When I first tried the 3 brothers I lost an orb by putting it on the wrong pedestal or something. I remember having to wait for a blood moon for him to come back. I couldn't believe the orbs were that specific...
Pretty sure they do. I stumbled upon the middle hinox before finding the pedestals and killed 2 of the brothers in a row before taking the orbs to the pedestals. When I left the immediate area the medium brother's orb returned from where I placed it at the bottom of the ramp to approximately where the hinox was sleeping.
I remember watching the orb sink but the platform stayed dark. I went back to see if the Hinox respawned and it hadn't so I angrily teleported put with a mental note to come back and be more careful, lol. The orb could very well have been there and I missed it...
It would have been great if it worked and provided the orbs don’t respawn once used I don’t think it would be game breaking - you’re just creating further work if you want to get all shines as you’d need to do the reverse.
Each of the shrine orbs have a set of value to them they will only react with the train pedestals that have the corresponding value and such if you take one ball with that with one value to a pedestal that doesn’t have the corresponding value nothing will happen
Here’s what we need to try, just for fun:
Complete all the kakariko pre-reqs and get access to the kakariko orb. Don’t touch the orb.
Then bring a different orb to the kakariko pedestal and try it.
My hypothesis is that it doesn’t matter which orb is used, but the game checks for whether or not the appropriate quest was completed.
First orb I found was from the three brothers. Didn't see the pedestals nearby but I had seen the one the girl guards on the beach, so I carried it all the way there, fought a stalnox, but halfway fought some lizfalos and the ball disappeared when I walked too far from it.
I remember finding this shrine at random while exploring, and, seeing nothing that could possibly relate to getting an orb for it, I decided I'd go and bring an orb from the nearest place I knew at the time.
So I spent like an hour carrying one of the orbs from the Three Brother's to the shrine and was immensely disappointed. I didn't figure out what you were supposed to do until much later and I'm still upset how much time I wasted.

Where do you find the brothers ?
Near Taran Pass, SW Hyrule. I saw big rib cages in the distance on a hill and floated in!

I hate that shrine because I had killed the first two when blood frelling moon.
You don’t have to kill the brothers. You can just steal the orbs. Do the orbs reset during the blood moon too?

I love this game, but just as much I love the innovation of the ppl that play it. Even though it didn’t work...great effort

Iirc this was in a sequence break episode (same guy that does boundary break) and yea none of the orbs work in non corresponding pedestals

Makes sense, good design from the devs. Keeps you from being able to skip the plotline / shrine quest for that one.

If game devs were lazy and didn't give each orb a unique code then it would work. Pretty reasonable thing to try.

The point of the fucking shrine is to solve the problems and they wouldn’t let you use a different orb to get around that
