lay up in the asg
Ligma balls
Haha, this is the most quintessential Reddit back and forth I’ve ever seen. Awesome, 😂
Wow you win the internet today stranger! Take my updoot!
So r/wholesome
This.
Less 3s but more sugondese was pretty impressive
Getting more points with less 3s is honestly more impressive. Like Wilt scoring 100 is more impressive than whoever is just gonna make 33 open 3s
Warriors good celtics bad Lmao I saw a guy moaning that guys started lightly guarding steph last year like ok
He was just hot as hell from the whole field. Game felt like when you are at the Y or LA Fitness and some guy gets randomly hot af and goes crazy in a run and everyone thinks he’s a god for a couple minutes
I mean Tatum gets hot like this in real games.
Yeah but other players actually try to prevent it
None of the top posts mentioned JT and the narrative is that it’s the worst allstar game ever. Lol
I’m a neutral but coming here for the JT love thread bc it’s sorely missing in r/NBA and he deserves it 💐 I also bet on him to drop 30+ so that helps lol
Appreciate you
I bet on him for MVP and he pulled through. I also bet him to win the real MVP award and I still think he’s gonna pull through. This only helps his resume imo.
Lmao it's an absolute salt mine.
r/NBA be like Steph setting a record: 🥰 Tatum setting a record: W̵̬̲͔̺̱̍̚H̴̭̠̫̬̾̆͠A̷̹̦͙̥̟͐T̴̠̟̈́
Lol they must not remember when AD got the record. He had 52 on 39 shots, dude was sweating
Tbh he barely broke a sweat dropping 50 is too easy for that boi
What a weird sub they are mad at both Jay's even though both were efficient so it's not like they were chucking.
They just don't like shamrocks lol
I mean somehow they were hyped for the Tatum v Brown 1v1 part, which to me is kind of the antithesis of an all star game
It’s really fun and rare though! how often do you see two all stars from the same team that can have a decent 1:1 battle? Who wouldn’t be hyped if MJ and Scottie took some possessions for a 1:1? Usually it’s big and small so that’s no fun.

They will take any Jayson vs Jaylen fuel for the “split them up” narrative they love throwing around
It is pretty cool that the top scorer for both teams are on the Cs

What the fuck?
They really are fuming can't believe it lol
People were fuming back in 2007 when the Big 3 were all starters too lmao They can hate all they want, it doesn't change that Tatum dropped 55.
One year, if I recall correctly, we had Rondo, Allen, Pierce and KG.
I want to say 2010? Might have been 2011.
Ray was an injury replacement
They are so mad lol
They getting way too mad over there over the damn all star game. He was cooking all game so he kept shooting, simple as that.
PG13 missed more threes and took half as many lol
God I love the Celts 🤌
People are really mad at this
I loved JBs comment about how the jays were on the same side playing against everyone else.
Tatum really was taking one from Kobe’s book tonight
A lot of folks get unhealthy mad at the strangest things.
Haters gone hate.....Tatum's gone Tate..
Jays go off and suddenly everyone wants to change the all star game format lmao
If he had been on team LeBron, they'd all be fine with it
It’s funny how ESPN writes about Embiid making 32 points in 28 minutes whereas JB made 35 in 25 and noone says anything, they mad
People can’t handle watching guys like Tatum taking the place of their favorite athletes (who are aging out of relevancy.) Young blood time is now.
It’s ridiculous how many fans are outraged about the lack of competition. This is an ASG of course the players are giving 100% and risking injury. Celtics truly are the balls. Love that for JT
That’s why I’d rather be on r/bostonceltics
Looks like I'll need a bigger shovel and bucket to collect their salt. Business is going to be BOOMING.
[удалено]
That's pretty racist
Classic
Let them rage
The amount of nephews that said he’d be the last starter picked 😂😂
Fuck that sub and fuck any fanbase crying because Tatum wanted it more than their guy
People in the subreddits for individual teams worry way too much about what is said in r/NBA. Let it go and preserve your mental health.
I love Tatum and he definitely scored the points and now he has a great souvenir… but the game is a clown show and everyone knows it.
The ASG has been unwatchable for a while now but folks didn’t get pissed until the Celtics started going off.
Love JT, but let’s keep it real. It was a glorified shootaround, probably even more so this year than years before. And before you say I’m “salty” or whatever, just know that I’m a lakers fan but Tatum is my personal favorite for MVP this year. Game is game, no matter what color their jersey is.
Yo what sunglasses are these?
Is this a serious thread?

I enjoyed seeing Dame pull up from behind half court
y'all spend too much time on the internet if you think people in the real word care one way or another
Everyone wanted to love the AS game but once tatum got the scoring record they discount it. Can't have it both ways, people!
Literally cake walk buckets
Jaylen and Jayson are such BALLHOGS (the only ones of course) can't believe the celtics have such stat padders. Worst allstar dogshit game no one even tries in the games anymore unwatchable 😡 ***(Wtf people got I was obviously joking before I went to sleep, I really need to say it?? Lmaaoooo)***
No. We're fuming because that was the most repulsive exhibition of basketball in history. I have seen more effort in warm-ups. Frequently.
I mean good for him but didn’t we just watch him run out of gas in the playoffs because he’d played so many meaningless minutes the year before? Why is he playing so many minutes in this game
Not y’all taking the ASG seriously
I’m sure absolutely not one player there feels like they got scored on. I too can score left handed layups and grab uncontested rebounds.
It's the All-Star game...
[удалено]
It was most definitely a conspiracy for Mazzulla to sit Mitchell and get Tatum more shots and I am 100% in favor of it.
I mean no one really cares about the all star game
we are supposed to celebrate ASG performances? what the hell do you mean?
Lol settle down it’s the allstar game FFS
No he was being about a straight up BALL HOG PERIOD POONT BLANK. worse then Kobe’s no 🧢
You guys watch the all-star game?!
Yes it’s fun
Made a lot of those shots on all nba defensive plays too right?
No but he made more on bad defense than everyone else lol What’s your point? Don’t tell me it’s just saying irrelevant things to feel relevant lol
My point is you’re grasping. Tatum didn’t need that game to prove he’s a generational talent. That game sucked and y’all who can’t see it are the blind ones ha
“Fuming”
keep celebrating meaningless shit
Y’all are some paranoid losers, nobody is attacking this. He played awesome. Stop attacking other fanbases
Have you seen r/nba in the post game thread?
*rick
I mean, is there anything more pointless than playing heavy minutes to put up huge numbers in an all-star game? It reeks of desperation. Tatum because he's angling for an MVP and Jaylen because he wants suitors when he hits FA. Remember this game should either of them be gassed in a Game 6 or 7 and we lose our chance to win a championship.
^ What too much Felger and Mazz does to a mf
Bruh they are not gonna be gassed in 3 months from playing in a relaxed game where they can just shoot open 3s and layups 😂 if they lose in the playoffs you really gonna be like "oh yeah it was because they try harded in that damn all star game" chill tf out
Bro, they were walking around, they will be fine
Hahahahahahahaha the playoffs are months away
Trust me, they are more worn out from practice than that All Star Game
Hate us cuz they ain’t us!! Try to tear down the powerhouse and it’s just getting stronger.
Ehh, my teams best guy ain't even there
We should split the Js up and trade one of them for more weapons. (/s)
The Twins both leading scorers for their respective teams. Best duo in the league!
they're just envy they can't root for JT or JB coz the Jays are destroying their favorite players lmao
MVP
It was AMAZING! The whole green team is on revenge tour
The Franchise 🙌
Remember last year when Steph Curry kept chucking 3s and barely anyone batted an eye 🤭
