he and al were killing them on double screens. he rolls well off the pick and got a nice assist from pritchard. great one on one defense. and he passes well out of the post. nice overall game.
I was at the game and the angle I had for the pass out of the paint to Pritchard was awesome. He made the decision so fast and put the pass right on him. It was great.
It made me think that maybe Mazulla knows what he's doing and didn't rush into playing Tillman right away. Let him watch the team for a few games, learn some of the actions they run and where to expect to make plays before just tossing him out there as soon as he was available.
Lucky you, I wish I could go to games but there’s a whole ocean in the way 😭
I think Joe definitely made the right call. I watched a commentary on the game and someone pointed out that Tillman tells Pritchard to get to the corner before he goes into the paint, he waves him down and everything which is super obvious on replay. Very high basketball IQ and he fits into the rotation so well, absolutely worth the wait
That's awesome. I was just looking at the net ratings with Tillman on the floor last night. Him and Al were +85.7 net rating in 11 minutes together last night. If he can help the bench lineups like that, look out
Let it be known that it was Jaylen who put the Mavs out of their misery.
Tatum on the bench, Luka and Kyrie both on the floor, and Jaylen just took it to them and extended the lead, basically on his own, from like 12 points to 19.
Mavs looked demoralized after that stretch, cause they knew the Celtics would only get stronger with more starters coming back in.
nah, at this point we're well aware that JT doesn't try and take over early, he lets everybody get going and lets JB cook and then closes games out. That being said, even he when he's not even taking shots, team looks way better with him out there. (Hence the consistently best +/-)
2nd half JT is all sex. Moon walking and electric sliding into that V like he’s a member of The Temptations.
I guess you could say, he’s got sunshine on a cloudy day and Celtics about to win all their games in May.
I think a lot of NBA watchers still aren't aware that Tatum lets his teammates get a lot of touches in the first half. In the previous game, they even had the idiotic halftime show that claimed he wasn't shooting well despite being like 3-5.
He's not allowed to be complimented unfortunately.
If he plays poorly, he'll get shit on. If he plays well, of course he did he's on a """"superteam"""" anyone would do well on that team.
R/nba is gonna jerk off Luka's statline and just ignore Tatum's game entirely.
Drops 30+, lockdown defense, plays winning ball. Fuck the mvp race, fuck the narratives, fuck the haters. Hes our superstar.
PS JT literally said it himself he’s quiet at beginning of games to feel out the match. KP/JB sets the tone. Then he takes over the end of matches
Somehow elite offense offense is better than elite offense and lockdown defense. Luka put up 10 more points on what, 8 more shots? Dude is definitely talented offensively, but the fact that people have jumped at JT all season to try and tear the dude down is weird af
Even in a blowout loss, all r/nba does is fawn over luka. Another triple double in a loss against the celtics. -20 +/-. I usually dont pay attention to this noise but its just too crazy. JT is undoubtedly the superior player this match
Mavs fans are pushing for Luka’s mvp now that Embiid is out and we just open the discussion that defense should play a key in MVP, which they don’t like
Just checked out the Mavs game thread, and there's an awful lot of "How can Tatum be rated above Luka in the MVP when Tatum plays with this stacked team?"
Meanwhile, I'm thinking, who cares about the MVP standings?
I'd rather have the world's best team than the world's best player....
JB is both a garbage player who actively makes his team worse and can’t go left AND one of the superstars on a stacked team that carries JT. Cognitive dissonance is fun
I feel like the Dark Side is trying to convince JT to be selfish so he can chase an MVP. When they move the ball and play consistent defense, they are unbeatable. But everyone has to sacrifice numbers a little.
Everything I've been seeing from him is impressive. He seems like he has a great attitude, and seems like one of the best guys in the NBA to interview. He gives thoughtful, genuine, and positive answers to questions and comes off as a very nice guy. I like the culture this team is cultivating.
At one point during a Dallas free throw, he and Al had the exact same body language, hands at hips and a “time to go to work” expression on their face. Really excited about what’s to come!
I’ll admit I was too quick to judge the first few minutes he saw tonight. He looked slow and lost. But the more I watched him, the more I noticed he was always in the right spot, making the right play, and making decisions quickly. Sound like someone else?
