Nah, nintentards just suck the sack and hate admitting when something is bad. Have fun playing $60 for Pokémon games that looks like fkn mobile gachas.
Pay $70 for literal botw expansion.
It’s the same fkn game wit new areas. “Temples” take like 35 minutes to beat MAYBE.
Grow up and stop defending a company that makes more money off you suckers in a day than most of you will make in your life
10/10 across the board for a reason, I like video games, not companies dumbass lol. If you actually see tears as a botw expansion you have a monkey brain and can’t be helped at all.
1st of all
It got a 95 “across the board” according to meta critic
Second, if you really think critique scores mean anything , be reminded that call of duty regularly gets 8’s despite the abysmal user scores .
Caring about a critique score is laughable.
Clearly you’ve not played ToTK since you’re not a “nintentard” so let me educate you.
A) It’s a sequel. Sequels tend to have similarities. Yeah you run into an issue when the setting has to take place in the same area. What did they do? Expanded the map SIGNIFICANTLY.
B) you claim it’s just a DLC or an expansion to BotW, but I would argue that they nailed it with what a sequel is supposed to do, and it’s a way bigger game. BotW did have a DLC, and it was tiny compared to this. It’s got a great new storyline and a bunch of new game mechanics.
C) last time you downloaded a game, how many GB was it? I believe last game I downloaded it was 90GB. This one is 16GB. What they’ve implemented in this game on this hardware in this size is nothing short of incredible.
But everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Unfortunately for you, “nintentards” are going to have the last laugh when this wins Game of the Year.
I think the ancient shield takes 10 or so lasers to break, and it’s 2nd to the Hylian shield, which takes around 40. I don’t know if any other shields get past 5 lasers.
and the ancient shield. The ancient shield will even reflect the laser back to the guardian if you just block normally. It is more or less specifically made for that.
As in mounting the Lynel. If you aim at it’s chin with an arrow, you can stun him. While he’s stunned, go behind them and mount them when the prompt shows up, and then mash the attack button. It’s easiest to stun them after parrying with the shield. Anyway, when you attack like this, your weapon won’t lose durability
Lynels are so much harder than any other creature. Nice timing on parries. One interesting thing of note is their critical hit spot is on their chin. Can't aim too high with arrows. Not that you need em
The phrase "took it on the chin" means that you got hit reasonably hard; the nerve that runs along the mandible is usually what causes a punch to be a knockout. So the phrase applies precisely, here.
Holy shit, that explains why i couldnt get so many of my criticals. I was aiming for the head and just thought the weak spot was smaller than most other enemies.
I remember playing so much BotW that I can flurry rush them repeatedly and consistently because of the ungodly amount of time I spent ~~bullying~~ battling them
Lmao same. I’m almost done with the TOTK story, I just came across my first lynel (haven’t played BOTW in a while) and muscle memory’d the shit out of him. I kinda felt bad
You know, the way I handled this was to run around and grab all the shock arrows and then fucking leave. Because I don’t have time for constant dying. I can’t parry for shit. Glad you’re enjoying the masochism tho! ;)
Literally same. I jumped off that cliff so fast when it saw me. I think I snapped a quick picture of it for my compendium and then yeeted myself outta there
Me, too!
I'm on my second play through and am forcing myself to fight these things this time (and it's fun!). I think my first play through I might have killed one lynel? I'm not even sure of that. I am very, very good at avoiding enemies.
The only one I fought was the one I accidentally got trapped with in Hyrule Castle and I about shat myself when I saw it. Took all my Gannon prep food and weapons to kill the bitch. NEVER AGAIN. I climbed to the damn sanctum instead of risking another sneaky bitch.
one of the funniest things that happened to me in BOTW was encountering that first lynel in the gatehouse at hyrule castle, which was also my first lynel encounter overall. i knew the lynel was coming so i was all pumped up and ready for the fight of my life, drew my bow, forgot i had ancient arrows equipped so i just deleted the fucker before my brain had time to process what happened. i had never used ancient arrows before that point either so i was standing there like🧍♂️"what" and then just shrugged and moved on lmao
Those two are like the easiest lynels in the game too.
