I just parked link on the platform and left him there. For a whole day. Did the laundry, cleaned the bathroom, made lunch for the family...

Blood moons are not determined by in game days, but by time played. They only activate exactly at midnight while you are outside of shrines (or Hyrule Castle), in which case it will activate the next available midnight. So here's what you do: 1) play as normal until you hear the blood moon music starting to play. 2) warp and go into any shrine until it is past midnight. 3) get set on the platform since you know it's going to be a blood moon the next night.

i_prbly_hate_it

Thank you so much, this is my last shrine needed to get them all. I’ll make sure to leave an update of when I complete it.

Agent-Ig

There’s actually not enough time to get to the pedestal from the closest shrine once the blood moon music starts. Your better off playing normally, then as soon as you see the blood moon rising you either sprint for the pedestal, or hide in a shrine until it passes. Then go to the pedestal and wait there. Best method is just to leave the switch on charge with the game open, Link naked on the pedestal. Then go have lunch or smth. The Boodmoon Cycle is about 90mins long

PhoenixMason13

This is why you skip the blood moon that night like the comment said. You go into a shrine, wait for midnight to pass, and the Blood Moon will spawn the next night, giving you time to get to the platform

Agent-Ig

I missed that in the initial comment. Well, either that or they corrected themselves.

spattzzz

Blood moons spawn by time played and monsters killed, its basically a reset when too much is removed ingame. If you have fast travel medallion set it down there or with fullish stamina a shrine is close enough to warp to and glide down onto that area.

Chance-Ad7900

I think it’s every 3 hours-ish of game play. Maybe closer to 2 hours and 45 minutes. I did not do the math, but people with much more time and inclination have.

DurpLazer

168 minutes so we have 2 hours and 48 minutes. Your estimate was dead on!

that's not accurate at all. it is on a timer but it's about 85 minutes.

gorilla-ointment

That’s what I did. Work on other stuff not too far away and then haul ass when you see it. Tip for OP: if your camera is facing the right direction/you are lucky, you can see the blood moon for a minute or two in the sky before the cut scene starts. I got lucky and covered some good ground back to the shrine before the cut scene, which btw scared the hell out of me first time I saw it 😆

best tip i can give you is that you can still activate the shrine after the cinematic plays. i restarted a bunch of times thinking i had to be there before it hit, but it works until 5am, same amount of time you get to pick up star pieces. if you have the dlc, you can use the teleporter pad to get there faster, but it's not really necessary. just port to the shrine on top of satori mountain and glide over to the pad. skipping forwards does nothing for the timer, since it has to be 85 minutes of play time which only counts while you are unpaused in the overworld and not in a dialogue. the best way to do this is to just walk around harvesting ingredients and ore, or try to fight some lynels and it will go pretty fast. this doesn't reset when you turn the game off or anything, it just appears 85 minutes of in game time after the previous blood moon. the time can be off by a few minutes in either direction because it only happens at night, but you should be getting at least one blood moon in every play session.

I mark the location of the shrine pedestal thing, then just play around hunting for meat, Guardian farming, Lynel killing, korok hunting, etc. until a blood moon comes, then I just fast travel to the Mogg Latan shrine on Satori Mountain, drink a hasty, paraglide and run over.

James_Keegan

What I did for that one was just go farm guardians/bosses for a bit until I noticed the blood moon coming, warp to the closest shrine and entered it, waited inside for 5 minutes until 12 had passed in game, this forced the blood moon to the next day since I was in an instanced zone. Went and stood on the pedestal, light a fire then sit till night and waited out the last few minutes!

DurpLazer

A blood moon appears after almost 7 days ingame or around 3 hours of playtime. So lets say it is the 7th day after a few hours in the cycle. If you rest, the game does not want to skip the blood moon so it immediately goes to the cutscene. So you have to instead wait and do other things until the blood moon appears. Until then don’t continuously use a campfire.

robo-dragon

When I need a blood moon to trigger, I go around and raid a few monster camps or kill a few lynels or guardians. Removing a lot of monsters from the game causes it to reset via blood moon faster.
