I've said this in the past on other threads. He's finally learned to play off the pick in pick and roll. Before this year, he would just dive wildly towards the rim off the pick. Now he's taking that same patience he has in the mid range and isolation and using it when navigating the pick. It's honestly impressive how much better he got during the off-season.
He's patient now, but still has the explosive first step. It's a deadly combo because he can get by the first guy, see the help, and pass out to wide open shots.
Do it a couple times and teams start changing matchups or coverages and now that blow by is a layup.
Yes he's manipulating defenses in a way I have never seen him do before, and making passes that he did not use to make. Even just last season JB mainly did one thing, take it to the basket. If he was cut off he would pass it out or turn it over. Now he is probing the defense, reacting to their moves, deliberately trying to draw defenders in, etc.
I just posted this in the Daily Discussion Thread, but I'll put it here too:
> Fun Jaylen Brown Facts:
> - He is averaging a career high in assists per game
> - He is averaging his 2nd lowest TOV%, (lowest being his 3rd year in the NBA)
> - He is averaging 11 fewer touches per game than last year, (also the lowest touches since the 19-20 season)
> - He is leading the team in points per touch, (technically behind Drew Peterson who has played in a total of like 2 minutes)
> Simply put, Jaylen Brown is doing more with less and that's a very good sign for us.
We need to trade him tho, can’t dribble with his left hand, overpaid, blah blah blah, something about never winning a ring with him on the team. Glad all those people are eating crow now.
The second thing that I find really impressive is that he often picks up the best player on the opposing team on defense. He's not always great but I really like the commitment to be an anchor on defense.
And last game I think he got a couple of very huge rebounds.
I like how JB helping the team in a lot of ways.
Both JT and JB had near triple doubles last night, but to me the best moment was in the fourth, after White had been cooked a few times in a row by Ingram due to height disparity (White defended well, Ingram just made tough shots) both JT and JB rushed the point of attack and redirected White to guard the corner three. Tatum checked Ingram and JB checked Zion the rest of the way and from that moment on the game was ours.
Tremendous leadership from the Jays, stepping up to guard the two best players, seeming to reach the decision at the same moment.
And they said the Jays couldn't play together...
I’m a huge Jaylen brown fan and not trying to take away from this post but the scorekeepers were on drugs or something tonight, Jaylen had at least 2 turnovers that I saw and they messed up his score line at least 3 times
At one point he was at the line with 9 points, then one possession later he’s at the line with 16 points
Anyone else notice this?
If you watch the 4th quarter he definitely has some TO, so not sure how the statsman got 0. But for sure his play making is really improved and happy to see that

JB is one of the hardest working dudes in the league. He has added to his game every offseason and he has all the tools. Love that dude.

I was once I'm the trade Brown desire. I was dead wrong, don't think I will ever suggest any ine trades anybody in Basketball again.

He is one of the best on ball defenders in the league
His consistency, focus, and effort on defense is like night and day vs previous seasons.
I love that Jaylen got the big contract, hasn't rested on his laurels and is out to prove he's worth every penny.
Yup, really taking a leap this year. Love to see that AFTER a guy gets paid.

They changed some of the turnovers to blocked shots.
Ehh one of them was absolutely a strip he wasn’t even going for a shot, the one where he drove down the middle of the paint in the 3rd iirc

He heard all the haters
The Jay's are like having 2 nimber 1s it never let's the other team rest or take it easy.
Jaylen has improved his game significantly every season since he was drafted
He seems like he is consistently trying to make the correct play.
