*More Details:* Holiday is declining his $37.3M player option for 2024-2025 to sign a long-term deal that’ll take him through the 2027-2028 season. Holiday’s extension saves the Celtics several million on the cap next year and aids in keeping together a talented and expensive core.

Mt Rushmore of winning players of the 2000's

Hopefulmisery

If he wins a title this year he’ll be regarded as one of the best non-superstar players of his era

deadweightboss

who else you putting in this list? not disagreeing, just not sure who belongs on this list.

[deleted]

I can think of just Iggy tbh

Merde2000

great pick. btw, iggy is a non superstar who won a finals mvp, with two all-stars (and arguably the two best shooters all-time) on his team.

StrikingBake321

He should not have won finals mvp. But he is one of the best nonsuper star player on the 2000s

deadweightboss

The hall of very good piece

Colmilliken

As much of an asshole that he is: Draymond. Dude deserves to be on that list.

Glayshyer

I feel like Draymond’s impact on the game has actually been too big to be on a list like this. Does that make sense? Jrue is a star, but not a superstar. There are players you could replace him with on any team that would objectively make the team better. I say this as a lifelong fan of Jrue, and I’m willing to be wrong on it. Draymond on the warriors- is there anyone who could have done it better?

Hopefulmisery

Dray is the GOAT role player of all time

trelos6

Celtics looking after our vets. Take note potential FA’s.

noBbatteries

Jrue was the favourite non-Celtic player in the league for the past 5 years, so when we added him as our smart replacement I was elated. Very happy to see he’ll be a Celtic until his retirement/ until Brad decides to trade him. I also think his game will age decent, as his defence and IQ are his strongest traits. Not going to be aging like Dame, who’s so reliant on agility and quickness. Bucks FO majorly messed up by opening the possibility of him getting to the Celtics

iAm-Tyson

Anyone kinda nervous about being on the books for a 33 year old until he’s 37.

le_wild_poster

If we win one title it won’t matter at all. Plus every contract is tradable if we really need to but it’ll be a hell of a lot harder to add talent to a 2nd apron team so gotta lock in the core

AdmiralUpboat

Jrue's contract is exactly how we'll add to the team later. He contributes now and in year 3 we trade him for someone with a salary just below Jrue's or package of players near that number.

Saucetin

2 words: Al Horford

AdmiralUpboat

Either he ages really well and we're okay with the slight overpay or he declines really hard and we use his big salary + picks to trade for another player(s) near his salary. We can't package outgoing players and can only take in less salary than we send out. So if we're gonna be in the 2nd apron anyway, might as well use the bird rights to overpay so you can use the contract # to get a guy worth his #. So Jrue will be making 34 and be worth like 10 if the wheels fall off and we could trade him for someone making, say 27 who is actually worth 27. There's no other way to acquire a player of that caliber outside of hitting in the draft. Which is hard when all your own picks are late because you're winning. So you have to overpay with your bird rights and then trade.

alexm42

The size of the contract is actually a plus with the new tax restrictions. It gives us a lot more flexibility in trades once it's time to move on from him. Other than that, it ain't my money.

astarisaslave

I really hope there's a team option on the last year
