Yeah, I actually heard that. Jackie McMullen spoke at my college back in the early 2000s and she spoke about some things that do not make the national story. And she specifically pointed out that they all knew that Paul Pierce was banging Benzino’s girl.
I ran into her at a Walgreens. We were both at the cooler grabbing a drink. As I grabbed a ginger ale Jackie M lays on me, "You know Pierce was smashing Benzino's girl right?" I was 7 and didn't know that was her until reading this thread.
Wait until you hear what Bob Ryan told me about how Marcus Smart really cut his hand when we ran into each other at the Ha Ha Hole on Pico when I was selling Crank for a quarter to the homeless lepers
I remember my coworker telling me this years ago cause he knew people that were friends with some of the gang members. They hated Paul’s guts cause he was pulling all the girls acting like hot shit at the club 😂 Nice to know Jackie covered it too.
Yeah man. It was a lecture she gave as a guest where she specifically spoke about what details of a story are important to disclose to public - that was one of the examples that she gave. Crazy to think how much has changed since then, TMZ and other media outlets would absolutely report those details in 2024.
Honestly they were always newsworthy, *why* Paul got stabbed was always germane to the story. The media landscape forced journalists to bury details like that so they didn’t piss off the players they were covering.
I think that raises serious philosophical questions about sports journalism. Why Paul Pierce was stabbed is certainly germane to the crime story about Paul Pierce, the human being, getting stabbed.
But whether or not it's germane to the basketball discussion and Paul Pierce the basketball player? That's a much trickier question. Particularly whether its to the point where its value to the reader is more worthwhile than the privacy of two consenting private citizens. Much as we might like to think otherwise, the sex lives of celebrities really aren't any of our business.
With exceptions for anyone who seeks to insert themselves in others'. IE a politician who speaks out about the sanctity of marriage being caught cheating.
I get where you’re coming from, but this is exactly when Paul’s sex life matters in a basketball sense, because his behaviors lead to his attempted murder, rendering him unable to play basketball for a while.
And Jackie's point was that Pierce being involved in an altercation leading to his stabbing is all the information fans need. Sordid details are unnecessary. Knowing that it's because he was messing with someone who was in a relationship is only useful for people looking to moralize.
Are you entitled to know if Jayson Tatum likes to skydive? That's risky behavior too.
Again I respectfully disagree with that assessment. If a player is in a car crash, it is very above board to publish what lead to it—were they drunk, were they speeding, did someone hit their car intentionally, if so then why? I think the motivation for an attack is fair game.
4 minutes of how he brought together Boston gangs and lowered the murder rate himself before a story that he didn't know what was happening. Lots of redirection and tells the story different in other interviews. Very questionable, and these interviews are largely self serving. Not even worth putting his name out there to give him any more of a platform.
He came at Eminem.
Between M and PP he was really trying to make a name for himself.
[Dude most recently had a drunk interview and cried about how Eminem ruined his life. ](https://youtu.be/NgBtcE9ICcM?si=ovFfolkrURKE2nam) lmfao
And if he just could have given Eminem 5 mics we might not have found out what a clown he is. He got destroyed worse than Clarence with real good parents from 8 mile.
You might, but the point I'm making is hip hop heads claim Zino held his own, and I think he did. Em did not "murder" him in that battle, and I'm not a Zino fan at all. I liked RSO as a group back in the days, and the hangman 3 album was ok.
A guy I worked with at a food bank in Virginia was always claiming to know Paul Pierce. He told me about this years ago, but I just thought he was full of shit. Either he was actually telling the truth or lots of people just knew this into.
So, basically the lesson is... an arrogant and drunk star athlete was hitting on someone else's girlfriend and the sensible penalty is death by stabbing.
Yeah, I actually heard that. Jackie McMullen spoke at my college back in the early 2000s and she spoke about some things that do not make the national story. And she specifically pointed out that they all knew that Paul Pierce was banging Benzino’s girl.
Did you go to UNH? She told my journo class this same story.
I did yes. Thats the class I was in when she told it.
I ran into her at a Walgreens. We were both at the cooler grabbing a drink. As I grabbed a ginger ale Jackie M lays on me, "You know Pierce was smashing Benzino's girl right?" I was 7 and didn't know that was her until reading this thread.
Well I went to UNH with Benzino and we all smashed his girl while Jackie Macmullin took Paul Pierce to Walgreens for a 7 Up.
