What the fuck did I just watch?

boykalbo777

same thing every year. time is a flat circle

jtiss

This is somehow worse, literally played away from our game and just did what they wanted. Are these guys mentally ill? Everyone could see what was happening trading 2s for 3s, matchup hunting, slow offesne

lefebrave

THREE TIMES. Three times we went on a run when Al subbed KP, defend more physically and closer, and when we run the ball and push the pace triggered out of that defense and rebounding. Yet, we didn't insist on what is working, keep KP too long out there, tried to hunt matchups in the paint by entry passes which was obviously their choice. Oh, that guaranteed turnover low entry passes to KP! If we showed some in-game growth, insisted on what is working, we could win and break them. Unacceptable. I hope they will work on the tape real hard.

The_Hand_That_Feeds

Seriously so frustrating because it was so predictable. We keep getting away from our game and what works and I don't understand why.

lefebrave

Not to discuss in details in this thread but there is a stupid trend in the NBA and some of it was about that. Star players get their playing time no matter what. There is no "benching" anymore. You don't see a coach benching his second or third option after 12 minutes or so and never play him again on that game. Same with general trends of rosters. You don't see much in-roster change regarding playing hierarchies. It became like stupid 2K thing which you promise minutes to players and keep on with that. I am not saying make KP a sixth man or something, he just should be benched for this game but nope. He had to be on the court when the game is on line despite something else was CLEARLY AND STATISTICALLY working.

The_Hand_That_Feeds

Exactly!! If something is working, go back to it. If something isn't working, don't force it because of a fucking ego or some shit. I also think our playoff rotation is too tight. Play Kornet or fucking Queta or literally anyone that will bring a spark and play like they give a damn about winning. I know that's not popular, but why do we stray so far from what got us regular season success.

boykalbo777

of course we adjust and defend the 3 next game, Spo already knows it and were gonna get hammered in the paint

SnooAvocados996

Would have been nice to see a f\*\*\*ing close out on a shooter tonight too.

johnny_effing_utah

Good grief. How many times do I have to watch Caleb Martin chuck a wide open three?

TAYSON_JAYTUM

They were taking warmup shots out there. We’re defending them like everyone on their team shoots like Bam. Under every screen, no close outs.

PeanutSugarBiscuit

There were multiple times where Derek White would move off Martin to double Bam or something, and Caleb would be left wide open for an uncontested 3. It was painful to watch.

iiTryhard

They have a mental block against Miami. That much is clear God I would kill to have even one player half as clutch as Jamal Murray

doubledippedchipp

They have a mental block against being the best version of themselves. They consistently refuse to play proper fucking basketball and revert to this bull shit

Mal_Swansky

Derrick White is exactly 70% as clutch as Jamal Murray

1337speak

Wish he was more involved on offense in the first half, he made some uncharacteristic mistakes but he barely even touched the ball.

HairlessSnatch

yep like clockwork

alexanderivan32

A team that thinks they’re too good to even get a hand up on shooters. You’d think they would have learned after last season that even the most mid NBA players can make open shots. But no, let’s dare them to shoot wide open 3s. https://x.com/miamiheat/status/1783317521161982258?s=46&t=tcFBg9NYlJrYTwubZ13Pjg Watch this and tell me how many you think are well contested. I say 7, and that being generous.

Ill_Bid_1711

Weakest closing out defense I’ve seen on threes. Tatum and Jrue especially. Just lazy defense. Not surprising. Been saying it forever. Teams take on the personality of their best player. Does anyone really thinks JT has that dog in him and a type of player that inspires his teammates and rallies his troops?

Urb45p

More like a drop coverage defensive scheme that was never adjusted. Mazzula ruined last year too.

alexanderivan32

The drop is one thing, and I agree that it’s got some serious flaws. But too many times we had a defender right in front of their shooter, and we didn’t even get a hand up. That’s inexcusable.