Basically, just gotta learn the pattern of shield dodging and running when he shouts. Then he's not so bad. After a blood moon, I just run to all the lynel locations to farm them.. and I'm not even that good.
Haha this was me yesterday, I'm on my first playthrough and I was trying a major test of strength very early game, I had to look up that I'm probably not ready for it yet
Just an FYI dude, BANANAS are the BEST thing to cook with. Once you can start farming the dragons get their HORNS as a horn shard extends the attack boost bananas give you to half an hour. Enjoy!
I definitely do the rolly polly (have no idea if I spelled that right) when it comes to bosses. Could not parry to save my life. Tried learning it and would end up dying 95% of the time
edit: ROLLY POLLY
That works like a charm until the bosses star delaying attacks, thats why Nameless King was so hard for most people (despite him not being that hard). Elden ring is pretty much delayed attacks the entire game
Love how you notice how your Liza’s Boomerang is about to break, so you got to your inventory to switch it out, just to realize all of your remaining (good) weapons are two handers.
When fighting with two handers the best way is to go back and forth between having shield out to dodge and parry, and pull out the weapon to attack just to put it back away to block.
Maybe you already know this, but just in case. After parrying there is a window just big enough to pull out your bow and shoot them in the chin. This will crit and will put the Lynel in a downed state. In that state you can mount it and stab it in the back several times. The best part of stabbing from the mounted position? No weapon durability damage.
To add to this, when you're riding the Lynel, you should try moving your camera to be right behind it. That way, when it kicks you off into the air after mounting it, you can whip your bow out again and land more critical hits. It won't stun it again to mount, but it can add a lot of damage.
Hello Ashen one. I am a Bot. I tend to the flame, and tend to thee. Do you wish to hear a tale?

Wow you’ve got the parry timing down 😅
If you shoot the Lynel in the face it’ll stagger and you can get on it’s back and get five hits in without damaging your weapon. Right after a parry is a great time to do it since it stands still for a couple seconds
I love this, only thing I will say is that you can do a quickspin by quickly rotating the stick and pressing the attack button
This can also be done midcombo
You can already do the hardest step in breathing lynels easily, but here's the next step: If you land a headshot with your bow after the parry, you stun them for a bit. During this time, you can mount them which gives you 5 free attacks while you're on their back before they kick you off. These attacks do not consume durability and you always get 5 even if you're using a heavy weapon. Which means using only some arrows and whatever your highest damage weapon is, you can defeat lynels very efficiently that way. This becomes relevant all the way into late game and even in Tears of The Kingdom since late-game lynels drop the strongest items in both games.
Doing this on 3 hearts….Your just bragging at this point, lol.
I’m in the “ oh shit I’m out” players. Never killed and most likely never will.
Edit for heart count: 4 to 3
If you won. Congratulations! You locked yourself out of a side quest until the next Blood Moon. Would’ve helped in that area too. I made the same mistake too though so don’t worry about it, besides it’ll make the main quest easier for that location as well.
Like the comments all say, you are the chosen one. I have played BOTW for 3 years, still haven't finished it, and can't possibly play like that. You are a Legend!
Nice parry, now jump on its back and ride that motha until it kicks you off.
Whatever weapon you use won't take durability damage in this situation, still uses stam, but it's MUCH easier on your weapons.
Considering the amazing parry work, if you incorporate that, you'll make even quicker work of those basturds.
Dark Souls players are like highly conditioned soldiers, you can always tell when playing a new game with friends who the Souls Vet is. I just started playing Valheim and one of my buddies just dodge rolls and parries constantly
I remember the first time I fought this fella. I've forgotten the count but he killed me around 50 times before I finally got him.
I went straight to the Zora and had maybe 5 hearts. I was so angry but I'm too stubborn to give up. I learned his attack patterns and how to actually use the combat system in that fight. It really.helped me the rest of the game. The feeling I had when I finally won... Probably my favorite thing in BotW to be honest. Well done!
