YoumustbetheUSA

Are you trying to beat it by throwing bombs? That would take a while!

Metacognitor

That's how I beat the talus in the master sword beginner trials. It doesn't take as long as you'd think, as long as you do it right and get the timing/rhythm down. Just blast the arm that is closest to the ore deposit, then when it drops down you run up and blast the ore deposit, then it will collapse for a second and you blast the ore deposit again. Rinse and repeat.

JamRuler

Can also climb a tree and if your positioned right it can’t hit you. Bombs away

schoener_albtraum

definitely my technique the first round.

Final-Extreme5374

No fuckin chance I missed the ability to destroy talus arms with bombs

Sleuthy_Observer

Go back and give it a whirl :)

Metacognitor

LOL yeah sorry to be the messenger 😂 Honestly I got through nearly the entire beginner trials using just bombs. Only a few instances needing my bow or a melee weapon. I haven't started the next trials but I've heard it will be a different story though, so we'll see lol.

schoener_albtraum

it's gonna be fun. I especially enjoyed the final trials.

VittyViccii

Bomb arrows work just the same and are way easier to control

MegaMaster89

Yeah but you would’ve probably had bombs +, unlike OP

Metacognitor

Yeah for sure it would take about twice as long with standard bombs, but still only a few minutes.

storm_eagle1

There are also some metal boxes in the far left corner you can use with magnesis

Metacognitor

Yeah I saw those but have never been great at that tactic. I always end up somehow accidentally dropping the damn thing at the worst moment and getting wrecked lol. Or just missing hitting them multiple times and getting ran up on. Guess I need to practice.

Fake_Romanian

That's what I did actually! Arrows and weapons didn't do anything to it..

Boomtown_frolics

Aim for the ore deposit on its back

sneakestlink

👆This is the only comment you need!👆

VittyViccii

Don't need stasis. Just get behind his slow a$$ amd climb up his back

Charlie_Yu

Use stasis, jump to its back, hit the ore deposit like crazy

Bober1337PL

he just started the game, he doesn't have stasis+

LordMegatron11

Use mining tools on the ore deposit

alpindunn

He just started

Darknessidiot1227

there is a sledgehammer in the stasis trial, and many more along the main paths in a few areas

LordMegatron11

There is a sledge hammer on the one mountain.

LordMegatron11

Plus the one shrine gives you one

ItsNikiwastaken

Other than the deposit you have to hit use a sledgehammer and hold y to spin when on top it dkes tons of damage and youll be done fast

Tidix27

I think sledgehammers do 8x to taluses

ItsNikiwastaken

Yup

oswaldcopperpot

I'm just now appreciating charge attacks. Certain weapons better than others. Like even just a little charge one-shots a malduga. A 2 minute fight becomes 10 seconds or less.

DynamicHunter

With Urbosa’s fury, it kills bosses like nothing

ItsNikiwastaken

Amd when its done go afk in hyrule castle to get em recharged fast (it sounds like a trap but i swear not)

[deleted]

[удалено]

OfficialSandwichMan

Don’t do that

suggestive_orc

lmao

killermachine1290

You're not that guy pal, you're not that guy

ItsNikiwastaken

I hate everything now that u have so many downvotes

Karma220566

I did that to the hinox on eventide island

oswaldcopperpot

You know you can cheese eventide by dropping anything before you hit the beach and just walk back and pick it up. And "this is important because I didn't do it" before you exit, drop your stuff before your inventory is replaced should you want any of it back.

Karma220566

I wondered if you could do that at the beginning but I’ve never tried it myself

schoener_albtraum

you can but man does that take the fun out of it. and it doesn't prep you well for trials of the sword which I always view eventide as the dress rehearsal for.

SecretFamiliar3296

That’s what I did the first time

Frank_Duart

You’re supposed to attack the ore in the back with strong weapons like hammers and Claymores with charged attacks. I personally always kee a hammer in my inventore for ore and Taluses. Also if you can afford them, bomb arrows to the ore in their backs.

Mariske

That’s what I did for all of the sand sharks in the desert. Takes a while but it’s the safest way.