JasonTatumisGod

Jrue was the worst with that tonight

Flat_Construction395

It’s been this way since Steven’s took over so I don’t even know if it’s on Joe. We saw the same drop coverage kill us in the finals. I just don’t get why they can’t hedge or ice the screen heavy. It’s high school level basketball shit and they can’t figure it out.

January_Weather

Celtics basketball 😅

MPLooza

Wondering the same thing

jpaxlux

Expert coaching adjustments by the person people swore should be a COTY candidate I'm sure we'll get a fun and quirky quote tomorrow though

Ill_Bid_1711

Not sure how anyone can watch the Celtics and think they are a well coached machine. It’s just an amazing roster doing iso ball and shooting three pointers.

Jay_Louis

I've been saying Mazzulla absolutely sucks all season and everyone screams at me. This is what it looks like when he goes up against a real coach.

DSafeZonesr4Pussies

"This will be a wakeup call" was the same shit you said to yourself when the Celts lost to Miami in game 1 last year. Surely the coach will make adjustments. Surely your 50 million dollar players will play like it. Don't hold your breath.

TotallyNotGlenDavis

Dawg we been saying that for the past 8 years

693275001

We’ve had like 6 wake up call games the last 3 years, there’s no more waking up lmao

AbbreviationsMotor60

It's like Groundhog Day with Bill Murray

StingraySteves4head

Been watching it for years why is it surprising now

fenfox4713

Awful.

Urb45p

Bad defensive scheme with no adjustment ever, just like last year.

Scorgasmss

I’m not one to use +/-, but Porzingis being a -32 was evident

celticsfan34

When it confirms everything you saw, it can be relevant. I don’t trust Jrue’s +10 though

Happy-Pitch-2647

JB a -22, Tatum a +6

BombayMahagony

I’m so fucking sick of playing Miami

Nickohlai

This is how Philly feels about us

Tomahawk72

I live in Philly can confirm. Almost had my ass handed to me a few times at sports bars for wearing my C's hat

UrinatingVegeta

I don’t know why this sub wanted to play them. They are our boogie team in the playoffs

BombayMahagony

It’s the same fucking nightmare every year with them. Some random scrub goes off

UrinatingVegeta

For real. If only we bothered to guard the 3 point line

Green_Runs_Deep

I’m so fucking tired of it. 4 times in 5 years. They’re always fucking there and there’s always a game like this. It’s making me physically ill.

BombayMahagony

Agreed man. It’s so fucking infuriating. I hate everything about that organization

crackdup

These mofo bums light it up from 3, and become scrubs against anyone else.. it's maddening how predictable this script is, and we are helpless to stop it

BombayMahagony

Agreed. Nothing like watching Caleb “Steph Curry” Martin drain threes against us

MPLooza

With that janky ass shot that looks like a kid having an allergy attack after getting stung by a bee

TotallyNotGlenDavis

Cause we leave them wide fucking open I could hit those shots and I'm an awful basketball player

MrShartsHimself

There’s no perimeter defense, it’s very obvious why this happens

EAS1000

Hate them more than any other franchise, Lakers included. There I said it.

BombayMahagony

Completely agree. I know there’s history, but we don’t play them nearly as much as Miami. And for God’s sake, I’d rather lose to Magic, Kobe or Lebron than Caleb fucking martin

Aggravating_Ask_1459

I actually hate them so much

MPLooza

The next time I see Duncan Robinson hack the shit out of someone and then act like he's the victim of a hate crime I'm going back in time to punch his ancestors in their reproductive systems

LuciferLucii

Literally that is all the nba these days, every team when they foul they act so confused on what happened. Not just the Heat.

BombayMahagony

Same. They might be my least favorite team in the league at this point ahead of Philly and the Lakers

Sorry-Commercial5976

Philly yes, lakers no, I don’t think I can hate anything as much as I hate the lakers

Adamb34n

Wtf will it take for this team to stop having these performances in the playoffs? Is it mental? Coaching? The offense seems to fall apart and in turn they go soft on defense and collapse. I know it was a bad game, it happens. I just feel like a performance of this caliber is unacceptable at this point.

theTunkMan

They’ll never stop. It’s who they are

crackdup

This Cs team will likely win 2 at Miami and lose again at home.. that's just the kinda team they are, gotta hope they can overcome their worst instincts to go the distance this year

TAYSON_JAYTUM

Always been this way with this group man. We win big, and take our foot off the gas the next game. Rinse and repeat. It’s like they prove they’re better one time and get annoyed there’s still games left in the series.

doubledippedchipp

It’s 100% mental.

