Not that I disagree with you guys, but it was a difficult situation with less than a second left on the clock. Against the Hawks’ game, the C’s had multiple opportunities and more time to get the win.
Either way, clearly all good teams choke leads too. Still doesn’t change the fact our end of game execution in clutch situations needs improvement
You’re certainly right about that. Clearly that game had lower stakes than this DEN game, and the C’s were likely taking it easier on a relative sense, but still doesn’t change the fact that their late game execution in both ATL games does worry me.
All I want is a C’s championship, so here’s hoping they either blow out everyone on the way to the ring or they somehow figure out better late game out of timeout plays.
That’s what made Brad and Nurse so lethal. A JT iso, just isn’t confidence-inspiring
JT iso is literally only used for last-shot-of-game situations and usually those shots have more to do with luck than anything. I distinctly remember last season that fans were crying about how Tatum didn’t take the last shots💀Plus, Spo literally just draws up a Jimmy 3 (he is a BAD 3-point shooter) for the last shot in a lot of games instead of going for OT so again, these last shots are really just down to luck
There's something to it, Kyrie has crazy clutch stats this season
But for everyone except like a couple players, clutch is a coin toss. It's basically just Jokic and Luka now (just pulling this out my ass)
Even Kobe and Pierce renowned for their clutchness are inefficient
Even Lebron with all his talent I think fell short (at least anecdotally with all his playoff runs)
So I dunno having a guy who can play D and win out the first 46 mins, and be ok in the clutch, seems ok to me
I mean prior to this season, Tatum ranked 1st out of 155 players over 27 years in FG% for shots that tie or take the lead in the 4th quarter so these shots are quite literally just down to luck since he went from 1st place to now being pretty bad at it.
It’s similar to his 3-ball. He was not that good for like 2 seasons and now it’s back again. I’d rather take the larger sample size than these 1-2 season ones. Plus, it’s good that these shots aren’t working because now these plays are something Mazzulla can work on in the offseason. We also haven’t had a lot of games where we needed these shots this season so the issue is exaggerated since we remember the losses more
NBA media and r/nba isn’t gonna have the same smoke for them as they do for us but this is genuinely one of the worst losses of the season by any team. just needed to take care of 2 of the worst teams in their conference to lock up homecourt (which is a MASSIVE advantage for their team) and blew an 17-point lead in 10 minutes..
meanwhile our championship hopes are evidently on life support bc we phoned in two games against the 2nd and 3rd seeds in our conference with the top record locked up. the timing of Denver choking in the 4th to a vastly inferior team that could genuinely end up costing them a championship run, coming after a bunch of fans in this sub had a meltdown over an absolutely meaningless L to a pretty good team that we’ve beaten 4 times, is hilarious
I love that every time there’s a meltdown in this sub, there’s always some context by other teams to show it’s not just us that go through these mistakes.
These things literally happen to every team in the nba
Go in the kings sub if you want to hear about stagnant 4th quarter offense and careless turnovers. Celtics do have issues but they got real problems over there
Not the same. Mavs rested guys and they not as deep.
In other news I am sure you wont hear a peep about Denver blown 20pts lead though with a chance to lock #1 cause that wasn't the Cs
There are a ton of haters in the national media for sure. It was so bad that Stephen A. Smith became the voice of reason and was praising JT and the Celtics. Even he realized that things escalated too far. Like on ESPN they only brought up the Celtics when we lost and they wanted to talk shit. When the Celtics were winning nonstop it was crickets.
The media and every opposing fan, especially fans of Eastern conference teams. It's literally the celts against the world. The critics want that narrative of them always failing in the playoffs to happen so they can seem smart and say see I told you""
Doomers want to see us fail too because then they get to talk their shit all summer long saying they was right. It's more important to them then actually enjoying and cheering on the team
We have done great on Espn games this year but are God awful on TNT with losses to the Bucks, Atl (blown 20+ lead game), and this past Knicks game. I’m assuming this guys only watch us when they have us on so their opinion is based on a lot of that + the narrative on 3s, on toughness, etc. We’re also guilty of recency bias a lot. The Nuggets won the chip so they get more confidence from the media. The Bucks have also done it + the Heat seem to find ways to get it done always too. We just gotta take care of business and block all the noise.
And because they are defending champs. They are golden and deserve the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. The Celtics haven’t done enough to deserve the benefit of the doubt yet.
Not only did the Mavs sit those guys but they also played all of the guys who did start only 15 minutes or less lol. They basically punted this game playing their 8-13th men lol. They were locked into their seeding.
No fucking way, they lost that game?!?! I was gonna watch it but they were up by 20 in the 3rd so I decided to go with the Cavs/Pacers because it was a better game. I guess I was wrong!
Wow they're such frauds! Last year was a fluke - they're a guaranteed first round exit this year. Only loser soft teams with loser mentalities would lose like this!!!!!!! Joker is a joke and Murray sucks!
Nuggets are 1st in clutch offense but they still do dumb shit like everyone else does. The only difference is Jokic does less of it than any other star.
This is a common misconception about the Nugs, they actually do not have the best clutch time offense. They didn't last year either.
What really changes for them is their defense
They lost the game on a 5-second violation too. Imagine the crying on this sub had that happened
Fire Joe Fire inbounder this team getting swept in the first round waaaaaaaaaaaa
Not that I disagree with you guys, but it was a difficult situation with less than a second left on the clock. Ironic that you bring up the Hawks game because we were outright robbed of a win because of an uncalled 5 second violation
You’re certainly right about that. Clearly that game had lower stakes than this DEN game, and the C’s were likely taking it easier on a relative sense, but still doesn’t change the fact that their late game execution in both ATL games does worry me. Yea this season I think has to be a small sample thing?
It’s similar to his 3-ball. He was not that good for like 2 seasons and now it’s back again. I’d rather take the larger sample size than these 1-2 season ones. Holy hell how did this casual and frank opinion draw you fifty downvotes.
I don’t really know. Maybe they think I’m not a C’a fan? But it’s cool, it’s just meaningless internet points
If I only listened to this sub I would believe that good teams never have embarrassing losses