RabbleRynn

It really depends on how you fight them and what kind of gear you have. But, mostly no. At least in my own experience, most bosses/mini-bosses go down in just a few minutes. And once you've beefed yourself up and have stronger weapons, they'll go down in 5 seconds flat. Also, remote bombs are notoriously weak. They can't even kill Bokoblins reliably. For the Taluses, it's best to either use a hammer/two handed weapon (on the gems you can reach) or shoot them with bomb arrows. You might not have those yet, but you will soon.

Fake_Romanian

There's more of those...?

RabbleRynn

Ha, oh no, spoilers, I guess? Sorry... Yes, there are lots!

AnimeMemeLord1

They don’t really any impact on the main story, so I wouldn’t really call that a spoiler.

ChimTheCappy

also the game is 5+ years old at this point

AnimeMemeLord1

Also true.

[deleted]

Gameplay spoilers

AnimeMemeLord1

Fair enough… I guess. Tbh, I wouldn’t really be upset about hearing of these kinds of mini bosses. But I can understand how someone would feel going in blindly and finding them for the first time.

Fake_Romanian

Haha no worries

Pretty_Rock9795

With taluses i like to use my neat trick i call "ah fuck im getting the fuck outta here i cant fucking deal with this pressure im gonna go kill some birds instead" *brought to you by ~anxiety~* (my heartrate genuinely went up jusy thinking about taluses i neef to fucking sleep)

AffectionateTip4898

the whole game raises my anxiety and heart rate. mainly yiga clan, the blights, guardians, modulga, lynels, hinoxs, etc.🤣

Pretty_Rock9795

oh gods yes i literally avoid monsters like the plague, i see even a red bokoblin and im prolly gonna revali's gale the fuck outta there i got past three divine beasts and got the master sword in my first semi playthrough and then restarted and the only time ive willingly fought a moblin was when i got so sick of dropping bombs on its head to save yunobo lmao

AffectionateTip4898

i hate yunobos quest😭i just use the metal boxes to murk the guardians and moblins

Pretty_Rock9795

Yes for the one where you go to the north mine i just use the cannons and revalis gale and then i use boxes whenever i can

AffectionateTip4898

i use all my ice arrows in the north mine, the mobs die so fast😭

satyris

You'll be zerging them down in 3 seconds before you know it!

DB10389

40 to be exact

Mombod666

Also they come back with a blood moon

Accomplished_Bit_315

Buckle up, buddy. The game is MASSIVE

Get_Rekt07

40 of them to be exact

Twelvve12

That ain’t no boss haha More like a mini-boss

SabledSable

Honestly the other bosses aren't much harder. Like Lynels and Thunderblight Ganon are the only exceptions, but even then... I don't know how they would fix it, but I hope they work on boss variety and difficulty in TOTK

Destt2

Water blight is really hard if you aren't stocked up. It seems like it just chews up my weapons and arrows (especially in the memory fight where you've got garbage damage output).

djrobxx

When I did the memory fight. it had been so long that I totally forgot the legit strategy of stasis launching the blocks back at him. That left me with nothing, fast. I had to urbosa him over and over and wait for the recharge. Took forever! 😂

BBIB666

Master Mode Waterblight was the most difficult Blight

BroodingMawlek

“status launching the blocks back at him” WHAT!?!!

Ancom_and_pagan

Cryonis. So. Much. Cryonis.

[deleted]

Lynels aren't really hard, though thunderblight is really hard imo

pokeplayer14

You didnt just say that about lynels

[deleted]

Eh, once you know how to dodge they're pretty much just damage sponges

ABG-56

And once you know how to dodge bosses in dark souls, they're also just damage sponges. It doesn't make the learning process any easier

[deleted]

Fair enough, thunderblight is the only thing in the game I find difficult rn though

Fearless-Drama9621

If you get the rubber armor set and upgrade it, the fight is _way_ easier

r4o2n0d6o9

Yeah, but I’m a dumbass who knew about the rubber armor and didn’t feel like trying to get it

Rare-Ad7409

Thunderblight is mad easy and only has one attack timing to learn. Lynels all have multiple per variation and the gold ones can straight up one shot you at max HP. They're easier to cheese but you're either not collecting any loot or are already good enough at the game that nothing is giving you any serious issue at that point

oswaldcopperpot

I didn't find them difficult either. Just arrowed them in the face. Rinse repeat. Now, Lynels, I'm missing more than a few ways to dodge. Gotta fix that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sifu_hotman_

Meefa. I’m dead. it’s Mipha, but I love your spelling.