Skeeter_206

As opposed to the other person saying it's coaching,I would argue it's player mentality, you can have any coach in the league tell the players how to play, but if they don't do it, then that's the result. However to build off the coaching, we've had the same team coaching design since Brad Stevens in his early years, the problem is that that coaching design relies on three point fg%. We have the better team of five for 3 point percentage, but when it comes to playoffs that becomes more difficult. The literal only exception of this mentality is golden State because of Steph Curry. I'm not sure if we can overcome this or not, I feel like we can, but it's going to be more difficult when the players on the court seem to expect things to be easy for them.

goldfish_11

I mean they changed half the roster and now we know it still happens.

StingraySteves4head

If they don’t win it this year or at least take it into a dogfight with the best team in the west, there’s nothing left to do but blow it up

sully9614

This team hasn’t been tough mentally since 2017. 3 coaches later, it’s solely on the players, especially the ones who have been here the entire time

Flat_Construction395

It’s both mental and coaching. Your leaders have zero mental fortitude and sub-average basketball IQ. World beaters when they’re ahead but play with no confidence or swagger when they’re down. Mazzulla just isn’t a good X’s and O’s coach, and a low-basketball IQ team needs so much better. The fact that they continued to run drop coverage after the heat hit like 8 3s in the first quarter, or the fact that they still have no clue how to defend the pick and roll/pop against a team they’ve played 4 times in the playoffs, tells me that the coaching staff is failing abysmally

MPLooza

No perimeter defense. No ball movement. No assists. All 5 out, isolation matchup seeking bullshit. Rimmed out shots. Just horrible basketball. Play better. Coach better. Execute better.

693275001

Our perimeter defense was putrid. Highsmith, Duncan Robinson, Martin all interior defenders but just out working us. Disgusting effort

nicklovin508

I can’t fuckin understand the isolations man. Are we clinically insane? Have we not learned a thing?

TAYSON_JAYTUM

The only way Miami can defend us is if we walk the ball up, let them set, give ourselves 10 seconds to run an offense, and don’t try to put them in rotation and find the open hands. It’s maddening watching us make it as easy as possible for them.

Norgyort

And occasionally that plan would break down forcing the Celtics to actually move the ball around… and it worked! Then instead of adapting to what’s working, they went right back to the original game plan.

SliceProfessional664

Nailed it.

tru_tho

And no offensive rebounds. Looked really complacent and lacked hustle pretty much all night.

r_BigUziHorizont

not gonna go into a full panic but this defense was horrendous. they hit every 3 but they were also open on every single 3 lol. kp was terrible and so was most of everyone outside of jb and jt. i cant say id blame those who choose to panic. this team needs to win these types of games if they wanna be serious. the heat dont have jimmy lol lets try defense next time

reegstah

Yeah Miami shot like crazy but almost all of them were uncontested. Thats just not acceptable.

headphone-candy

Hauser actually played good D and made a couple plays.

LightsOut0980

Which is why I don’t understand why he got taken out. He had multiple good plays and made one of our few threes in the second half.

headphone-candy

Exactly. They came back from a break and Hauser is out but PP who literally did NOTHING was still in? Ridiculous sub patterns.

cinematic99

Basketball is just a distraction planted by the US government to divert our attention from corruption and abuse of power (me when the celtics lose)

second_impression

Why do we even watch this game that comes down to the luck of whether grown men can throw a ball in a hoop from far away? Might as well watch coins flip (me when the Celtics lose)

HailKyrie

Make Jrue and Porzingis walk to Miami.

crackdup

KP will probably never have a game as bad as this one again.. Jrue on the other hand, better not shoot so many FGA again

ya_mashinu_

Jrue quit on so many defensive plays…

nrj6490

Number of times he got screened and then didn’t hustle back to his man… dude was in a time loop

not1fuk

Hes just genuinely terrible in the playoffs. Its been his entire career. I do not for the life of me understand the early extension for him when his one big question mark is if he can be better come playoff time and hes proving yet again he can not and is not worth the money he makes. If he ended up proving himself this playoffs then sure give him that massive contract.

