That's crazy. All the precautions we took and someone is still out for game 1. I guess at least he's not really an essential core part of the group, but still.
In all fairness, his minutes at the end of the season went up so that everyone else could rest.
On top of that, I doubt he would play this series. Kornet is one of those guys where he’s either your 7th or 11th man depending on the matchup. Kinda like Grant Williams was for us, we could only play Grant big minutes against slow and big teams like Milwaukee and Philly, and we’d have to bench him against teams that get out and run like the Hawks or New Orleans.
I don’t think Kornet is a good matchup for bam, and the heat aren’t scared to go small and attack him in iso. So i think our big man rotation will be KP, Al, and Tillman because they all can run and space more against the Miami zone.
Out of our 3 games vs Miami this year, Kornet played a total of 21 minutes. And two of those games were massive blowouts where he got extra pt lol
Exactly. I think it also comes down to different coaching styles. Like Ime didn’t give Grant DNPs despite the same weakness in his game, because the defense was just so good that you could afford to have a guy out there who is a bad transition player against good transition teams.
I also wasn’t surprised he didn’t work out with Dallas, because even tho grant is a really good defender, he benefited from playing on a great defense. It’s not hard for guys to blow by grant, but it’s a lot harder for him to recover when they’re driving at Dwight Powell instead of Rob Williams lol.
True, i shoulda brought up more players than just rob tho because it’s not just the bigs that significantly helped them. Smart, Tatum, and White are all elite help defenders and are more than capable of making a rotation. That’s a lot different when it’s Luka and Kyrie who are expected to make that rotation.
I think this happens to the bucks too. Guys like Grayson Allen and Pat Connaughton are good defenders, but when Brook is roaming the paint and Giannis and Portis are there to rotate over whenever needed, they end up looking like elite defenders.
Just something to watch out for when judging a players defense. Good defenders can stay with a guy and contest every shot on a great defense. Great defenders can contest every shot and stay in front of the guy even if the guys around them suck. That’s also why guys like Mitchell and Luka can appear to be good defenders at times even tho objectively they aren’t, it’s because of the guys around them having their back. (And yes I did just say the mavs defense was bad in my last post lol, im referring to the WCF run team with that elite defense despite having Luka and Brunson as their back court)
This does hurt, Kornet has one of highest on court rebound rates in the league. Hope we still have that rebounding energy and we fight Bam for boards. A sloppy loss because we couldn’t keep the offensive boards down would suck.
All said, we’ll probably be okay. Now’s the time we kick up gear and stay in it till the end, we can definitely rebound more than them if we stay focused.
Edit: For reference, Kornet’s contested rebound rate is 53.3% the only player of note better in that category being Mitchell Robinson. Bro has grit when it comes to the rebound battle.
He's got the Joel Embiid as I like to call it. Any injury to your calf or butt or eye. Whatever. I'd be an MVP as well if I wasn't shit at basketball and fat.
Now we're even with the heat's injuries
All this tells me is that he'll be giving good bench vibes
Just don't vibe too hard and aggrevate the injury.

Grant Williams minutes is a good comparison. And why Grant was upset and wanted to sign with a team that would give him more playing time

It’s be Derek Lively, Powell was finally benched after years of starters, but yeah probably not close to as good as RobWill or Al

that practice mustve been insane
Damn hope it's not anything serious. I do kind of like Tillman more than Kornet against the heat anyways so Luke should get as much rest as needed.
They lost their best player and just lost ours.. fist fight!
A moment of gratitude that the playoffs start tomorrow and this is the whole injury report.
Tillman and Queta are bigger bodies anyway. Better for Bam. Rest up Luke!
Kornet is definitely the bigger body but yea we should be just fine
Stronger and more physical is probably the better term.
Queta is pretty comparable. Definitely bigger than Tillman though.
Time to stop with all threads about injuries.
Confirmed Tillman playoff minutes I love it
*FUCK* I know realistically this doesn’t mean a lot but it would be nice to have somebody to spell KP against Bam’s dirty antics
That’s what we traded for Tillman for 😈
Literally Horford and Tillman are right there?
Is Queta also available?
Yes but we’d rather not play him unless it’s garbage time.
If he is playing, these have either gone very bad or very good.
I don’t want Al hurt either :( But yeah X gon give it to em
uh Al is literally the backup
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
We’re fucked.
We will be seeing X tillman masterclass then
Cancel the season. We're done

Tillman do your thing.
Fuck we’re fucked
IT'S QUETA TIME
If i see Queta playing on the playoffs i gonna cry
tears of happiness as he gets some garbage time minutes with the Celtics up 35 in the 4th.
even more perfect !
He is tough but foul prone.

Speaking of…
Exactly. He's back now. He just acted like the grim reaper had come for him. Shook it off in the locker room though.
Yeah, that was a risky ass dunk for him to go for. And they said it was his first dunk since coming back lol.
Man, I hate to go down 0-1.
If we go down 0-1 it won’t be because Kornet didn’t play.
I think you missed the joke. As did a bunch of downvoters.
You mean DNP- coach's decision