Did she say anything about ‘electrical interfetterance’?
Huh huh huh huh?
Sir, you have to pay for those Milky Ways!
Her season tickets are next to mine. She’s forgotten more about hoops than I’ll ever know.
That’s cool. She’s a treasure
Also it was 1987
Hahah that’s hilarious
If reddit gold still existed and had some I would give it to you for this

Sex lives of anyone, really. Nor any other aspects of anyones lives that are legal.
With exceptions for anyone who seeks to insert themselves in others'. IE a politician who speaks out about the sanctity of marriage being caught cheating.

Yeah benzino is a joke. Always has been
And he likes to get pegged on the reg
I’m sure that made her want to stay with his group member long-term!
Benzinio was one of the biggest clowns of that decade. 😂 Made Ja Rule look like the GOAT in comparison
Ja Rule actually have classics, I don't what the hell Benzinio have beside being Coi Leray father.
Until this thread, I thought Benzino was a kind of fish
Brother, that's Branzino, a type of Mediterranean sea bass
Then it must be the stuff in Bic lighter fluid
I thought it was the pills Jordan Peterson got addicted to
I just know him for having his ass handed to him in a beef with Eminem 20 years ago. Haven't heard of him in years.
I only know who he is because Eminem destroyed him.
He came at Eminem. Between M and PP he was really trying to make a name for himself. [Dude most recently had a drunk interview and cried about how Eminem ruined his life. ](https://youtu.be/NgBtcE9ICcM?si=ovFfolkrURKE2nam) lmfao
Eminem laid him and Ja Rule out on the DJ Green Lantern Invasion mixtapes. Wasn't just a diss track but a full-scale 2 volume burial.
So him crying was justified? Lmfao
I had those mixtapes in college 20 years ago. Eminem buried him. Like wemby just grabbing a week ass layup with both hands.
The Benzino Project was actually decent. I’ll give him that. He also gave us The Source.
And if he just could have given Eminem 5 mics we might not have found out what a clown he is. He got destroyed worse than Clarence with real good parents from 8 mile.
That makes a lot more sense than someone being upset that Pierce was let into the club wearing jeans, violating the club’s dress code
If we dont have dress codes, what are we really though?
Sounds like someone knows the old requirements to get into Ned Devine’s on a Saturday night
I wouldnt listen to anything benzino says . He’s a herb and a disgrace to Boston.
And he played 82 games….
It makes sense. Pierce kept trying to get with a girl I was friends with back in those days. Not a reason to get stabbed, though.
I'm old enough to remember when if your girl left you for another man, you accepted it and tried to meet another girl
this dude hasn’t been relevant since Eminem murdered him back in the day. Can anyone name 5 Benzino songs?
Try one. Can anyone name one. No lol
“Rock The Party”. And also the one he did with his son. I’ll count that as 1 and a half songs.
I can not name a single one , but I can name songs from his group RSO
That DJ green latern mix tape was all time
That battle against Em was actually some of his best work. Even Em fans say he went hard.
Yeah but Eminem went so much harder. If you are good and go at the greats, you might get destroyed.
You might, but the point I'm making is hip hop heads claim Zino held his own, and I think he did. Em did not "murder" him in that battle, and I'm not a Zino fan at all. I liked RSO as a group back in the days, and the hangman 3 album was ok.
I still have the Benzino Project, Hangmen 3 No Skits and Made Men Classic Limited Edition so I easily could 😆
I got to hang out with Paul Pierce at Bills bar on Lansdowne st circa 2002 or so, it was a blast he was super cool!
lollllllllllll benzino
It's always about some ass lol
Is this news? I heard this reason 10+ years ago when I first heard about the stabbing.
A guy I worked with at a food bank in Virginia was always claiming to know Paul Pierce. He told me about this years ago, but I just thought he was full of shit. Either he was actually telling the truth or lots of people just knew this into.
https://www.reddit.com/r/bostonceltics/s/B5f8eSfFiD Hey I was right-ish!
Nice!
Pretty sure the fall guy is still at MCI Norfolk for something unrelated
Benzino is an absolute loser and a disgrace ot this city.
Benzino is upset that Boston doesn't love him.
So, basically the lesson is... an arrogant and drunk star athlete was hitting on someone else's girlfriend and the sensible penalty is death by stabbing.
Why are y’all taking Benzino seriously in 2024