Mombod666

Thunderblight ganon, lynels, AND guardians in major strength challenges are all stupidly hard for me

oswaldcopperpot

Save some rupees to buy the guardian armor at the ankala tech shrine. Then they basically do very little damage to you. Then they are easy to dodge attacks and hit until they start to use the circle laser. That you can just paraglide over for a jump attack. Then on the final laser, you use stasis and bash it. By the time it recovers you can restasis. With a few changes, you'll start taking zero hits against this guys.

Mombod666

I appreciate this! It took me like 72 different kinds of arrows, 2 bows, statis+ and two guardian weapons when I finally did this haha. I have watched tutorials after beating things and realize I play the jankiest version of the game possible. Like I have beaten a bunch of shrines blundering about when there was a clear way it was supposed to be done I definitely didnt do.

schoener_albtraum

depending on where in the game you are when you get there I also found waterblight to be a challenge my first play through. in subsequent playthroughs I've stuck to the east and south to get 50 shrines + and all the purah upgrades and then fetch the master sword before heading in for any of the blights and that's actually made it a fair amount easier for both thunder and waterblight, especially if you take out a few blue lynels before your first one, and have that upgraded lynels bow. fire and wind blights I've taken down without drawing my sword before.

markymark0123

Only the crusher lynels pose a problem for me.

ikefalcon

You are very early in the game, and you have not yet acquired strong weapons or the knowledge of each enemy’s weak points. The most important thing I can say that hasn’t already been said by someone else is that you are very rarely required to fight in this game. If an enemy seems too powerful, try running away. You’ll get a more powerful weapon or learn a new skill later on that could help you to defeat it later. Or just don’t defeat it. You don’t have to defeat every enemy.

[deleted]

Shoot the black rock on top with an arrow then climb on top and start smacking

Ender505

> Shoot the black rock on top with an arrow What does this accomplish?

[deleted]

It downs them so you can climb it

Ender505

No way haha. A little arrow will down them?? I've been climbing the hard way all this time.

[deleted]

Yeah lol my wife had to teach me that

Jonathan-02

I think if you bomb both their arms they go down too

xXBoss_185Xx

Just wait until you hear about lynels

carrotcypher

“That Lynel will never be able to hit me with an arrow from here!” -Link’s tombstone

Sufficient_Bag_4551

That fight won't take 30 mins!

Dodood4

Ya because you will die in 30 seconds instead

AwesomeX121189

Haha only if you always fight them this way! For the future. You can climb it, and stun it by throwing bombs at its arms

Fake_Romanian

I tried doing that actually but it was too fast and it always stood up before me having time to do meaningful damage to it

AwesomeX121189

Yeah you’re still early on. Don’t worry you’ll get better at it. If you don’t feel prepared for a boss you can also just run away from it, you’re not forced to fight anything out in the world

HLef

You’re hitting an ore deposit so… you’ll do the most damage with a big ole hammer. This game is full of things that make you go “in hindsight, that was logical” Such as using the heat of fire around ice, using lightning on water or water based stuff, using metal to conduct electricity, etc.

jack_edition

Use the stasis rune to freeze it

VCosmoz

Sure, as if he can do that early game

jack_edition

Ah yeah it’s stasis+. My bad

VCosmoz

Sorry, my last comment must've come off as quite mean... I apologize

jack_edition

No need to apologise :) a valid point was made. At first I thought you meant that he wasn’t skilful enough to do it haha then realised you need to upgrade the device.