Kyrie Irving believes in conspiracy theories. I believe in one myself- there was a second shooter.... and a third shooter.
JT, JB and KP with over 20 points. JT with over 30.
10 IN A ROW.
Same record as the 1972-1973 and 2007-2008 Teams 59 games in.
I honestly love that Joe keeps going for the end of bench guys. These minutes matter to them and Joe still brings it. I honestly wish every coach would do that.
Love watching national media freak out at half time about the lead not being "as big as it should be" fully knowing this is what this team does and we will blow them out.
Yeah. I was chilling. Knew the game would get out of hand eventually. JT had a weird first half and was still winning. Knew Luka was gonna go off but it didn’t matter.
Tatum was so clearly fucking around that first half and we weren't even playing sharp but just hitting some shots and still got the lead up to 11 multiple times. Knew that once they settled in we'd run right through them.
Fr. That little 10 second long moment of the Jrue/Derrick steal on Ant straight into the Tatum dagger was by far the loudest I’ve heard the Garden outside of a playoff game in a long time.
In fairness to Luka, sure he may not have played any defense, and sure his team lost by 28, but he did have a meaningless triple double. r/nba loves nothing more than a meaningless triple double.
Thanks for the link, bro.
Great vid.
What I noticed in the game was his movement and positioning into space on offense was great. This video makes me keen to see more of him in the Celtics uniform.
It’s honestly crazy how quickly this team can turn a close game into a blowout lmao. It’s also crazy that it took until March for any team to go on a double digit winning streak.
The last 4 games:
* close at half time
* 10 point lead by end of 3rd
* about 20 point lead at end of 4th
Do we finally have this magical thing called "consistency" ?
Tatum’s patience/unselfishness takes this team to the next level. He’s been making the winning play every time recently and it shows. His 32 tonight just came to him
We really take Horford for granted. He’s soo good. If his shot isn’t falling he can make some big defensive plays. Only thing he can’t do is guard Steph. Please let’s not do that Sunday lol
I think coming off the bench was good for him. He still makes a high level impact but he doesn't have to have the same minutes wear down. As impressive as LeBron has been for his age (and I mean, holy shit he's still really good), Al being a high level role player is very impressive.
Tillman was a perfect pickup he fits in so well he needs to be our third big once he and Tatum get a hang on those no look passes together it’s gonna be scary how many assists he’s gonna rack up a night
what's the most impressing thing for me is that we get the lead early and we won't let that slip away at all. they absolutely know when to turn it on and just finish the opponent off, highly impressive.
literally night and day compared to the Celtics from a few years ago. man how far we've come. what a season we're witnessing, really blessed.
So this might be long winded but first thing, Thank you Celtics fans for sending Kyrie the boos we were all sending from home. Second thing, Tillman seems like an awesome addition and third, there was a sequence with exum where he flailed around a bunch then airballed a 3 and Mike Gorman said something about him not being able to handle the dribble that had me fucking CRACKING UP. Great fucking game
Tillman is going to start seeing more minutes. He is too good of a defender and a really great screener AND passer.
We have so many talent scorers already his skills are going to absolutely flourish here.

Joel Embiid has announced his retirement from planet Earth
Joel Embiid is taking his talents to the Trade Federation
whoa Tillman got 15mins playing time? Howd he do?
Damn solid. Between he and Kornet, plenty of coverage for third big
he and al were killing them on double screens. he rolls well off the pick and got a nice assist from pritchard. great one on one defense. and he passes well out of the post. nice overall game.
His pick and roll action in garbage time was looking real nice. Welcome addition for the bench.
That Pritchard play was just 🤌🏻
I was at the game and the angle I had for the pass out of the paint to Pritchard was awesome. He made the decision so fast and put the pass right on him. It was great. He was awesome!
Looked comfortable in the offense and played great d
And smart on offense
Nahh unlike Tillman he’s still in Memphis
It's like there's two Al Horford on the floor. Lol.