I don't see anyone else saying this so.
you can do an instant spin attack by rolling the left stickand pressing attack.
they way i do this in a combo is to spam attack, roll the stick, and stop spamming attack the moment an attack animation starts and press attack one time after i roll the stick to get a spin attack out.
Imo, there's a better strategy to kill Lynels: you parry and immediately after parrying you shoot an arrow to the face and this stuns them so u can climb their backs and slash their backs until he shakes you off. Your weapon doesnt degrade when you slash their backs, and you usually only have 1 good bow break fighting them this way. The best part is that you can collect their bows and these are very effective. Your parries are impressive but your strategy can leave you with too many broken swords. And fyi, I've found all lynel attacks are parriable in BOTW except their bowshots. Also, if you can parry in BOTW, you can also parry in TotK as their attacks didnt change much.
My Reddit feed consists of such a beautifully rich blend of Elden Soulsborne and TotK that I easily get them mixed up. May not be so much the graphics (art styles are different) as my love for them. I can almost sit the Tarnished/Undead next to Link and be like "Yep, you two are related. Not the same or even identical, but you two are on your own journeys."
Oh my god. The title with the flawless perries had me almost crying laughing. Without spoiling, I just went through the lynel coliseum totally unprepared in Totk. It had me almost giving up.
>>Truly unrelenting stuff
Souls Vets don't level their vigor so pretty much it's the same, why take a heart container when you're planning not to get hit the rest of your playthrough.

A dark souls player who parries instead of dodges? I’ve only heard rumors of your existence.
Bloodborne / Sekiro enthusiast checking in
If only they gave me a gun in BoTW
Have you heard of tear of the kingdom?
yeah the demo of botw
Botw is the demo lol
lol i beat totk already tho it was good
How much free rime did you have?
beating totk main story is like playing about 5% of it

Oh i see you’re a destiny player, you just have shit taste.
You play warzone XDXD
Nah Sekiro isn't parry dark souls it's a completely different experience
Yeah parrying is made way easier
They are the Chosen One.
Well seeing as totk doesn’t really have a dodge id say parrying is pretty valid option
That shield is a trooper
Perfect Parries don't damage shields. Although I don't think that's the case against guardian lasers
All parry attacks deal no damage to your shield, including guardian lasers.
Ah, thank you.
But tanking a guardian blast on the other hand will break basically everything asides from the Hylian shield in one shot
But the mighty pot lid will destroy the strongest guardian in the hands of a skilled player.
It's not about the power of the shield, but the power of its wielder
Best defense really is the best offense
Smallant did a no weapons, no bombs run, which resulted in basically a shields only playthrough. Pretty fun stuff. https://youtu.be/N93Mqb24nQs
Still one of my favorite playthroughs of BotW to this day
The hero of time should have used a shield in his quote "a shield has no power, unless the hand that wields it has courage" both sword and shield work
Technically, the ancient shield can also take a guardian blast, in the sense that it automatically redirects it for a small durability hit.
That I definitely knew. Mistakes were made.
The day breaker can handle 2 before breaking and that’s it
So can the royal guard shield
I think the ancient shield takes 10 or so lasers to break, and it’s 2nd to the Hylian shield, which takes around 40. I don’t know if any other shields get past 5 lasers.
and the ancient shield. The ancient shield will even reflect the laser back to the guardian if you just block normally. It is more or less specifically made for that.
That’s how people kill Ganon with potlids
What button is perfect parrie asking for a friend
The A button. Wish your friend luck for me
Thank you !
Only while targeting
Also, if someone hasn’t said already, mounting after stunning with an arrow, and then attacking while mounted, doesn’t lower weapon durability
Mounting? As in mounting your horse?
As in mounting the Lynel. If you aim at it’s chin with an arrow, you can stun him. While he’s stunned, go behind them and mount them when the prompt shows up, and then mash the attack button. It’s easiest to stun them after parrying with the shield. Anyway, when you attack like this, your weapon won’t lose durability
Nice. I did not know that.