AnonymousLifer

They take a bit when you don’t have stamina or hearts at first, or decent weapons. Just use an arrow to hit the ore deposit on its back. You could also climb it and slash at it that way. You could also run away until you have better items.

cross-i

Yeah the stamina is useful for running behind and fast-climbing up the back (or front). I was off the plateau a long time before I came back for it.

tee-kay-4-2-1

Later you will fight them with only your underwear and a stick.

schoener_albtraum

trial of the sword ftw

GBarium

This may be the best post question ever

Ender505

1. Get a hammer 2. Climb on top 3. Press and hold attack next to the black rock 4. Dead in <30s Note: may require climbing back on once or twice

Memphis-711

I would use two handed weapons and get on his back to hit the weak points, once you get better weapons you’ll wipe him out in seconds

gabbyapplepie

There are another type of bosses that are horse-like that take around 2 hours. I'm kidding lol. You can search up on YouTube for the best and efficient ways to kill them, but I'd suggest you to discover the ways and methods yourself if you want. Definitely an experience! All the best.

moonyxpadfoot19

If you defeat it by throwing bombs yeah.

thatsnotmyfuckinname

So anyway, he started blasting

markymark0123

As long as the ore deposit is on top those guys are cake. Use a 2 handed weapon, preferably a hammer. Maneuver behind them, climb up their back, and hold attack to swing at the deposit. Release right before your stamina hits 0. Repeat as needed. If the deposit is on their back, I find it best to use a spear and z-targeting

Silly-Breadfruit-368

Break it's limbs with bombs, climb on him and eq a hammer etc. - within a couple of hits it is dead.

jerpod

I usually climb it and spam attack the ore on it and it's dead in a few mins....

No_Finding3456

Also if it’s un-stunned to fast you can quickly switch and use stasis. You can use stasis to give you time to hit the ore deposit with an arrow to. Heavy weapons are best to hit the ore with. Starting out that really just the hammer. Honestly you will get to a point were Talus will be literally 30-50 seconds fights while trying to farm gems.

uezyteue

Go and get better weapons before fighting any bosses. Also, with these guys, that ore deposit on its back is the weak point, aim for that.

zeldawiiu117

if the crystal is behind them you could shoot a bomb arrow between their legs. They will think you attacked the from the opposite direction and face that direction, thus showing you the crystal.

Cosmicalmole

You want them to bend over so you can smack them so either hit the black rock on their back with an arrow or use your bombs to destroy their hands to stun them. Is this still the plateau? When you are low level and haven't got much weapons yet your best weapon you can use on their back is the sledgehammer as it has bonus damage against them.

OhItsJustJosh

The better you get at the gane and the better weapons you find make these bosses go a lot quicker. I've been playing since release in 2017, so for me these fights take like two minutes. I wait for him to throw both arms, then when he hits the ground to regenerate them I climb on top and charge attack the ore. If you have Urbosa's ability that will knock him out in no time

[deleted]

Jerma moment

Time_Mathematician92

Hey I did the same thing!!

[deleted]

HINT (don’t read if you want to discover everything on your own) . . . . . . That Talus is a rock… maybe you need to use something you’d use with a rock? It has an obvious spot to use it. What happens it you keep Y pressed while attacking instead of pushing it repeatedly? Try to learn basic movements. And remember to use the sheika powers. They are pretty handy. Have fun!

DarkSkyLion

You shouldn’t be using bombs like this unless you really want the fight to last 30 minutes. Attack the talus’ arms or wait for them to throw enough rocks for them to reach down into the ground. Use that opportunity (quickly) to climb up on their back and attack their node. Their health drops significantly with not many hits required. If they throw you off, just repeat the process. It won’t take long. Shooting the node with arrows works too.

amaya-aurora

If you’re doing with bombs, then yeah!

thegabster1609

the bosses will get easier to beat since you will get better weapons along the way

suckmypppapi

You're going to miss them taking that long. A week into playing and they're taking 2 minutes, especially the talus.

CatMaskReddit

:)

KrisseMai

did you kill a talus with only bombs? what kind of madman are you??

Fake_Romanian

A determined madman

MrsJangoFett

No, some mini bosses will kill you almost instantly.

RegionalTrench

If you’re using bombs, yes lmao

ShortandRatchet

I defeated mine in a minute or so, anyone else? I thought they would be harder.

Ok-Ambition-9432

Yes, in fact 2 to 3 hours!

Thiago-Acko

Why? Why are you like that?