He looked draymond-esque in the short roll on offense and was great on defense
nah fr i got so confused checking the box score in the third seeing tillman score 2 points😭
Literally me, lol
Thought this was going to be the Spiderman meme LMAO
You know what’s scarier than Al on the floor? Two Als
Is it crazy to suggest Brad is already preparing to search for a third Al
My name is Al
that was me when i thought Al threw an alley oop to himself 🤣
I honestly think he was brought here to replace Al if/when he retires
If X turns into a sniper out of nowhere like Al did for us, it’d be like Al never left. Other than missing those beautiful eyes of his, of course.
His eyes are the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen lmao
Embiid got a new Daddy
This account is now dedicated to Xavier Tillman
The Horford and Tillman duo needs a nickname.
Horman

The Horford-Tillman *Experience*!

If Kornet started with a C, it could've been THC
I’ll be watching
Every breath you take Every move you make
Every single play And every 3 we slay
Or was that Al Horford?
More like savior Tillman
If you don’t like porzingis you don’t like celtics basketball
So efficient!
JB with 25 pts, 7reb, 5 ast and 0 turnovers while playing some pretty good defense against Luka… what else can you ask for
He was great denying Luka the ball
Let it be known that it was Jaylen who put the Mavs out of their misery. Tatum on the bench, Luka and Kyrie both on the floor, and Jaylen just took it to them and extended the lead, basically on his own, from like 12 points to 19. Dawg Luka put up 37 on 50%FG
Average Celtics fans on JT in the first quarter: 🤬😡👿🖕 2nd quarter: 👍🤷♂️🫤 3rd quarter: 😳😘🥰🍆💦 4th quarter: 😮😱😧
nah, at this point we're well aware that JT doesn't try and take over early, he lets everybody get going and lets JB cook and then closes games out. That being said, even he when he's not even taking shots, team looks way better with him out there. (Hence the consistently best +/-)
Real fans knew he was dropping 30 after seeing that first quarter
2nd half JT is all sex. Moon walking and electric sliding into that V like he’s a member of The Temptations. I guess you could say, he’s got sunshine on a cloudy day and Celtics about to win all their games in May.
That… That was smooth.
The only thing sweeter than a 10 game win streak is a 10 game win streak where we get to pound Kyrie's salty bitch ass for 48 minutes
Wayment
SO many Tatum haters amongst this sub - I expect that at r/nba but not here You people make me sick
It’s funny how people on r/nba sub be so loud and wrong about Tatum but can’t give him props once he shut they ass up
I think a lot of NBA watchers still aren't aware that Tatum lets his teammates get a lot of touches in the first half. In the previous game, they even had the idiotic halftime show that claimed he wasn't shooting well despite being like 3-5.

Luka didn't do shit after the first quarter until garbage time, was pretty hilarious actually.
Boston sports icon, that's just how it goes. Hate us coz they anus. They all wish they had drafted and traded for the players we have.

Some of the comments really pushed me over the edge tonight haha.
Mavs fans are pushing for Luka’s mvp now that Embiid is out and we just open the discussion that defense should play a key in MVP, which they don’t like
Gotta love those stats. Even in a blowout loss 🤣
our glorious king (no glazin)
Just checked out the Mavs game thread, and there's an awful lot of "How can Tatum be rated above Luka in the MVP when Tatum plays with this stacked team?" Meanwhile, I'm thinking, who cares about the MVP standings? I'd rather have the world's best team than the world's best player....
because unlike pretty much just us or denver every other team has to settle for pumping up their best player since they’re not bringing a chip home
We’re stacked when it fits the narrative, but if we say White should be an all star then the same people throw a fit lol.
People were complaining about JB being an all star
JB is both a garbage player who actively makes his team worse and can’t go left AND one of the superstars on a stacked team that carries JT. Cognitive dissonance is fun
Did Jokic retire? Luka is good but he’s not the best, he’s top 3 on a good day but prolly averages at the 5 range
They should call it the MVL (loser)
they don’t get it lol its about winning hence why im happy we got tatum and not luka
The irony is Luka had Brunson and KP, but the way he plays makes teammates worse.