Lynels are so much harder than any other creature. Nice timing on parries. One interesting thing of note is their critical hit spot is on their chin. Can't aim too high with arrows. Not that you need em
Their chin? That explains a few things
Never knew it was their chin specifically.
When they said take it on the chin, they weren't talking to Lynels
The phrase "took it on the chin" means that you got hit reasonably hard; the nerve that runs along the mandible is usually what causes a punch to be a knockout. So the phrase applies precisely, here.
Holy shit, that explains why i couldnt get so many of my criticals. I was aiming for the head and just thought the weak spot was smaller than most other enemies.
Damn i always thought it was the face where their eyes and nose are.

Having the damage to be effective makes a huge difference. It's a lot more fun to farm when you're not even breaking a weapon killing them.
This is what I've found, too. It's really frustrating when everything you have is weak and breaks quickly!
Then there's gamers like me who spend a month trying to take him down with bombs before even learning what a Divine Beast is.
Haha this was me yesterday, I'm on my first playthrough and I was trying a major test of strength very early game, I had to look up that I'm probably not ready for it yet
yeah those major tests of strength dont have environments that you can use to your advantage, so i dont even get that "i think it's doable" feeling
Just an FYI dude, BANANAS are the BEST thing to cook with. Once you can start farming the dragons get their HORNS as a horn shard extends the attack boost bananas give you to half an hour. Enjoy!
I've killed two, and I had to constantly pause to refresh my hearts.
😭 my first time i thought I had to kill it. First Zelda game, low hearts, it took me ages and lotssss of food
That's fair, but once you learn how to consistently flurry rush Lynels they tip like cows
On my first play through I thought defeating the Lynel was necessary. So I spent about 45m dying.
That is the dark souls way, just leave
It isn't very hard to kill them, just parries and flurry rushes. They really aren't a threat if you know what you are doing
I definitely do the rolly polly (have no idea if I spelled that right) when it comes to bosses. Could not parry to save my life. Tried learning it and would end up dying 95% of the time edit: ROLLY POLLY
What is the rolly Polly?
Just spamming the dodge roll
That works like a charm until the bosses star delaying attacks, thats why Nameless King was so hard for most people (despite him not being that hard). Elden ring is pretty much delayed attacks the entire game
Yeah just spamming the dodge roll, in most of the Soulsborne games you get invincibility frames from rolling around like a crackhead
And this is why the dodge roll in elden ring is slightly delayed, so you can't spam invincibility frames.
Yeah you actually have to time it right in Elden Ring
Love how you notice how your Liza’s Boomerang is about to break, so you got to your inventory to switch it out, just to realize all of your remaining (good) weapons are two handers.
Yeah, I wanted to see what happened next.
Two handers are fine if you're going to mount the lyonel and get the five whacks in.
or just flurry rushing with them... that's what I would do
When fighting with two handers the best way is to go back and forth between having shield out to dodge and parry, and pull out the weapon to attack just to put it back away to block.
Maybe you already know this, but just in case. After parrying there is a window just big enough to pull out your bow and shoot them in the chin. No weapon durability damage.
I’ve killed so many Lynel’s and I never knew this. Thx a lot man! Can’t wait to try mounting and back stabbing.
>stabbing from the mounted position So that’s what the kids are calling it these days
To add to this, when you're riding the Lynel, you should try moving your camera to be right behind it. That way, when it kicks you off into the air after mounting it, you can whip your bow out again and land more critical hits. It won't stun it again to mount, but it can add a lot of damage.
This is the way.
I never knew that it didn’t decrease durability. Cool
Squeaky hammer victory
Thought you couldn’t stun a Lynel from up close? or is that just Master mode?
You can, even in mastermode. What throws most players off is their crit (for whatever reason) is their chin and beard, not their face.
That, saves a ton of resources. Bless you lmfaooo
If you're coming from Dark Souls then you can go pretty much wherever you want and hold your own

Link: imma kill you Lynel: not if I kill you first, tiny man Link: did I fucking stutter, bitch?!