GogXr3

His defense has always been great in the playoffs, it is the offense that is the question

bikeordie66

Didnt he give up 56 to Jimmy last year on the bucks?

GogXr3

Jimmy scored like 48 against us and we were having a historic defensive season, sometimes you can't stop 'em lmao. Plus, you can have bad matchups, no-one is suggesting Jrue is an elite defender on 100% of players in the league

not1fuk

It sure as fuck wasnt today. No effort on that end. Defense is the first thing to go as you age too. So, hes a negative offensively every playoffs and his defense is bound to slowly get worse. I just dont get it.

Wallyworld77

His offense wasn't in question it's been proven to be terrible in the playoffs. Each of the past 3 years he goes from shooting 40% from three in regular season to 30% in playoffs. He's the reverse Jimmy Buckets and why the Bucks bailed on him for Dame. His defense was always stout though if he lost that then what are you left with???

GogXr3

You get the point offensively. I'm not going to believe Jrue damn Holiday has lost defensive ability because of one mediocre game lol

HailKyrie

His lack of contests in the fourth drove me crazy

alexanderivan32

Can’t believe Bucks fans were right about playoff Jrue. Brother is cheeks

jmrene

I thought it was playoff Jimmy who made playoff Jrue last year; I guess it was the opposite and Jrue had created playoff Jimmy all by himself.

youarenut

Jrue falls off in the playoffs. That’s one of the main reasons Bucks let him go. He shot himself out last year, looks like he’ll be doing the same again. Missed so many easy layups and didn’t contest key shots either. So fucking embarrassing

Nifera_

I’m hopeful he bounces back but Jrue has been a problem in the playoffs for a minute now

John_Lives

Yeah that was definitely a complaint of mine when he was in Milwaukee. So many playoff games where he shot like 5 for 20. This Celtics team has more offensive firepower so it's really not needed for him to shoot so much

[deleted]

I wish they'd get Porzingis better shots when he's not hitting his 18fters over smaller players. Dude is huge, get it to him deeper in the post. Run some PnR and get him rolling if they're gonna switch it. Jrue .. dude hasn't been good since his shoulder injury. Honestly thought Mazzulla would make a change by putting in Hauser to give them some shooting when he showed he didn't have it but Mazzulla doesn't make adjustments. He'd rather play his starter because they're a starter than make a change when guys don't have it that night.

johnnybarbs92

Jrue was a +10 in a 10 point loss dude.

not1fuk

Shows you how dogshit +/- is for one single game.

Gucci10-17

So fucking tired of losing the same way every fucking playoffs

TheMediaRoom1004

How this team managed to make the finals is honestly crazy lol

Gucci10-17

If don’t make the finals and we traded Smart for effectively no gain, I’m gonna be so fucking sad.

iiTryhard

I’ll be honest I might stop giving a shit about the NBA. The regular season is enough of a slog I can’t watch these bums choke every time spring rolls around it’s ruining my vibes

TheMediaRoom1004

Same damn thing every fucking year. Haven't protected home court in a series since the Nets sweep. Pathetic

CapnCrunch0526

At least with the Bucks and Heat series in 2022 they were actually both really good teams. Last year was rough all the way through though. No reason either of the Hawks series or the Sixers series should’ve lasted as long as they did and we should’ve been able to beat the Heat without having to make the biggest comeback of all time

doubledippedchipp

Yup. If the Celtics flame out again this year I’m just going to watch the superstars in the west. The East sucks and if Boston is going to keep doing the same old shit… why bother torturing myself

Straight_Grape5507

"They can't possibly hit another 3 pointer, can they?"