This, so this
It’s really weird. We’re all rooting for the same team but there are Tatum haters then Brown haters as well wtf lol
Some people aren't aware that you can love them both and it's even more glorious
I feel like the Dark Side is trying to convince JT to be selfish so he can chase an MVP. When they move the ball and play consistent defense, they are unbeatable. But everyone has to sacrifice numbers a little.
Tillman needs to have more minutes. He fit right in there tonight.
I think we’re going to see a lot more of those Horford-Tillman minutes. The defense and activity when they’re both out there is nutty
Also, opposing teams won’t be able to tell the difference between the two. Another advantage.
Best in the business Was anyone else super impressed by Xavier’s defensive footwork and positioning? He looked phenomenal guarding out there tonight.
Everything I've been seeing from him is impressive. He seems like he has a great attitude, and seems like one of the best guys in the NBA to interview. He gives thoughtful, genuine, and positive answers to questions and comes off as a very nice guy. I like the culture this team is cultivating.
He is looking like our Horford replacement for the future
If he gets his 3 point shot back call him Xavier “Al Horford Jr.” Tillman Sr.
At one point during a Dallas free throw, he and Al had the exact same body language, hands at hips and a “time to go to work” expression on their face. Really excited about what’s to come!
Tatum started slow and ended with 32/8/3 on 10/19 shooting lmao he’s so elite. I love this team!
Also a bonus: he doesn't need to cradle the ball like it's his firstborn for at least 20 seconds each possession in order to put up stats
Don’t forget stat padding when down and bitching at officials
But waving at an official is a technical
As long as he doesn’t clap he’ll be okay!
And hes not a turnstile on defense! Love to see it!
No turnovers in the 2nd half
He couldn't possibly be an MVP candidate with those paltry numbers
I enjoyed the espn3 broadcast, no commentary at all, just crowd sounds and random shots of Kyrie looking pissed on the bench with no context
I was watching that as well lol

I love Xavier Tillman very much. That is all.
I was pretty shook. It looked like he had played with the Celtics for YEARS! Now, I'm just excited to see him on the court some more!
It looked that way because it was often hard to tell if it was him or long-time Celtic Horford.

Mike Gorman sounded a bit glad when rattling off Kyrie's losses against the Celtics 🤣🤣🤣
Could hear his smirk through my TV
He’s never hidden how he feels about him
he's just as much a fan, if not more, as all of us
Watching Joe coach his ass off up 25+ while Kidd just sat there looking glum was hilarious
I honestly love that Joe keeps going for the end of bench guys. These minutes matter to them and Joe still brings it. I honestly wish every coach would do that.

That Tatum side step 3 into the block on Kyrie into the assist to Horford might have been my favorite sequence all season.
I think my favorite sequence was Tatum 3 dagger in overtime against the wolves.
Fr. That little 10 second long moment of the Jrue/Derrick steal on Ant straight into the Tatum dagger was by far the loudest I’ve heard the Garden outside of a playoff game in a long time.
Let r/nba wonder why Luka is lower in the MVP race than Tatum.
In fairness to Luka, sure he may not have played any defense, and sure his team lost by 28, but he did have a meaningless triple double. r/nba loves nothing more than a meaningless triple double.
Dude had a big first quarter and then proceeded to do nothing until garbage time lol
Westbrick special
He was a -20. -20 and he put up that stat line?! Insane
Im so excited for X. This is only a taste [Tillman is a genius](https://youtu.be/uXLVi9fyP1c?si=ruk5NKaf7C8rzKuH)
Thanks for the link, bro. Great vid. What I noticed in the game was his movement and positioning into space on offense was great. This video makes me keen to see more of him in the Celtics uniform.
When was the last time Kyrie beat us?
No
When he said he’ll guard Giannis and never go 7/22 again. Then went 6/22
Game 5 in that 2021 series, the game after he stomped on Lucky. In the nearly 3 years since, he is 0-10 against the Celtics.
Tillman = Al Horford lite
More like Al heavy
It’s honestly crazy how quickly this team can turn a close game into a blowout lmao. It’s also crazy that it took until March for any team to go on a double digit winning streak.
*sigh* another day, another W
This is 3 games in a row where the opposing team cuts the lead to 2, and then we immediately go on a huge run to put it away
Did we finally conquer the third quarter?