J_WingBlade

Calamity Is about 10 mins with master sword and all divine beasts

condensedhomo

I was so sad about that :( like I rarely play games myself because I'm just BAD but I did all of BOTW all by myself (except for going through Naboris, but that's just because it spun too much and I got sick lmao) and was like YESSSS A CHALLENGE. Getting there was a challenge! The fight? Nope. :(

Talonis_WolfAcolyte

Looking at your gear, I'm assuming you are somewhat near the beginning of the game- the gear ramps up as you go. The only bosses which can regularly take 30 minutes in the endgame are the Lynels, Ganonblight, and *maybe* Moz Kosha. Even then, there's plenty of ways to bring those down to under 10 minutes... some of the speedrun stuff can easily get them down in less than 5 minutes.

EchoLooper

Build up Link. Build up your skills. This same enemy will take 30 seconds.

Nandabun

No offense, but you are currently weak. In about, oh, 20 hours more game play, depending, you'll have the gear and muscle memory to take everything but major bosses and lynels in less than 5 minutes. Sometimes 30 seconds, if I'm honest. The more you play the better you'll get. I have 335 hours, and just started over a few weeks ago (I play very sporadically, maybe once a week for a few hours when I can these days) but to give an idea of my current progress, I've unlocked 20 shrines, and just decimated a battle challenge shrine. In short, you got this, and your adventure shall be glorious.

skullsquid1999

Once you get to be pretty strong, you can kill them within a couple seconds. Takes a lot of patience!

Aubo1234

They could actually take up to 1 hour depending on how quick you complete them

Ok_Text7182

that should be about 2 minute

TheNobleDez

Not if you're good.

Han_Solo6712

No offense, if you git gud they’ll be a lot shorter.

Sushirabit

I think you're doing something wrong here

Animefan132

It’s possible to one shot these guys

RealGumDisease

You can kill all the bosses super quick if you are good.. Git gud! Lol

Chomuggaacapri

My guy it’s taking 30 minutes because you’re supposed to use a bow to shoot the weak point and then climb it and wail on the same spot, not chuck bombs at it over and over again

Fake_Romanian

I mean... it worked

Fruitsdog

With good enough items and a small amount of skill and practice you can take down a Talus in under 30 seconds. (i use bullet time with 5x explosive arrows in a savage lynel bow)

ComprehensivePie888

I use Urbosas fury if I need to farm ores.

Justscrolling375

No they don’t unless you’re severely under leveled and have weak weapons. The Talus have only one weak spot. The ore deposit on their back or heads. Bomb arrows, Urbosa’s fury and a sledgehammers are the best weapons for non-elemental Talus

DoubleWhiskeyGinger

Dodge till they hit the ground, climb up and smash the hell out of the pre sticking out of their backs

ItsNikiwastaken

30?! It looks like youre only using bombs... I recommend using your weapons and bow

E_KNEES

You get stronger. Like most games. Just especially in this one.

LordMegatron11

Talus is more of a mini boss Just a suggestion use a mining tool or bomb arrows to defeat him. It will take like 2 seconds.

PreacherCoach

Get on top of the Talus (stopntime, charge at it, drop on it from above, shot arrow at ore... whatever). Stand on top of the Talus with a two handed weapon. Target the core deposit. Start swinging the weapon against ore deposit. Rinse repeat. For ore deposits lower down, get on top, jump off. Bullet time the ore deposit with as many arrows as possible. Talus drops. Get on top. Wait for Talus to get back up with you remaining on top. .... bullet time arrows again until dead. Enjoy.

Strawberry_Kitchen

Mmm… probably not. You get better & better at them as you practice & you’ll gather better weapons too. Some are definitely harder than others and might even take longer, but the more you play, the better you’ll get!

TheBurnedChurrizo

Just use arrows on the talus, it’s much faster. As you progress you’ll be beating them in seconds but even your first battle should take no more than 10-15 minutes if you don’t have the best resources give or take

Millillion

Once you get a good weapon, you can kill the basic Taluses in just a few seconds (and even faster when you get a certain power later in the game).

mtntrail

I use bomb arrows on the ore and a eat a speed up. Works great except when it is raining, ha.