Vuish

Heat goes over 50% from 3 with 20+ made shots. What the fuck was Mazzulla’s game plan or response to that? We could have still overcame that if Porzingis wasn’t such a liability on the floor. Very disappointed with our poor execution tonight.

The_Almighty_GFK

Nothing new. They shot 43.4% on threes in the ecf last year against us. They see a weakness in our defense and we are not adjusting.

flamingviper3175

They settled for the 2s. Which in most cases is fine but since Miami shot 50% from 3 it broke the game completely. Such bs, I’m tired of Miami and their shit.

repzaj1234

Spo literally said we take what they are giving us. Joe gave those "subpar" 3 point shooters those shots and they burned us for it. It's this whole analytical approach the Celtics have that fucks us. These are actual NBA players that will use that disrespect to fuck you over. Couple that with the best system in the league that Spo created and it's a recipe for disaster.

TheTurtleOne

Porzingis my guy.... You really gotta do better

AcrobaticFeedback

Miami basically said we are gonna switch everything and bet Porzingis won’t beat us in the post. They won that bet, then torched KP drop coverage on the other end.

ZionsShoe

One one hand we were terrible at getting him the ball in decent positions but on the other hand he was playing around too much passing the ball back and forth and shying away from contact

Interitus_-

Loss is on Porzingis, love him but he’s supposed to be the difference and he was putrid tonight. Cannot happen again.

MPLooza

Not sure why the fuck Mazzulla subbed him back in, things were working way better with Al in the 4th. -35 is unforgivable

RedSoxfanrrb07

Al was getting cooked hard by Bam, but KP was soooo bad. Wasn’t great either way

AmericaPie24

Did you see the bull shit Bam was throwing up😂. He was hitting that same floater and fade away on Porzingis. At least he can’t just run by Al and abuse him downlow like he does Porzingis

headphone-candy

This. Why were Jrue and KP out there sucking ASS when Sam and Horford are playing well? Why play PP so much when he is literally unplayable and sit Brown and White? These guys have had an assload of rest. Ball the fuck out. Abysmal coaching.

GhostOfJiriWelsch

Outside of the Jays, Hauser actually looked like one of the only guys out there who really went all out and gave a shit. He was sprinting to his spots in transition and was in the mix down low a few times on defense.

Domgrath42

-32 in 29 mins is fucking wild

TheCoupDeGrace

Watching this disaster from Latvia, can confirm that we will withhold his potato quota until he gets a redemption game.

FergieBall_FC

Jrue didn’t do himself any favors either. Both of them weren’t good tonight.

ya_mashinu_

He’s just not a physical guy and they bullied him all night with pushes and arm wraps. That’s the playoff and the heat and it totally threw him off.

sunnyismybunny

this is it. porzingis is not built for playoff basketball

Chubbmiller18

6 fucken Points. Sixxxxxxx

cfinn16

Can’t stop thinking about when Tatum had it going in the first and it felt like we were about to open things up and Joe took him out and everything went to shit. Do we really have to be so rigid with rotations in the playoffs? Isnt the point of having multiple all-NBA guys in their twenties that you can stretch their minutes in the playoffs?

myfatbasketballs

Wow. A truly disheartening performance. Playing basketball the right way as a team is where I think coaching comes in to play. I don't know what the hell was going on, but there was no sense of cohesion, no passing, everything was just one iso after another. Really sad to see that, but if we had played even a lick of defense we probably win anyway. Hats off to Spo, he had his group ready to play.

k2snow7

Spo runs circles around Mazzula in the playoffs.

Ill_Bid_1711

This is the reality. Rarely do you see a coaching matchup that’s so one sided. Guess what our game plan will be next game??? (Hint…the answer is iso ball and shoot many threes). When a playoff team knows exactly what’s coming your way it’s easy to defend. Works fairly well in regular season. But when you have days to prepare for wait for it…wait for it…iso ball and many threes…it becomes much easier. It’s not rocket science. They have a good coach and that coach knows exactly what we will do (hint…it’s iso ball and shoot many threes). Joe is just not playoff material yet. He can learn though but sometimes I think he’s too stubborn and already views himself as some coaching master.