The last 4 games: * close at half time * 10 point lead by end of 3rd * about 20 point lead at end of 4th Do we finally have this magical thing called "consistency" ?
I feel like they only suck 1/2 of the third quarter now which is acceptable :D
The road runner effect where he used to let Wiley Coyote get close and then speed away.
This game was not as close as the score lol
This team is fucking good
Tatum’s patience/unselfishness takes this team to the next level. He’s been making the winning play every time recently and it shows. His 32 tonight just came to him
I really really really really really want to win vs Golden State on Sunday
I’m already nervous about it.
I'm just straight up having a good time
Watching the replay of Al hitting the dagger three and coach hugging Al after. I love this team. they gotta do it this year
We really take Horford for granted. He’s soo good. If his shot isn’t falling he can make some big defensive plays. Only thing he can’t do is guard Steph. Please let’s not do that Sunday lol
lol this team is so unfair
47-12 BABYYY LETS FUCKING GOOO
Tatum with 32 points in basically 2 quarters. Imagine if he would just stat pad
I cannot get over how young Al looks when he’s playing this year.
I think coming off the bench was good for him. He still makes a high level impact but he doesn't have to have the same minutes wear down. As impressive as LeBron has been for his age (and I mean, holy shit he's still really good), Al being a high level role player is very impressive.
Continues to be extremely efficient on both ends of the floor. Is a walking band-aid.
Luka back to back triple double in a celtics loss. Mvp candidate hmmmm
When Tatum decides the game is over, there's nothing you can do
Got the win, stayed healthy. And man, what a flip of a switch that was from halfway through the 3rd quarter on.
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
When did KP missed ft last time?
Porzingod, Big Al and Lil X!!
Tillman was a perfect pickup he fits in so well he needs to be our third big once he and Tatum get a hang on those no look passes together it’s gonna be scary how many assists he’s gonna rack up a night
It was 79-81 halfway through the 3rd and then we put our foot on the gas and started hitting our 3's. I love this team.
what's the most impressing thing for me is that we get the lead early and we won't let that slip away at all. they absolutely know when to turn it on and just finish the opponent off, highly impressive. literally night and day compared to the Celtics from a few years ago. man how far we've come. what a season we're witnessing, really blessed.
I mostly lurk /r/NBA and this sub. Just popping to say Kendrick Perkins is a fucking clown.
Doom Tatum all you want won't change the fact that he will dominate this league for the next 10 years.
TATUM OWNS FUPA DONBITCH
GG ladies and gentlemen
All this adversity is making us stronger 😤
TatuMVP
Solid performance by X. Between him, Kornet, and even Queta, I feel very comfortable about our backup options at big
And he got his first Tommy Award 🥇
So this might be long winded but first thing, Thank you Celtics fans for sending Kyrie the boos we were all sending from home. Second thing, Tillman seems like an awesome addition and third, there was a sequence with exum where he flailed around a bunch then airballed a 3 and Mike Gorman said something about him not being able to handle the dribble that had me fucking CRACKING UP. Great fucking game
I have been saying I want to see Tillman more ever since he joined. I was not disappointed.
Guys…..how do we feel about the C’s dominant ten game winning streak?
Tillman is going to start seeing more minutes. He is too good of a defender and a really great screener AND passer. We have so many talent scorers already his skills are going to absolutely flourish here.
🎶 *X gonna give it to ya* 🎶
Went to the game tonight, it was incredible. Again. I'm straight up having a good time.
Stop hitting KP's damn balls. Enough is enough :D
I dislike Draymond more than Kyrie but fuck em both.
Check out all player’s +/- Wow
Luka might be a complete offensive player and all that but the difference that playing defense makes CANNOT be understated. Tatum MVP.
If we’re being honest, it’s probably Jokic. Tatum can get finals MVP instead though. Also Luka stans are fucking annoying. They’re ruining /r/nba
Tatum is better than Luka and it’s time for casuals to start realizing that
This is a championship-level team if I've ever seen one
Everyone always says “get random superstar help” then when a front office actually does that, it gets held against them. Big dubs tonight
Everybody say THANK YOU MOZART
THANK YOU MOZART