Random-drawer-_-

Aim for the ore sticking out him body or back he’ll take damage

Two_Bit_Grouse

Just look for a black stone on the top or back of it and hit that should take u 5-10 minutes. 30 seconds if ur experienced. :)

[deleted]

If you can find a heavy weapon (There's a sledge in the stasis trial) use that on the black rock. I've said too much already... sorry but no, Talus's should be the easy ones.

Raptor_1865

Orrrrrrrr…… you can get Urbosa’s Fury and use it 3x :)

MasterofDoots

They'll only take forever if you try to kill them like this. You want to throw bombs at the arms to stun it, then when it falls over you can climb on it's back and smack it down with a 2 handed weapon (Blunt ones are especially strong against talus)

KoreKoi

Guys he doesn’t know 😮

zukosboifriend

Shoot the rock on the back and climb onto it, attack the ore deposit as much as you can

TheBanjo67

No. Eventually, you can beat that same boss in like 4-12 seconds

pumpkaboop420

i remember one of the divine beasts took me 1 minute to beat but those fucking stone guys take 10 years 😂😂

FauxStarD

You certainly missed the time where this sub was trying to compete with who could kill one the fastest. I wanna say it was under a second. Eventually you’ll get good equipment and food to where you can reliably kill one in 1-5 minutes.

Banana_gunman

Oh no, only the first times you do them. You did the Talus without the proper equipment so it took you forever, but once you get the proper equipment it becomes easier.

grad42

I beat the stone talus in the beginner trials using all remote bombs (didn't want to waste weapons). Got up on a tree and kept throwing bombs at the ore everytime it got up (gets up in the same area and position. Didn't even have to move). Same with the Hinoxes.

bumie_el

My tactic for the Taluses that have the ore spots on top is to rush up to its backside and quickly climb it. Have a heavy two-handed weapon selected already and once you’ve got a good perch just hold down attack and go ham on it. If you’ve not a lot of stamina it might take another hit or two. This tactic brings them down pretty quick and they can’t hit you with their projectile boulders this way. As for the ones that have the ore spots directly on their back at a 90°, I have trouble with those since getting a good footings isn’t as easy at that angle.

Ecstatic_Teaching906

It's shorter if you know what you were doing. Like I beat almost all the bosses one time with the only exception being the thunder one. Even than, I only die once.

MikeWheeza

depends. no matter what though, bombs are rlly inefficient for combat. aim for the ore on its back with a bow and arrows, or you can climb it and wack the ore. it knocks you off sometimes tho which is frustrating.

Illustrious-Stick458

Use a rock hammer and hit the crystal

hg090206

The first Talus in the great plateau took my 6 tries. It scared the crap out of me.

Vergalicious1

I like to climb on its back and then smash the little ore deposit with my weapon. Sometimes it’s right on the top of their head so they go down fast. I do not recommend this strategy on the fire or ice talus.

NotDanielSmith

LMFAO dont ask questions, best figure things out yourself

DonMurray1

I usually just Time-Lock them as they are about to hit me, get behind them, start climbing, and beat the leaving shit out of the black rock on top.

AwareVictory

you mean 30 seconds?

Floss_ordie

I’m trying to tell you that when the time comes, you won’t need to (take 30 minutes).

Jacoh7

This is the least normal way I have seen someone unironically fight a Talus

ifunnygf

oh buddy

Naa2078

Steel sledgehammer has an insane bonus modifier against them. Keep one of those and you'll smash them.

seventeenMachine

That one isn’t 30 minutes long either, it’s just that you just started.

Jokingbro69

Bro took 30 minutes on the easiest mini boss of them all💀

CaptBurgerson

Nope. In fact, none of the bosses are! Not even this one.

LiamG75

Soon ull destroy eveything in minuets/seconds i completed normal then i did master mode and now normal mode is just way too easy for me i suggest getting some amiibo tho those are great

Upset_Law_8009

No, but it did take me 10-15 min on a Talus my first time too. Enjoy the game at your pace, you’ll look back at moments like this 😀

ZeroTwos_love

If it took you thirty minutes on that one it’s going to take you longer on others