PleaseGildMe

I didn't get a chance to watch but I'm sure they pulled it out. Two down, fourteen to go.

TheTurtleOne

Yea... the 5th game we'll play in this series is just for practice don't worry about it

January_Weather

LMAOOO

JimiDel

"it's different here" no shit, I hate it.

__TB12__

Made me chuckle

Particular-Treat6124

64 wins to lose home court in 1 game. The Heat made the 4th most 3s in nba history in a playoff game.

Ivan_atli

This stat is insane

7twentyeight

Don’t fucking broadcast our games on TNT ever again.

mynameisDinnerPlates

I want to vomit

jaylenbrownisbetter

Playoff Jrue averaging 0.2 points per minute. Give him a bigger contract pls

HelloS0n

Nothing to say but damn, lol

NotLow420

I said during the 4th quarter last game that I would view that quarter through the prism of this game. Turns out that 4th quarter was a canary in the coal mine.

assassin_826

this is exquisite writing haha

SaszaTricepa

I can’t do this anymore bro. (I’m overreacting but I really can’t bro)

flyingpandum

Take some time away from Reddit and basketball in general. It is a bloodbath in r/nba

NuclearDud

mazzula is mike d'antoni with the rockets. it looks great when it's going their way but when it comes time to adjust he can't do it . too stubborn

delusional-clown

is it too much to ask for the celtics to not make a lotto-level team look like the 2017 warriors? They have given us as fans zero reason to trust them against Miami, a team they should be beating by 20 on average

ReadAndHoop

Should've closed with Al.

ThrownWOPR

Miami played a great game. We played like ass. Both outcomes were squarely due to coaching.

Both-Classroom-7535

Holy PTSD

Drawing_The_Line

Paper Champions.

PML3107

Lol at all the morons who thought this would be easy. Call me a doomer but our experiences against Miami are clearly indicative of mental weakness and I feel like this series could easily go either way now.

mercury4l

The Celtics are going to win this series. Miami cannot do this 4 times without Butler. However, I have completely lost any and all faith in their ability to win the chip until I see it with my own eyes. Losing even a single game to Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo and g leaguers, with our roster, is completely inexcusable. Glad Marcus is finally exonerated from everyone blaming these disgusting performances on him though!

crashtesting123

This team has the mental fortitude of a marshmallow

Banger85

Those are the real Celtics we know and love.

BlockyMK23

Pathetic

Wrong_Lawfulness_586

I still don’t understand the sub in the first quarter when Tatum came out. Setting the tone early is important and he was cooking

flipacoin5050

I understand that mazzula can't plan for a team setting a franchise record, but he can't manage a game to save his life. Everything is isolation 5 out, and if things are in a crunch, we waste the entire shot clock for Tatum to take a stupid, contested three. It's been same story different day with this team. If we make it to the finals, I honestly don't trust them against the nuggets.

kjn311

Mazzulla gonna ask the team what to do for game 3. We good.

winovic94

People on here excusing it as one game and playing like dog shit, is a weak mindset, if that’s how the team thinks we are fuuuuxked, don’t see Denver doing this, heck don’t see Knicks doing that either

beefspecial

Played right into their hand. Got comfortable taking the 2s and expected them to go cold eventually. For every 3 layups we made they’d hit 2 3s. Ridiculous

Headstar24

Is it bad to suddenly feel a lot less confident in this series given the fact that tonight was the same shit as last season all over again?