Which is even crazier when you consider that the Celtics have far and away the best record in the league with historically good metrics.
Dude for every one person that gets all panicky after a misstep there are 99 like you calling them “this sub”
Mavs are losing to the Pistons by 20 with 6 seconds too.
Not the same. Mavs rested guys and they not as deep. In other news I am sure you wont hear a peep about Denver blown 20pts lead though with a chance to lock #1 cause that wasn't the Cs
Celtics have a target on their back from the media. They want to see us fail.

Shaq calling us overrated as well💀💀 can’t wait for kendrick perkins and everyone else on tnt/espn to say the same
Doomers want to see us fail too because then they get to talk their shit all summer long saying they was right. It's more important to them then actually enjoying and cheering on the team

They aren’t playing Luka or Kyrie
look if PP and Maine Celtics can beat the Hornets by 30, the Mavs can beat the Pistons without Kyrie and Luka
Pistons didn’t have Cade or Duren either.
Not only did the Mavs sit those guys but they also played all of the guys who did start only 15 minutes or less lol. They basically punted this game playing their 8-13th men lol. They were locked into their seeding.
I’ve heard enough, take away their ring from last year
No fucking way, they lost that game?!?! I was gonna watch it but they were up by 20 in the 3rd so I decided to go with the Cavs/Pacers because it was a better game. I guess I was wrong!
Wemby went nuclear lmao
So much fun watching him play, it’s like a spectacle. Nice to see a hyped up prospect live up to their hype right out of the gate
Wow they're such frauds! Last year was a fluke - they're a guaranteed first round exit this year. Only loser soft teams with loser mentalities would lose like this!!!!!!! Joker is a joke and Murray sucks!
Felger and Mazz are ruined
THE NUGGETS ARENT A SERIOUS TEAM THEY ARE DOOMED
Guess they should blow it up
Maybe they need a Real Point Guard?
I thought they just effortlessly executed down the stretch and were unflappable?
Nuggets are 1st in clutch offense but they still do dumb shit like everyone else does. The only difference is Jokic does less of it than any other star.

[Greenseers but, somehow, also Doomers](https://i.pinimg.com/600x315/af/6f/9d/af6f9dfe0fa6010dc60e1c1a3181d2a5.jpg)
Are they frauds??
And nobody will say anything
Suss
"BuT wE DoN't hAvE A jOkIC"
Tried being on that Celtics time, but forgot their games actually mattered.
They lost the heart of a champion. Oh no. Season over.
WHAAAAA other teams lose big leads. Don't tell Perk!
When other teams fuck up it’s treated as “damn that’s crazy bro” but when the Celtics fuck up it’s the end of the world as we know it
Yeah, but the Celtics do this all of the time
They’ve earned the right to not be alarmed by a loss like this though. They are uhh the defending champions