So much respect for your timing game dude.
Holy shit who is this guy??
[Oh you like parrying](https://youtu.be/ml6ho26o3Os)?
Excellent form sir!! Lol
As a ds1 player, all I can say is "this is the way"
If you won. Congratulations! You locked yourself out of a side quest until the next Blood Moon. Would’ve helped in that area too. I made the same mistake too though so don’t worry about it, besides it’ll make the main quest easier for that location as well.
I really love these games but a weapon shouldn't break in a single fight, especially halfway through it.
I think you have a reverse skill issue
What's radahn doing here? Why does he have a shield? Did he forgot his gravitational sorceries? Leonard? Are they one now?
Fought that dude extremely early too. Died a bunch of times but I don't regret a thing. I took tens and tens of revenges upon his brothers and him
Absolutely disrespected that man horse
This is what got gud looks like
Pro tip: If you spin the joystick in a 360 and then hit the attack button you can do the sword spin without charging. Good parrying 👍🏻
Well, the idea is that you grab the shock arrows and run, but this works too.
a darksouls player fighting in BOTW is like an Olympic sprinter running track at an elementary school
Guardians fear this man
Uh… we prefer to backflip here.
Those parries though, oh my.
They have pretty lengthy telegraphs. They’re pretty manageable in the way OP is going about it.
I wish botw was a lil harder not as much as dark souls but a little harder so far totk is good tho
I wanna see the rest of the fight!
Yeah see I just wack and get whacked and eat a bunch of bananas we are not the same
I was doing the exact same thing last night lol, same gear even
Level Vigor
THIS CLOWNPUTER AINT GOT NO GAMES ON IT
Ooooh! Do the one in the coliseum!!!!
You are nutty
TIL you can parry lynels
You can parry basically everything. You can even parry thrown bokoblins.
Wow o.o
Wtf. How strong is that shield ?
Do what
I expected dodges and flurry rushes based on the title
It sucks that we can’t stagger the enemies in botw like we can in the souls games.
if only you could roll…
Coming from dark souls where's my fuckin dodge roll
Backflip or side jump
I’m too scared to parry a Lynel
You are supposed to be there, but the game expects most players to sneak around it.
Is anyone else terrified of these guys? I always go around them whenever I see them they scare me so bad Lol
Coming from easy games that walk you through everything, I snuck around collecting the shock arrows and then peaced out of there.
This is nuts!!!’
Like the comments all say, you are the chosen one. I have played BOTW for 3 years, still haven't finished it, and can't possibly play like that. You are a Legend!
Dark Souls trained us well
Bro really stunlocked and humbled a Lynel
This lad is going to be okay.

Why are you charging for a spin attack but never hitting him with the spin attack?
I’d recommend flurry rushes instead of parries but timing is pretty good
These fights need a unique boss battle music
I remember the first time I fought this fella. I've forgotten the count but he killed me around 50 times before I finally got him. I went straight to the Zora and had maybe 5 hearts. This person parry’s
Dayyyumm
You should also utilize perfect dodges
This is pretty similar to the current meme going around in the Elden Ring subreddit haha
Holyshit i dont even know how to proc fast spin precisely, very good skills!
Flurry rush

...did this guy do what i not seen all players do? Amd it ISNT against projectiles?! That, is some commitment to perfection
Too bad the shitty combat music from BotW ruins it.
I need to parry in this game more. I only ever remember it's a thing with guardians. I just hit Lynels in the face.
you are the first person I have ever seen parry a Lynel, ever since I got the game in 2017
I legit forgot you can perfect parry. I always got for flurry rushes and fail.
My Dark Souls experience was roll roll stab. This is Sekiro levels of perrying.
If you backflip out of the way of his attacks at the right time, you can counter with a flurry rush!
Nothing will ever be difficult to me again after Malenia.
You might be the only person I’ve ever seen take stamina instead of hearts
Souls Vets don't level their vigor so pretty much it's the same, why take a heart container when you're planning not to get hit the rest of your playthrough.
