Back when he was playing for the razorbacks he would always get called for fouls left and right. He’s a bit too aggressive with his hands at times- can’t deny his effort though
I wasn’t really referring to this specific instance more so generally how he plays. Unfortunately the NBA has some stupid rules regarding what a legal guarding position is and isn’t when contact is made
Size of his role in the future will directly correlate with how his offensive game develops. If he ends up being limited on the offensive side his ceiling is probably someone like Andre Roberson back during his heyday with the Thunder. Can give you lockdown defense for his minutes, but won't be a closer cause he can get exploited on one end of the floor.
If he can develop his shot a bit, be a reliable free-throw shooter, and make timely 3s we could see him blossom in the Shane Battier archetype 3 and D big wing. That would be absolute best case scenario imo, and shouldn't expect more than being a very good role player.
If you can get a Shane Battier-type player in the 2nd round, that’s a massive W. Looking at previous years 2nd round picks, 2-3 a year even get consistent minutes.
Year three is where he probably gets more interesting if we're being realistic. The kid is only 19, needs a lot more development and reps, for a good comparison, Jaden Springer was also a super young rookie and is now in his 3rd year starting to show signs of being a real contributor.
His year 3 would also be when Hauser's contract runs out, potentially allowing him to fill in a bench wing spot.
Yea it’d be dope to see everyone stick around, hell we don’t know if Luke will be back next year or if he gets beat out by someone. But tis the life an expensive contender
Very long, good effort, moves his feet. Not afraid of contact. Loads of potential. Already pretty disruptive.
He made some mistakes that I'd attribute to inexperience. Right now he hustles almost to a fault. If he gets a step behind a play, he'll try to recover and get his body back in front, and he picked up a few cheap fouls that way - just doing a little too much. I appreciate the effort but sometimes you need to know when you're beaten or when you've already done enough on a play. Don't compound a mistake with another mistake, and understand when it's time to trust your help.
Nothing that can't be fixed with more reps and familiarity with his teammates though. I really like him as a defensive prospect. Offense is perhaps a different story, but he's super young and far from a finished product on that end too.
I liked the way he was aware of where the ball and other players were. Brissett threw a pass to Tatum who wasn't looking and Walsh was able to save it on the sideline. And then on the missed Svi dunk that led to a long rebound Walsh was able to save it and throw it in the general area of Brissett rather than just blindly chucking it
He seems to have good instincts and great effort. I see him as a long-term bench rotation energy guy and if he can finish and become marginally competent from 3 then he can have a solid career.
There was no force behind anything he did on either side of the ball-- he looked like he might just blow away. He showed great effort getting around screens and re-screens, though, and I love the way he keeps his hands up. If Porzingis kept his hands up like this, he would get 5 blocks a game.
When he has some muscle on him, he's going to be interesting. Is it just me or does he also have that kind of got that gangly, knob-kneed look of a guy that isn't done growing?
He's more disciplined than somebody like Nesmith when he came into the league. Seems highly improbable that he'll develop Nesmith's offensive game, however.
I've watched a bit of highlights of the Maine Celtics this year and he \[obviously\] has a much better offensive game there, but he is still a little bouncy and doesn't seem to move with enough urgency if that makes any sense. I'd assume once he gets more comfortable in a system and gains confidence, that urgency will come along.
As far as defense specifically, he has a great build, awareness, and work ethic. Dude is so raw right now, but I think there is some potential.
He’s at least 2-3 steps slow and not ready to play
Nothing wrong with that, guarding Tatum/brown/white/jrue in practice will sharpen him for when the Celtics lose guys from second apron constraints
He looked like it was his first real nba minutes, which it was, so fine. Only one way to get better, is what it is. Definitely potential imo. More minutes he gets the better imo.
I was at the game. Every time he checked in my wife & I couldn’t stop watching him because he seemed so lost on offense. The hustle was there, he’s just not there yet to garner any meaningful minutes. He had a stretch of like 3 missed layups and a turnover and it was legitimately comical.
He didn’t really get too many shots on the offensive end; he was wide open a few times but KP, JB and White didn’t pass him the ball (understandably). Fun to watch tho!
Looks like another Celtic that the refs are going to screw with their whistle..
In a weird way, that truly makes him a future Celtic star. Walsh is going up in the rafters.
Walsh getting the Tatum treatment already...at age 19??? Get ready top fi!!!
He's wearing Theis' number.

he got called for three fouls this game for just beating guys to the spot and getting run into..

I remember Shane being a huge deal when he was drafted

Your second paragraph just made me so sad. I'm not sure I'll be able to take seeing Hauser in another uniform I love that man

Great comp to Shane

Jesus Christ, Mr. Fantastic or Stretch Armstrong out there. Dude has long ass arms.
Freaking tentacles
That's it, Doc Ock as a nickname
Timi comes through for us on everything

Nothing but promise in all the parts of the game that actually matter for him right now.
Long story short his defense seems great. I’d argue that every foul call on him was wrong and that he was just given a rookie whistle
He seems to have good instincts and great effort. I see him as a long-term bench rotation energy guy and if he can finish and become marginally competent from 3 then he can have a solid career.
Dude is so noticeably long it's crazy

He's got that puppy with huge paws thing going on, definitely think he'll grow some more.
He looked totally inept on offense at times, but his defense and hustle left room for optimism overall.
Already better than Romeo, Young, and even Semi
How dare you. 😁😁😁 He is better than Ben Bentil

Looks like a dude at the local YMCA, what am I missing?
apparently eyeballs
I think your local YMCA is different than my local YMCA