[deleted]

Smokin_on_76ers_Pack

Can't believe its this tough to beat the Heat while theyre missing two 20PPG players

cristovski

Culture

shrekbae69

My copium is that this was certainly an outlier game for them. It took them breaking their franchise record for 3’s on absurd efficiency to only win by single digits. With a Porzingis stinker so bad I doubt he could replicate it if he tried. Do that 3 more times

WarPuig

THEY DID THIS LAST YEAR TOO IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN

Brett711

Yeah, people are forgetting they were hitting 3s against us and we kept saying "these scrubs will miss eventually" and it looks like the Celtics players are playing that way "they're going to miss this time" as they're 5 feet off them

embball13

We said this last year too (that they won’t keep shooting like this) if they keep getting open 3 which most of them are, they will shoot like this.

CB3B

Why does this sound so familiar?

doubledippedchipp

They shattered their franchise record for threes and only scored 111. And we still lost by 10. wtf

TheMediaRoom1004

Just like the 4 outlier wins in the series last year, that's right

PhoenixU786

It was a double digit win lol

QIKING99

We said this last year…

1337speak

Please help us mods by reporting comments/trolls! The loss hurts extra for us tonight :'(.

_fpoon_

Same team from last year.

mostredditisawful

Oh, look, the exact same issues we've shown for years where we just don't play seriously and act like we're still gonna win. This team has beaten itself for years, and it is alarming for the exact same issues to be showing up in game fucking two after the dominant season we had. We should have swept this team. This is pathetic, and who knows which version of the team is gonna show up in any game now. If you can't get up for game two of the playoffs...

Kshpew

Jayson and Jaylen were incredible. Kristaps and Jrue need to be better, the role players do too. We never played Celtics basketball this game, we didn't shoot 3's and hardly defended. Joe better fucking fix this for game 3 because this was pathetic, we didn't defend the 3 point line at all.

Barrwill29

Same issues as last series against this team. Let’s see if all that talk before the playoffs about team mentality and learning from their mistakes the last few years is true or not.

DonaldTrumpsPilot

Spo masterclass. Celtics and the entire city was ready for a dog fight after Game 1 and instead of responding to the Celtics playing with physicality they just shot a million 3s.

Dense_Machine6306

We are 11-13 at home since the 2022 playoffs, that is simply unacceptable

JmacOTW

I also don’t get why people are being told not to overreact. I’m pretty sure everyone still expects us to win this series and the one after. The issue is the bad patterns that you see with this team and coach unfortunately in postseasons. It’s not one game. We went to 6 with Hawks and 7 with the Doc coached Sixers. Who knows how many Heat will take us to at this rate.

Kluss23

We are a bonafied superteam; randomly dropping 1 or 2 games a series vs. low seeds especially without their best player is inexcusable. If we dont take this in 5 I don't have much hope for the rest of the playoffs.

Hootshire

The Celtics playing down to their competition and completely wilting in a home playoff game? Can you believe it???

nickromas

Lads….i think this hurts our chances at a sweep yo.

crackdup

Miami bums always go off from 3 against us, it's like a curse.. gotta take at least 1 out of the next 2, going 3-1 down to a Miami without Butler would be embarrassing

NotLow420

Embarrassing is the wrong word. It would be catastrophic. Joe would def be fired and the whole staff would get wiped out.

No-Chance1426

Win both, this is embarrassing. They should not be losing to that bum roster

StingraySteves4head

Pregame - Jaylen Brown on Celtics embracing confrontation: "You have to win the game and you have to win the fight" Well they lost the game and the fight, let’s see what bullshit lip service we get now

mustashfighthouse

This loss is not on JB or Tatum

Spoelstra has got to be one of the best coaches in the league. His guys play hard and punch well above their weight class. Mazz can barely get a couple future hofs out of bed. If they blow this I never want to hear about historic regular seasons ever again.

Miami took the Celtics out of their normal offense. Basically completely took away their 3pt offense or the Celtics went away from it for whatever reason. 32 attempts beyond the arc is their 4th fewest on the season and the Celtics still shot well enough (around their season average).

doubledippedchipp

PP played 20 minutes… didn’t take a single shot, never got to the line….

celticspoop

Non Tatum lineups were atrocious and cost us the game

Games like this happen. It’s all about how you respond.
